AWARDS & PRIZES

We seek out the best establishments in every part of Ireland for inclusion in our guides and, because we work independently and without charging a fee, you know that we can be trusted to lead you to the best places over a wide range of categories. Good Food Ireland is an industry driven food tourism organisation which was established in November 2006. Many good food operators in a cross-section of establishments all around the island from restaurants to accommodation, pubs to food shops to cookery schools wanted to be recognised and endorsed for their commitment to using Irish, local and artisan food produce. They wanted to share experiences and be cooperatively marketed to the domestic and international tourist. Agriculture and Tourism, two vital economies for Ireland have so much in common and are yet so far apart. Through Good Food Ireland the industry from both these sectors share a common belief and come together as one. Good Food Ireland brings you the visitor or domestic consumer what we believe is the only way to get a true taste of Ireland. Every year, the Bridgestone editors set out to find those restaurants that offer the best cooking and the best service in Ireland. This book features grand city restaurants, and tiny little one-room restaurants in the wilds of the country. There are restaurants located on islands, and restaurants that reverberate with the energy and mania of the city.

Limited options for special dietry requirements and the so called vegetarian options aren't cooked seperately from meat etc very misleading won't be going again.

I had been dubious of how anocht was to transform from a daytime food hall to an evening restaurant setting and I was pleasantly surprised by the relaxed ambience and stunning views. The food was simple and incredibly well executed. The wine list was extensive and the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and made some excellent recommendations. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for value and quality in Kilkenny.

We visited during the Savour food festival and were delighted with our meal. I had the cod with mussels and he had the beef for mains. Both were melt in the mouth, wonderful flavours. The staff were great, couldn't do enough for us. We'll be back to try the regular menu soon.

Went here for a quick lunch and was disappointed, The food on display looked tired and we both had the soup and panini option and it was a mistake, The soup was sludge colour and tasted of cauliflower which had been frostbitten and the panini was stodgy and unappetising. We will definitely not return.

Went there after a nice walk for a coffee and dessert. Lovely atmosphere, the cake was home made and really nicely served. Would definitely go back.
