I used to absolutely live for this place but have to say it has gone downhill food-wise in the past couple of years. The take-away part anyway. The once beautiful fried food is now very lardy and saturated in grease, which takes all of the good taste away. I think there was a change from using oil to using lard in the cooking process and it takes so much away from the once fab food and it's a shame because I used to be one of their best customers :(!!! Nice, pleasant staff. Nice atmosphere but value isn't so great when food is so lacking. Can we please have the old Valley back!

Restaurant response:
In response to the post on the quality of our food, we in the Valley Café are the same family run business that has owned and managed the Valley since 1969. We regret that you have this view but l feel I must respond to a few points that you have made. We have always strived to serve quality food and use nothing but the best available. You mentioned we changed from using oil to using lard, but please note we have never used lard in our cooking and never will. We have always used Grade A Palm oil when cooking and will continue to do so. We greatly appreciate all feedback we receive from our customers so many thanks for your input. "The old Valley" has never left so we do hope to see you again soon.

A1...Best chipper in Ireland. I usually get the chicken wrap and chips. The wrap is huge and the chips are always fresh. Milkshakes are also great and they do a tastey breakfast roll.

This is without a doubt the best chipper in the country. I've never had chips as good anywhere else. It's a Navan institution. "I'll have a laaaaarge"

This is the best chipper in Navan. I got burnt food from it once a few months ago. However I gave it another go and the food was back to excellent again. They have a very extensive menu. Their burgers are very tasty. I also like the quality of their curry chips. If you enjoy Mexican food, their Mexican burger is outstanding, as is their taco chips

The value is and food next to none. This cafe has to one of the best in Ireland if not the best as most of the comments on here agree, Yes they serve the best chips ever but their menu and quality of food is just fantastic, and in these times prices that I have say for the quality of food hard to beat. Its a must if in Navan. Its thumps up from me.

Are you all having a laugh out there ... 5 stars for a cafe thats basically a greasy chipper takeaway with a little room of tables off it - they might do good chips if thats what you want. Last time I was here it was noisy full of drunks having a row I was sitting with my partner & child and no-one did anything to stop it also this place would charge you for the salt & vinegar if they could,I asked for mayo and after leaving & checking receipt they had charged me €1.50 for a dollop of mayo anyway will never go back in there the prices they charge for a takeaway are ridiculous go check for yourself its no wonder its Navans oldest takeaway!

The Valley is to Navan what Burdocks is to Dublin. But apart from its take away trade it retains its dining area. While looking for a last minute informal place to eat on a wet midweek evening we decided to dine there. Its reputation is deserved and the chips are possible the best in Ireland. The bill for 4 didn't break the bank and in these times of "recession" I might make it a more frequent trip.

This is by far the best restaurant in the world - yes the world - I've been around the world & have never got a good, honest to God feed like I've got in The Valley on numerous occasions. Unfortunately I'm not around Navan anymore but whenever anyone mentions passing through it, I ALWAYS recommend they eat in The Valley, their menu is huge & there is something for everyone no doubt. It more than deserves the highest rating. Top Notch.
