AWARDS & PRIZES

Most star-rated hotels have their own restaurants and these are inspected by the AA. As with independent restaurants, rosettes from one to five are awarded annually to hotel restaurants for the quality of their food. Not all restaurants receive an AA award, but will generally serve enjoyable food. We seek out the best establishments in every part of Ireland for inclusion in our guides and, because we work independently and without charging a fee, you know that we can be trusted to lead you to the best places over a wide range of categories. Good Food Ireland is an industry driven food tourism organisation which was established in November 2006. Many good food operators in a cross-section of establishments all around the island from restaurants to accommodation, pubs to food shops to cookery schools wanted to be recognised and endorsed for their commitment to using Irish, local and artisan food produce. They wanted to share experiences and be cooperatively marketed to the domestic and international tourist. Agriculture and Tourism, two vital economies for Ireland have so much in common and are yet so far apart. Through Good Food Ireland the industry from both these sectors share a common belief and come together as one. Good Food Ireland brings you the visitor or domestic consumer what we believe is the only way to get a true taste of Ireland. Every year, the Bridgestone editors set out to find those restaurants that offer the best cooking and the best service in Ireland. This book features grand city restaurants, and tiny little one-room restaurants in the wilds of the country. There are restaurants located on islands, and restaurants that reverberate with the energy and mania of the city. Ireland's Blue Book is a simply divine collection of Irish Country House Hotels, Manor Houses, Castles and Restaurants. Located throughout the country these charming boutique hotels are some of the most stylish and unique places to stay in Ireland. These hotels and country houses are ideal for mid-week and weekend breaks and those seeking romantic hideaways. The Awards are an opportunity to give something back to the Best of Dublin. Restaurants, bars and nightclubs all over Dublin compete for the highly regarded titles across a range of categories, as voted for by inDublin readers and the public. Wine Club

I was not regular customers of the kingfisher NAAS but 1 day me and my some friends go there for dinner...... when we entered in the restaurant we notes the interior was very unique and artistic!! Im very happy because all things done very well and staff was neat clean, very friendly and welcome us very warmly....... I had murg boti and it was really tasty, I tried some of the aloo kabab and the chicken biryani and they were also really nice but my friends had malai tikka boti with naan and pilau rice with korma..... the bill was very reasonable too included two bottles of wine and beers. 0 yes the best thing in kingfisher restaurant NAAS... MUSIC and interior is very artistic!! Also atmosphere is very relaxed and you feel very comfortable....... now i am regular customer because i love good food with good music in good atmospheres!! i would definately recommend to friends!!

I went to the kingfisher with my family and I had high expectations due to the awards the restaurant has received. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were good too. I had aloo tikki for starters and it was really tasty, I tried some of the vegetable samosa and the tikka chicken and they were also really nice. For my mains I had chicken korma which was delicious but my partner had lamb rogan josh which was a little bland (he had asked for extra spice) the bill was very reasonable too, it worked out at 30 euro a head between 6 which included two bottles of wine and beers. The things I found to be disappointing were that we were left waiting a long time before our order was taken, we were never offered dessert menus. They could also improve on the little things like perhaps complimentary mints with the bill just to make the experience extra special. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend as it is quite nice but I don't think I would go back as I have been to other Indian restaurants in the Laois area which exceed this one.

I have recently returned to the area and am delighted to be able to once again frequent this Restaurant. Delicious food, well prepared and presented beautifully by very courteous and friendly staff. The ambience is always very pleasant and I would be happy and proud to bring guests and visitors for an evening out to this Restaurant.

I went there a couple of times with my partner as we love Indian food... We had the mixed meat starter and it was nice, but nothing special. Chicken tikka was tasty, but have eaten better many times. Overall the restaurant is lacking atmosphere. There is another much better indian in portlaise.

The Chicken and Chese starter was the really tasty. The Lamb Shish was different - it was baked in pastry and wasn't as spicy as I expected. The Chicken Tikka Masala was really good. The service was excellent. I would go back here again.

That was an exceptional night out with my partner, we were lucky to have our table ready as they were full at all times. They had a choice of set menu and la carte menu but rather choosing set menu we decide to choose our favorite dishes from the la carte. We had beautiful starters and the presentation were fabulous which gave the dishes a 10/10 and for the main course which was another unbelievable flavour and we get the same whenever we go there but that night i think they had some special chefs from UK and that was amazing. We had a few Kingfisher beers which had a great compatibility with our main courses and desert was homemade kulfi haven't found it anywhere yet love the rose we got. My partner goes there regularly with her friends and i go there whenever am in Portlaoise or travelling by Portlaoise. Experience of Indian food we never had it anywhere from Belfast to Cork and Waterford to Donegal. I give 100/100 to Kingfisher.

After a long week, a friend and I decided to herald in the weekend with a meal in the Kingfisher Restaurant. This was our third visit after two great previous experiences. The restaurant is situated in a lovely old building and the interior is nicely done with wonderful high ceilings, and the tables aren't on top of one another. The menu is extensive, so a lot of time was spent studying it trying to figure out what to have. I had a chickpea starter (Chana Chaat) which was as tasty & tangy as described, and I followed that with a Prawn Chilli Masala. Both courses were delicious and very generous portions. My friend had the charcoal grilled chicken (Mongolian Aag) to start and a Lamb Jalfrezi for the main. She really enjoyed both and was wondering how on earth she was going to finish everything! We had Peshwari Naans & Steamed rice on the side. The Kingfisher isn't cheap, but with most starters under €10 and main courses in the mid-teens we felt that it was great value. The food was delicious and The service was attentive and friendly, and if something is particularly spicy they will warn you in advance to be sure you want it that hot! We didn't have any alcholic drinks this time, but beer and wines are available. We will definitely be back again.
