We're a young couple who went there for the first time. Service was dreadful - however, everyone else seemed to be attended to quite well? Trying to attract the staff's attention to pay the bill was a complete waste of time - I had to pay at the bar in the end as they didn't come near our table after dessert was served... The manager spent an inordinate amount on his phone and, as someone who works in the service industry, I know this is unacceptable... Just because we are young does not mean we don't enjoy eating out - we are on minimum wage and it takes quite a chunk of our pay to afford to go out to eat. This was a special occasion, our first time here and, most definitely, our last...

Cant remember if I have ever given a 5 star review to any business or shopping experience but this is well deserved of ever star. I cant wait to come visit again. Service was just brilliant right from the second walking into Stone Haven Restaurant. Our waitress was brilliant. Delighted to have tasted such beautiful meals. Woke up Sunday morning still thinking of how good dinner was. Many many thanks all at Stone Haven Restaurant looking forward to our next visit. Well done. Just a note that in the toilets there are a few areas of general wear that need some tidying. Did not take from the visit but just keep up with the rest of the Restaurants excellent standards. Many thanks all.

We went for our usual steak on the stone and it did not disappoint. The fillet is consistently good and the portion size excellent. The Stonehaven is our favorite place to go for a steak. Well done for continuing to offer such good value for money.

I was looking forward to this last visit to Stone Haven as my prior meal there was very good. I won't be going back. All aspects of this visit were horrible. Waited too long, even with a reservation. Dirty table. Dirty surroundings. Slow service (it wasn't that busy). Poor appetisers. The meat portion of my main course was nice. Everything else was way overcooked (soggy vegetables anyone?) or cold. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I have visited this restaurant a lot over the past few years and the food has always been really nice. i love the garlic mushrooms to start they are in a creamy sauce and a nice change from the usual breaded ones. the portions are a very good size and for the price (we had the early bird menu) you definitely get your money's worth. I had the vegetarian pasta and the main course comes with either salad and chips or potatoes and veg. we shared a dessert and it was very nice. The staff are always lovely and friendly and we will definitely be back

Ate here recently and was left with a very sour taste in my mouth, My partner and I ordered off a menu offering two courses for €17 per person which normally would be good value. We both had mushrooms in a creamy sauce to start with which were ok but when we asked for bread to accompany the starter were brought down two tiny slices of brown bread. I ordered the joint of the day, which was bacon and cabbage, served with a side of vegetables. Note to staff: when a restaurant is completely empty on a Sunday at lunchtime, surely you can remember to put a spoon into the vegetable dish for serving? My partner ordered off the same menu, and when he ordered said he wanted the fillet of plaice, while pointing to that very dish on the menu. The waiter replied is that the fish of the day, to which my partner replied yes. As we didn't write the menu and my partner was pointing at what he wanted, I don't think I am out of line is saying we expected to receive fish from the menu that we had open and were pointing at. Anyway, a fillet of fish arrived and again was okay but nothing to write home about. When we went to pay we were expecting a bill for €34 plus the cost of the coke that I had had but were charged €50. When we questioned this we were told we had ordered the fish of the day, which was a fillet of hake and cost €23!!! Surely this should have been pointed out when we ordered? Felt really cheated. Aside from this, restaurant was completely empty, quite cold even though we were sitting beside a radiator and completely lacking atmosphere. I used to live in Maynooth and have visited this restaurant in the past and was always impressed. After my most recent visit I will never go back again. Restaurant owners need to learn that in this economy people are much more choosy about where they spend their hard-earned cash and they can no longer get away with the shoddy service that would have been expected in the past. Most restaurant seem to have realised this - not the Stonehaven

Ate here on a friend's recommendation. From the street it looked like the restaurant wasn't even open. It took us a few minutes to find the entrance. Glancing at the menu the food looked interesting and the choice was good. My friend and I shared the chicken spring rolls for starters. They were greasy and flavourless. Presentation was poor and salad was lettuce only. For main course I had chicken szechuan and my friend had chicken fajitas. Both were very disappointing and neither of us finished our meals. The food wasn't freshly prepared and as mentioned already it lacked flavour. Needless to say we didn't stay for dessert. The food is below average and overpriced for what it is.

A group of us visited Stone Haven recently for a farewell dinner, and it was just as good as we remembered from our college days. Stone Haven currently have a set menu deal of three courses for €20, which is excellent value, if a little restrictive in choice. From this menu I had the cajun mushrooms, which were delicious, the Guinness steak and mushroom pie, which was lovely if a little homely for a restaurant, and the After Eight dessert, which I couldn't fault. The restaurant was pretty busy considering it was a Tuesday, which says a lot about it, but service was always prompt yet not intrusive. Stone Haven is an old favourite of mine, and I'm glad it's just as good as I remember.

Had a lovely girly dinner here with 4 friends. This is a nice little restaurant tucked away in Maynooth. I had prawns to start and they were lovely, served with a sweet chili sauce. The lamb cutlets were nice however slightly overcooked. There were 4 nice sized cutlets on the plate. Veg was disappointing. Something you would expect to get in a pub, not a restaurant. My friends had chicken stirfry, and chicken fajitas which both looked lovely, and again there was plenty on the plate. There has always been a quirky addition to the menu here, and that was ostrich. They have been known to serve kangaroo! The stone haven is good for small and medium sized groups. Service is prompt and very friendly.

I think I was a little disappointed with this place because it looks so lovely from the street. The restaurant is in the basement of the building, so there is no natural light. The staff were friendly and fairly attentive. The options for Sunday lunch had the usual options of fish, steak and chicken and vegetarian. A three course meal is €20 which is very good, but the quality of the food probably reflects the price, it's grand...but just that. I probably won't go back again. Also I found the music incredibly irritating.
