Overall a great little restaurant. A few friends and I decided to try out this restaurant after hearing about lots about it. Before I begin the only complaint I have is the location - we did not even know it was there. On the whole we were thrilled - a real gem. Great atmosphere - very relaxed but efficient service. They have a great varied menu and focus on local quality ingredients. To top it all off its BYO - bring your own bottle and there is no corkage. I had the Gorgonzola chicken - fab. I could not finish my side orders - they were too big. I also tasted the pate which was superb. All in all a great, affordable night out.

I have to say, this is a lovely local restaurant with tasty food and a great atmosphere. I went here with a group of friends to celebrate my husband's birthday at the end of January. It's only a small room and the tables are close together but it all adds up to make a lively atmosphere. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful and as we were sitting near a small fridge, she put our wine/beer into the fridge for us so it would stay cold but we could still get to it when we wanted. The choice on the menu is a little limited but out of 7 people there on the night not one of us had a bad meal. I think you can be guaranteed a fish, chicken, steak and special meal so there's sure to be something to suit everyone. The portion sizes were generous, the price was really great and the home made chips that came with the meal were gorgeous. The chef came out at the end of the night to make sure everyone was happy with their meal which I think is a nice touch and there was in general a great buzz around the place. I've been there for lunch too, which was also lovely and very reasonably priced and I will be going back for dinner at the end of this month - I really would recommend this to anyone.

9.5 out of 10 for this family run restaurant – simple dining room, simply stupendous food. Just after finishing dinner at the Rye River Cafe. When we arrived at 7.30 n a Saturday one other table occupied. Was offered any other table by a lovely waitress who later turned out to be the owners sister. As this is a BYOB restaurant we brought a half bottle which our waitress opened without making us feel cheep for doing the BYOB thing. I had mussels marinere (sp?) to start. They were fantastic. My darling lady wife has a salad of egg and chese that sounded naff to me but was inspired. Served with seasonal berries, greens like I have never seen before and yummie salty parmagannio. For our starters we gave the food 9.5 out of 10. Mains were a Spanish fish stew for me and marinated fillet steat for my far more attractive partner. Served with veg, potatoes and fries. Portion size was large but no American. If the food was anymore flavoursome we would have exploded. It was absolutely wonderful food. Truly gorgeous. The chef came out to ask how our food was. We told him honestly it was super. For desert we shared a strawberry pavlova. This was good food but not as spectacular as the first 2 courses but on nearly any other evening it would have got a 9 out of 10, tonight we gave it 7 out of 10. As we were dining the restaurant became quite busy which was love lot see. We discovered this restaurant that doubles as a cafe during the day is a family affair. While the dining room is quite basic and the menu a tad limited you have ample choice and the food quality is as good as you will get anywhere. And all for 20 for 2 courses and 24 for 3 courses. Overall 9.5 out of 10!

I've been here a few times since they started doing the evening meals as in Kilcock we're not exactly spoiled for choice on options. The food is always excellent and the bring your own bottle makes the night a cheap night out considering you get a 3 course for 23.95. On this particular night I got strips of beef in chilli and soy sauce, it was so tender and tasty and a really big portion which is a rare thing. For main I got the seafood melody with seabass, cod and monkfish, everything was cooked perfect and juicy. Husband got fillet steak and was equally happy. Will be regular customers for definite!

I just LOVE what this café is doing here. Great to have a local eatery serving Irish food. The menu is short but there are specials every day. I had the spicy pork rib with organic honey for starter. The honey was a revelation. BF had duck spring rolls - so much duck filling! For mains I had the special of seafood medley. The prawns, red mullet, and cod were outstanding. Perfectly cooked and delicious. The Seabass on the bone was a little disappointing. I couldn't eat it for all the bones. BF had the fillet steak (asked for medium rare but came rare) with bernáise sauce. TO DIE FOR!! The steak was so good, any more cooked would've spoiled it so good call chef! I normally don't have dessert but at €19.95 for 2 and €23.95 for 3 courses I wanted to try everything. I got the baileys bread & butter pudding with hot custard and he got the sticky toffee waffle pud with Italian vanilla ice-cream. Mine could've had more baileys flavour but both were tasty and comfort food at its best. The service was great and the chef came around to talk to all the diners 1/2 way through. I said it to him about the sea bass and I accepted his premise that the sea bass has more flavour cooked on the bone. I still like my fish boneless as bones can put me off. I love the "bring your own" wine element and in all the value was outstanding. We heard the chef say to another couple that the menu changes weekly. We will be back very soon to try it.

I had dinner here on Saturday Night with two friends and was so impressed to have a restaurant like this on our doorstep. I had Homemade Pate to Start, it was really good. For my Maincourse I went with Monkfish, the most amazing Monkfish I've ever had, just melted in my mouth, the chef came over to our table to see if we were enjoying the meal, such a nice touch! We also brought our own bottle (no corkage) and had Crepes for desert with a cappuccino, the coffee here is just amazing! All of this came to less than €25, I was so stunned, for such a high class meal. We'll all be back.....again and again. Well done Rye River Cafe!!!

We discovered this place recently when we stopped in for breakfast, and when we were told they were opening for evening meals we just had to come back. I had the seafood chowder which was served with two pieces of homemade bread. It was heavenly with big chunks of fish and shellfish in a lovely creamy base. My husband had the goats cheese which he thoroughly enjoyed. He followed with the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and I had the steak which melted in my mouth. We shared a desert of rich chocolate fudge cake which again was just lovely! The BYO policy with no corkage! is a first for Kilcock and coupled with the fact the food is sooo good we will be very regular customers! Fantastic atmosphere, great food, friendly service, and great vaule for money whats not to like!

I visted on sat night, it was their first night to open as it was a daytime cafe since Nov 09 so I wondered how they would make the transformation to night. I have to congradulate them,French Bistro style with white table cloths and a relaxing athomsphere,(a little haven in Kilcock). My son and his wife brought me for mothers day and were very impressed on first sight. There was a set menu with plenty of choicesand you could have two or three courses. I started with Pate (homemade and really good) for mains I had grilled Tuna OMG as the kids say, fresh and done just right,( I only have tuna on holidays as its usually frozen here). You bring your own wine, a plus (got a really good) and cheaper than any restaurant. we ended with a cheese board, served with grapes and berries, a great finish to a great night. We have decided that this is going to be our restaurant of choice in the future
