My family and I went here last Thursday for my sisters birthday. We selected the early bird menu as we had this about 6/8 weeks ago for my babies Christenting, and thought it would be sufficient as it was fabulous then. Once we ordered, everything went downhill 1.) 3 of us were talking and when the starter arrived, as we didn't hear the waitress ask who was having the chicken wings, she raised her voice (considerably) rather than excuse the conversation. She was very rude. 2) the starters were all burnt, (between the group of us, we selected 3 different dishes) 3) again for the main, the food arrived and all of the 4 dishes that we ordered were not good 4). the veg that came with the main courses, were not nice, and there certainly wasn't enough for 7 adults! All in all, we were very very disappointed. Things were that bad, that my mam got a pizza about an hour after they got home as the 4 of them were all starving....!!!!!

Great desserts but disappointing carvery. I had the beef with stuffing and roast potatoes here today.. while my helping was very generous, the beef was quite fatty and bland, and the potatoes tasted dry. My baileys and toblerone cheescake was, however, sublime! overall though at e13 for a mediocre carvery and great dessert, that is just not value for money.

I was looking for somewhere for a meal with my family on a particularly cold Sunday evening. The Newgrange is a warm, family friendly hotel so this seemed ideal. We were seated in the restaurant at 6.30pm so could avail of the early bird menu. This is tremendous value at 15 euro for 2 courses inc tea and coffee or 18 euro for 3. I opted for the mozarella sticks followed by the chicken with a mushroom sauce. Both were good, generous portions and tasty enough. The kids had the usual nuggets and chips. The service is very friendly and prompt. The dining room however is still decorated as it was when the hotel first opened and is very "hotel" in style. This venue would suit families or people looking for "plain" food and value. In all a pleasant inexpensive meal out.

I had stopped eating here as the food so bad but went last week for an early bird with my family not knowing what to expect. Firstly zero atmosphere in restaurant music too low you can hear your neighbours conversations even whispering! Starters were actually ok so I thought hey now things have improved maybe a new chef? However, starters were the only good thing the rest was awful no-one enjoyed their food. This sums it up ... I asked for a side of the veg of the day ... you wont believe it a bowl FULL OF SLICED PARSNIPS AND NOTHING ELSE ... you wouldnt get it in fawlty towers!!

Give this place a miss. I'll not be going back here. Got very poor service and cold food here.
