Ate here last night for a Christmas night out. There were 9 of us. Restaurant atmosphere was lovely, it wasn't noisy so we were all able to have a comfortable conversation. Food was lovely and they offered us extra sides with no extra charge. Staff were very friendly. Food servings were big. Would definitely recommend it and will go back there again.

I chose this resto based on the other reviews here but I have to say it doesn't quite match that. We were seated upstairs beside the staircase (i.e. a well aired position, if not the best)and it was so warm that my Spanish mother-in-law commented on it. Not conducive to enjoying your meal. The beetroot hummus starter was nice but needed alot more beetroot to live up to it's name. Fish cakes were ok but capers did not stand out at all. The mains, steak(served less than warm), quinoa (loved it) and the hake (loved it) were all quite nice but everyone did comment that the dishes lacked strong flavours. Nicely cooked, presented but no real flavours stood out. The red cabbage side was very nice, recommended, other sides were standard. I tried the nutty pancakes (as recommended by several people here) but can't say they blew me away.Nice but quite ordinary. Overall it's a nice place but it's not a place to try and impress a date/business partner in. Also found it strange that my menupages.ie booking was declined but calling the resto 20 mins later got me a table no problem ?? Good place, nice building, good location, good staff. Nothing really wrong but nothing excelling either. 3/5.

I have been here a few times, and each time the food was great. There is a wide variety of choice on the menus and its reasonably priced. Linda the host is very friendly and always has time to check if you are ok and enjoying your meal. A visit to Limerick should never go without a visit to Freddies. The atmosphere is very laid back and its quite easy to enjoy yourself and the food here.

had excellent meal on sat last - group of 6 - superb food - compliments to chef and particularly pastry chef for scrumptious desserts and presentation. Will definitely be back.. just one small thing....more time between courses needed - otherwise don't change a thing!!!

Had an excellent evening here last month . Starters were humus and mushroom risotto . Both were lovely with the risotto just getting the nod as I'm a bit of a traditionalist with humus having lived in Syria and Lebanon maybe I'm with what i got too critical but there was absolutely nothing wrong with what i was served actually probably the best attempt at humus i have found in Ireland. Mains were slow cooked pork belly truly delicious and if memory serves me correctly the hake. As we ordered from the early evening menu at 19 euro the value was great. The staff were lovely and most helpful in in every way specially the Maitre Di ( Manageress ) who was particularly friendly and indeed pointed us towards a lovely pub , Gleeson's > where we enjoyed a lovely poetry night . We will be back!

I have been meaning to write a review of this restaurant since we visited last december. as first time visitors to Limerick we used tripadvisor to find restaurant and were not disappointed by this little gem. I especially remember the cod and chick pea and chorizo dish as i have tried to recreate this at home and have always fallen short. Big thumbs up from me.

I went to Freddy's on Valentines with my husband, not sure if its the night that didn't justify their quality, but we certainly were bit disappointed with the food compared to our expectation after reading the reviews. My husband had chicken wing for starter, the wing was too soft like been cooked too long. I had fish cake which was OK. Both main course wasn't bad though. Maybe our expectation was too high, maybe it wasn't a right night to do, but our overall experience wasn't impressed, I say, we'll not rush to give another try in a while.

I found Freddy’s Bistro to be a lovely quaint restaurant with good food. Not all my friends agreed though. I went with a group of friends for a birthday dinner, and we ordered from the set 2-course menu for €20. While not all of us were very impressed, I was lucky that everything I had was great. I ordered a starter of mushroom risotto and a main of mild fish curry, which were both very good. The fish doesn’t seem to be on the menu anymore so I can’t say exactly what kind of fish it was. It was really good though. Two friends had 2 other kinds of fish and they weren’t as impressed. They found theirs to be either uninspiring or dry. One friend had the carbonara and really liked it. The birthday girl also got the sticky toffee pudding, which I loved. I would go back for that pudding alone.

Myself and my girlfriend visited Freddys one evening after work. We booked for 7 and were seated upstairs. The building is lovely very well finished with a nice style. The atmosphere was nice however there was one large party there and another arrived when we were havin our main, by the end the noise was far above a comfortable level. The service was very good with nice friendly staff. The food was the best part of the experience we shared stuffed mushrooms for starter which were beautiful leaving me to wish we hadnt shared. I then had steak for my main course which I have to say was the nicest steak I have had in recent memory. The set course menu is reasonable it includes two courses however not having tea/coffee included is always disappointing. I will most definitely go back to Freddys again.

Freddy's Bistro is a fantastic place to eat in Limerick city. Their early bird menu is terrific value, and there is plenty of choice on it too. Dined there as part of a group of 4 recently. Each of us enjoyed our meals (starters ranged from risotto, to stuffed mushrooms and buffalo wings). Mains also impressed, particularly the cod baked in a banana leaf, and the crab linguine dish. Yum! The only thing I could fault were the young and uninterested waitresses that actually marred our experience. We were served, throughout our meal, by 2 or 3, so this remark is not a slight against any one person. Dishes were thrown down in front of us, or into my hands to place on the table myself (which is something I hate!!!). My friends and I all agreed that the food was tremendous, and we had a wonderful dining experience. However, the uninterested, and at times, rude attitude of the front of house staff did take the gloss off an otherwise wonderful experience. I would award a "hats off" to Freddys had it not been for this. For food and wine, Freddys is a MUST!

Probably one of the better restaurants in limerick city .Food always good , service excellent .Only one issue , and that is the time you have to wait for a table despite reservations .And latly prices getting a little bit high for this type of restaurant .Would recommend though .
