Went here with a group after work for a bite to eat. For starters I had duck wings and they were gorgeous. I had a burger for my main and it was huge! Very tasty. I didn't have room for dessert. My starter was served on a chopping board so I requested that my main be on a plate and it was no problem. The staff were very helpful and nice and there was something on the menu for everyone. I'd definitely recommend eating here. We all loved it.. I'll be back for more

52 of us rocked up here on Sunday afternoon (Dolce Choir) after making a reservation and had a wonderful dining experience. We were directed to the upstairs dining room and, given ournumber, we were expecting a delay in getting served. However, the Restaurant had obviously made provision for the increased numbers and waitresses were immediately on hand to take our orders. The first starters began to arrive even before the last orders were taken. Most people went for the 3 course special menu at €23.95 which was remarkable value. I had the smokies (smoked fish chowder with cheesy topping) to start followed by the best pork belly I've had in a long time. To finish I had the Key Lime pie which was a little heavy, together with a pot of tea. All for €24.95. The service was most impressive as the waiting staff were both extremely pleasant and efficient at their task. Unfortunately, our request for individual billing cause a long delay at the till but we could blame nobody else but ourselves for this. This is a great little spot right in the middle of Navan. They also had an impressive list of craft beers which, because of our singing commitment (Navan Choral Festival) our musical director would not allow us to explore in advance of our performance. Hopefully, I will be back to sample the offerings from the beer list in the near future. Truly, this is a little gem for native Navanians or anybody passing through.

Ate here today with some friends and although the staff are very good, the food is not very good. The thai curry was poor and the blue cheese that came on the steak sandwich just ruined it.Those that had the fish and chips thought that it was very nice. Its also very pricey for what you get.I wont be eating here again because its just not good value for money or very tasty.

This is a great place to drop into for lunch as the eclectic layout is always buzzing and prices are very reasonable. Sometimes the food can disappoint, I've had to send back on a couple of occasions, but the fact that I keep coming back shows the draw of the place itself and the staff are very friendly. Summer dining on the upstairs terrace restaurant is just fantastic, if only we had the weather all year round!

went here last night with my two friends on our monthly girls night out, they had never been and it was fantastic!!!! I've never tasted anything like the calamri for starters, my friends had the chicken wings and the smokies, they were fantastic, the atmosphere is lovely, very relaxed and the staff are so attentive without being overly intrusive, I got the cod and chips the only one negative is there is way too many chips a few thick cut chips would be way nicer as I left quite a lot behind only because there were too many, my friend got the pork belly and it was melt in the mouth, a place I love to go to and definitely recommend to anyone visiting Navan.....

This restaurant has come on in leaps and bounds!!!!! We are not strangers to The Central but it was never near the top of our list in Navan. We had just finished a holiday and still in holiday mode so we gave it another try. What a surprise!! They have tidied up their menu choice which was a bewildering collection of pages with an equally bewildering number of price plans. Some of the new dishes are both imaginative and interesting, and while a prawn starter and lamb shank main course does not sound greatly different, it was the way they were cooked, the accompaniments and the presentation that made this one of the tastiest meals we have had in a long time. Whether they have a new chef or kitchen team I do not know, but I am looking forward to another visit. Well worth a visit!!

I have had the good fortune to eat regularly in the Central for the last year or so. Ordinarily I'd have a delicious latté and a warm brownie with cream (equally scrumptious) for an afternoon snack but on the occasion of my birthday I decided to splash out on their 'evening special' of a baked half lobster with a garlic butter with a sweet potato and pepper soup. The Chef cooked the lobster beautifully and I devoured it greedily and happily; to accompany my meal I'd a glass of the house Sauvignon Blanc which complimented both the soup and main course very well. My meal came to less than 35 euro which for me represented good value.

Had a meal on a Saturday night here with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Despite the place being packed (Bar & Restaurant), we were first seated at the bar upon arrival and then quickly shown to our table. We both ordered the prawn pil pil starter and although the prawns were lovely the dipping oil they come with is just that; oil making the dish quite tasteless, although the bread is nice but expected a little more considering the €9 price tag each. For mains we had the Steak (Fillet & Sirloin) and both were cooked as ordered and very nice and tasty. Service was excellent and the blonde waitress looking after us was very attentive throughout the night ensuring we were happy with everything and had drinks etc. As we ordered the top end of the menu and drinks, the overall bill was expensive but we enjoyed it. If the prawn starters were provided with an alternative dipping sauce I would rate the experience and food 5 stars.

Over this place! Gave it 3 chances with food. To say the staff are untrained and useless is an understatement! Maybe it was our bad luck all 3 times to have to wait ages for a soup and a sandwich but I would have been quicker going to supervalu and buying everything, making the soup from scratch and the sandwich myself. Between staff forgetting the orders, and us having to run after them for information on our meal when after 35 minutes there was still no sign is just outrageous. That's a basic! And this happened all 3 times. Actually we did eat in the restaurant once where we had a competent more experienced waitress so actually there was once when it wasn't too bad! Food is good though but overpriced considering the service. What has completely tipped me over the edge to go on this rant is the fact we arrived Friday evening for drinks after having dinner in its sister restaurant in Kells, The Bective. Cannot fault that place at all, the service was great and the Manager was friendly and spent time taking with us even though it was obvious he was busy. What really annoyed me about the Central on Friday was the fact I had to practically beg to have my phone charged behind the bar. I was told by the bar girl that she had to ask the Manager, I told her we had just had dinner in the Bective and had spent alot of money between dinner and a taxi to Navan to come to the Central, the least they could do was charge my phone. It was completely dead and I was waiting on a call from my sister. She then told me I could, but only for 15 minutes and that was it! Not very polite about it either. On average we spent about €200 between both the Bective and the Central that night so it's not as if we weren't paying customers! I was so annoyed. It can't be that much of an inconvenience to charge a phone, My advice is to spend your money in The Bective Restaurant in Kells. You won't regret it!!

I had been dying to come here ever since I seen it open. It looked great, the menu looked great...I was sure I would end up a regular! I had the most disappointing time & have never been so annoyed. The service is diabolical. The waitress rushed us so quick through our orders, I didn't even get a chance to ask for a coffee before she disappeared! I ordered a chicken sandwich & soup for lunch (I can't fault the soup at all) but the chicken was pink. Now raw chicken just turns my stomach at the thought of it (besides the fact it can prove fatal). After waiting 30 minutes for the waitress to come back, I politely said to her "I'm so sorry, the chicken was a bit undercooked (showed her the chicken) so I couldn't finish it I'm afraid! She just angrily took the sandwich away without even an apology. I felt so uncomfortable after as she took it to the other girl & pointed straight at me. I waited & waited for an apology or an explanation but got NOTHING. Most certainly won't be returning.

We were here on a Thursday night and had the early bird menu. Wasnt impressed. Had the goats cheese salad for the starter. There were almonds in it which werent listed on the menu, it was a bit bland. Had the steak for the mian course. It was really nice but the green beans it was served on were burnt on the bottom. We were given chips on the side, vegetables & potatoes would have been better. For dessert we had the chocolate brownie and it was so dry it wasnt nice at all. Service was good and the place is nice but I wouldnt recommend it for the food.
