It has been a busy year for the couple behind 1826 Adare, which scooped the prize for Best Restaurant in Munster at the Irish Restaurant Awards on Monday June 9th, 2014.
Top chef Wade Murphy and his wife Elaine took the plunge in May 2013 and opened their own restaurant in this postcard pretty village’s most charming thatched cottage. The rustic cottage setting and chic country décor, paired with food offering freshness, simplicity and keen pricing to match, make a winning combination. Seasonal local produce is the foundation of Wade’s food philosophy, so menus change on a monthly basis, and there are blackboard specials such as whole sole, braised meats and so on changing daily.
Signature dishes include: Warm Chicken Liver salad, with Piccalilli, pickles and Bally greens and Head to Tail Free Range Pork Tasting Plate.
Wade commented “it’s a great achievement for all the team, we’re delighted, honoured & humbled”

Run by Elaine and Wade Murphy, the thatched cottage restaurant that is 1826 Adare, gets its name from the year the first Lord of Dunraven, built the cottage. Situated in the picturesque village of Adare, Wade and Elaine strive to maintain the old world charm and character of the cottage, whilst offering you modern Irish cooking, matched with friendly and attentive service. It was refurbished in May 2013, including a reclaimed mahogany floor, to blend contemporary and traditional styling in this unique setting. Wade and Elaine combine modern comforts for diners with the intimacy of a family-run establishment.

Arrived late, they still accommodated us, but we're insistent the table had to be retuned by 8.15pm. The service was subtle but effective.food was sublime. Had our 17 year old and 8 year old with they loved it. Fresh, delicious food. Can't wait to go back

to be honest i was disappointed as we we waiting 45 mins for the rib eye steak and when it finally did arrive it was mostly tough and unchewable i didn't complain at the time as on the night in question i was a little tired and just wanted to get home but at 140 euro for four steaks and one dessert i didn't feel it was value and would be slow to recommend the place

Went for Sunday Brunch today and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and the service was great. We had our young daughter with us and 2 staff members were so attentive to him which helped make the outing all the more enjoyable. The food was very nice and beautifully presented. Definitely worth a visit!
