This book features grand city restaurants, and tiny little one-room restaurants in the wilds of the country. There are restaurants located on islands, and restaurants that reverberate with the energy and mania of the city.

I've always been a fan of Zuni's restaurant although a recent visit to their cafe for lunch left me disappointed. Maybe it's because I've been coming here for years and was quite attached to the old layout of comfy chairs but I don't like the new cafe style. It feels a bit cold and slightly cheap. The food wasn't great, I had a salad with smoked salmon, tuna and prawns w/wasabi dressing and pickled ginger. I couldn't taste the wasabi and the whole thing was so small I had to check with the waitress that I'd got the large and not the appetiser size. My friend's curried risotto type dish was just plain odd. Service was great though!

I like zuni for breakfast. Good coffee, atmosphere and good food. The eggs benidict is worth a try
