AWARDS & PRIZES

Most star-rated hotels have their own restaurants and these are inspected by the AA. As with independent restaurants, rosettes from one to five are awarded annually to hotel restaurants for the quality of their food. Not all restaurants receive an AA award, but will generally serve enjoyable food. In 1900, André Michelin published the first edition of a guide to France to help drivers maintain their cars, find decent lodging, and eat well while touring. In 1926, the guide introduced the star to note good cooking; two and three stars were added in the early 1930s. The guide awards one to three stars to a small number of restaurants of outstanding quality.

We had a meal included in our break staying at the hotel so hard to comment on value. When we read the menu I wasn't very excited limited options but to say I was very pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I had ribs for starter which we beautiful and my husband had chicken Caesar salad which he said was ok but that's only because my ribs were just so tasty. For mains we had steak and I took a gamble on baked monkfish in a tikka marinade on a bed of coconut Dahl ( wasn't really sure what this was but it turned out to be lentils) fabulous dish. Desserts were lovely but not outstanding. While staying we also ate in the bar which had great service, good food and decent value for money. Breakfast there was best I've had in years in a hotel. The restaurant didn't seem busy and I would say mostly only hotel guests, it's on the 4th floor away from passing trade but has tremendous views whereas the bar seemed to be very busy for food all day. One thing I would say is the staff seem very happy which rubs off on the customer, nice to see for a change in a hotel.

This is the best restaurant I have eaten in in a long time. It was a pleasure for 2 families of 5 to sit down together and for it to be hassle free with really nice food. The staff were friendly and very quick. They looked after the children very well with a lovely children's menu. I had a Thai chicken curry while my husband was presented with a very large Rib eye steak (gorgeous). It was comfortable and spacious with a lovely view of the Quay. The kids LOVED the very large Jelly and Icecream. Thank you for a lovely meal. Perfect for our family.

Ate here as part of our deal for staying at the hotel. The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect with great views over the bay. I had soup to start which was very tasty and served with a great variety of breads, I then had the pork on a bone which was very tasty also. Great experience :)
