It was Halloween night and the place was buzzing; they put a huge amount of effort into making it a wonderful evening with all kinds of fabulous horror-show decorations set up outside! A great evening... the food was excellent and, even considering how busy they were, they service was friendly and constant. A very enjoyable evening.

Just had our first visit to Fitzpatricks after having had many recommendations, and. Wow! It was so worth the trip from Armagh. As soon as we arrived we were blown away with the whole look of the place, both outside and inside. Fitzpatricks was buzzing and had a lovely homely atmosphere. The menu was fantastic for both myself and my husband and a great selection for the kids too. We travel to a lot of good restaurants all over the North and South and I can honestly say Fitzpatricks has to be up there with the very best! Although a little pricey, the food was really fantastic!! Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. It really was a great dinning experience and we all can't wait to return. FAB !

The antique Atmosphere in this pub/restaurant is just out of this world and is just excellent, a must see for everyone. Not to sure about the cake shop bit at the door when you come into the main restaurant ! ! The starters where excellent as is the main course's which where cooked perfectly. They where all excellent. The only down side to our meal was the sweet menu, it was poor and very average, and was not the sweet menu I remember from years ago. Over all my wife and I had a very nice main meal and will be back soon.

Fitzpatrick's Bar & Restaurant, Co.Louth - 16 February 2012 What an excellent experience we had here, and well worth the drive across from Virginia, before we headed onto Dublin, (following a recommendation). We arrived mid-afternoon and there was still a number of tourists, families, and couples like ourselves, keeping it busy. While awaiting our order, my wife had a glass of wine and I a soft drink and looked about at all the range of antiques that hang from the rafters, and across numerous shelves; mementos of lifetimes now gone by. We chose from the specials menu and on being advised one would take a while, we were treated to an amuse-bouche, a pleasant glass-mug of soup and fresh parsley, a nice touch. My wife's breast of chicken came with the skin crisped, on a bed of cabbage and bacon, atop a bed of champ, surrounded by a mustard sauce. Mine was the pan-fried hake, topped by a crisp slice of parma ham, and two solitary scallops, surrounded this time by what seemed like a light pea sauce. Two little novelty iron pots of creamy mash and a medley of fresh mange-tout, green beans and broccoli made this meal just superb. This was cuisine superb Messrs Fitzpatrick. With no room for desserts, 2 americano coffees were served with 4 complimentary liqueur dark chocolates, heavenly. Our bill was just €41.60, value beyond belief. Can't wait to divert this way again.

Restaurant response:
Thank you so much for your lovely email regarding your meal you had with us on 16/02/2012 Just to let you know the special extras you got were due to it being valentines week, we are delighted you enjoyed everything so much. We did not want you calling again and not receiving the same extras and being disappointed. We are delighted with your comments and hope to see you again soon. Fitzpatrick's Bar & Restaurant

Recently on a saturday evening I and my partner decided to visit fitzpatricks,From the first minute we walked in the door we knew the experience would be unforgettable. From friendly staff to the nice warm fire that was blazing just inside the main door of the restaurant. Before our starter we decided to have a drink,I had a pint of Guinness and my wife had a coke,The pint of Guinness was up there with the very best. For starter i had the seafood chowder and my wife had the mussels, very enjoyable i must say. For the main course I had the scampi and my partner had the chicken kiev, the 2 main courses were delicious. We dedided to finish our experience with 2 Irish coffees and the shamrock on top of each just added that special touch,it was wonderful. I must say that I have been at a lot of restaurants over the years but this is by far the best and I will be back for sure,it gets a very big 10 out of 10 from me.

Ate here about 2 years ago and was back again recently and the first thing that struck me was God - this place has gotten so big headed with it's reputation that they don't even feel the need to bother try any more. Huge let down. Food was more expensive and not half as good or size as it used to be, not to mention the completely flat/watered down soft drinks I ordered. Service was okay, but I kept an eye on the clock and we were literally waiting nearly 40 minutes between courses. Overall I felt ripped off. I had trusted this place to give me value for money and was completely let down. Having discussed this with a few of my friends in the area they said that they had felt the same. This place has gone really down hill and would want to pull their socks up if they want to keep their loyal customers.

Restaurant response:
As the owner of Fitzpatrick's Bar & Restaurant I try to run my premises to a decent standard in every aspect from the car park to the gardens to the food & service, As a person who cares what customers say about my restaurant and I always try to deal with complaints, should it be a cold cup of coffee to bad service. I did send a email to menupages to forward it on to the person who sent in the review, I offered to meet the unsatisfied customer any place and at anytime to discuss their complaint this was almost one month ago and I have heard nothing back as yet. If customers don't complain at the time there is very little I can about their complaint and it takes these customers two months to think of writing a complaint and cant even meet to discuss the problems. If anyone knows me and my wife they will know we are very down to earth people & we treat customers and staff as we like to be treated ourselves. My offer is still available to this customer to meet me and have a coffee to discuss the complaints further.

Called in on a quiet Wednesday night & had our choice of table as it was not overly busy. There was a set €25 menu with 3 courses available. Their signature dish, the seafood chowder was not on the set menu but they said we could have it as the starter. Words cannot decribe how good this pastry topped chowder is. For mains we ordered brill & salmon, both of which were very good. The salmon was suppose to be pine nut encrusted however there was little or no nut flavour off it. Still tasted excellent, as did the side champ & veg. The desserts were a bit disapointing, in a traditional Irish restaurant custard should be thick not the European light runny affair. Service was good though some may have found the waitress a bit rude, personally I liked that she had a bit of personality. Only thing that was slightly annoying was that we were not told we would be charged extra for the seafood chowder as there was an additional charge on the bill. This is fair but believe we should have been informed of this. Overall I do love the food here, but every time I go I always get that feeling from the staff that you should be thanking them for being allowed in the door as opposed to them being thankful of your business. Also please note that the website is not leeting me change the overall rating bar. I would give it 3.5 stars

Visited this pub for dinner on the way home from carlingford. The atmosphere is a reason to visit in itself. very cosy and charming with plenty of interesting antiques to look at. food was presented well, chicken wings and fish pie were fresh and delicious. the only drawbacks are that it is quite expensive although portion sizes are HUGE. I would definatly visit again for the atmosphere and food

Food here is lovely and variety is super. The service is also top notch but its poor value for money when you consider the value that is to be had in other eateries since the recession hit.
