Zest Café & Restaurant began life back in June 2003. Owner Mark Condron has created an establishment known for its great food and warm welcome. Along with his young and vibrant team they have created a venue with quality and passion at its core.

The kitchen at Zest Café has been led by Alan O’Regan since its inception. Alan has worked in many of Dublin’s best loved restaurants before joining Zest.
The word zest aptly describes Alan’s approach and use of flavours in his cooking, with his use of clean and distinct flavours creating interesting and eclectic menu options.
Alan and his team use only the best ingredients, local if possible, to create delicious and unfussy food.
Zest operates as a café during the day with all the classic lunchtime offerings of exquisite soups, chowders, stews & mouth watering salads. At night it gets a little more serious but yet relaxing transforming itself into a smart bistro with set tables and intimate lighting. In the evening you can choose from an array of fish, game and beef options, accompanied by a wine from our carefully chosen wine list, most of which are served by the glass. Alternatively you can pop in for a delicious pizza and a beer.

This is a nice restaurant, excellent service and quality of food. They had an extensive lunch menu that would suit any diner- from brunch options, to sandwiches, salads as well as mains. I had the burger with cashed blue cheese and my friend had the braised beef blade. Both were served on a brioche bun. The beef blade was a substantial size for what one might think was a sandwich. It was so tender and flavoursome along with the celeriac remoulade which really complimented it. You could add chips, soup or a salad for €2 which was modestly priced. The burger was really good too but I had to send it back as there was a lot of pink meat and blood in it. Some people may like it like this so it was my personal preference as I like mince meat to be cooked through. I also don't like when the juicy blood soaks into the bun making it red. They didn't mind me asking to get it cooked a little more and even gave me a fresh portion of chunky fries when they returned. The burger was driving with cashed blue cheese and the burger itself was still nice and juicy. I thoroughly enjoyed it

I have been to Zest Café on a number of previous occasions with my wife as we thoroughly enjoy dining here. I brought my parents who were visiting from the UK (and who regularly dine out) to the restaurant and their feedback summarises the overall experiences "every course was delicious and the service was excellent".

Myself and my husband had breakfast here a couple of weeks back. My husband ordered the full Irish breakfast with brown soda bread. Its the first time I have seen him leave food on his plate because he was so full. The waitress asked him if the soda bread was ok because she noticed he didn't finish it all. He said the bread was delicious but the portion of breakfast was so generous and well cooked he couldn't possibly manage another bite. I ordered the free range poached eggs and bacon on a bagel with homemade relish. Again quite substantial with two perfectly poached eggs, two bacon, lovely bagel and relish to die for. If I could only bottle it and bring it home. We also had a glass of milk, a tea and a decaf latte with our breakfast and our bill came in around 20 euro. Well worth every cent. A nice relaxed bistro and the staff are friendly, efficient and welcoming. we will definitely return and look forward to sampling the lunch and dinner menus.

I'm very disappointed with food. We had 3 types of pasta and chocolate pudding with ice cream for kids. Pasta used was very cheap. They could at least use good quality Italian pasta if they choose to serve Italian food. Food was greasy and didn't taste like it was even in 50% made from fresh ingredients. Dessert tasted like it was made in microwave (my husband agreed), I know what i'm talking about cause i use to make it myself and tasted dry and horrible just like their one. I don't recommend unless you don't care what you eat. I will not be coming back for sure.

Really enjoyed this Cafe, lovely food, very friendly staff and lovely buzz. Would recommend. One of the party didn't like their desert but that was just a personal taste. Would go back again.

For a small town Clane boasts a beauty when it comes to Zest. Extremely welcoming staff and a bright comfortable setting. There's visibility to the kitchen (always reassuring when you can see the chef in action!). I shared a pizza and pasta with my other half and we also had a bowl of beautifully cooked crispy french fries. Nicely priced and extremely tasty!

Went here for brunch today. First time ever going to this restaurant. It was absolutely freezing inside, we sat with our coats on the whole time. I had eggs benedict, they were delicious. Son had pizza, it was nice, but the base was unsual, not sure if it was puff pastry or what, but it tasted ok, he ate it all. Daughter had fish and chips and it was delicious. Hubby had smoked salmon bagel, he said it was fine, but nothing great really. Overall it was a success, the staff were very friendly. I did tell the girl that it was very cold and she told me she was having problems with the air conditioning... I will return.

Great spot with a good selection on the menu. Main courses are amazing, although a little bit disappointed with the size of the starter. Very cosy, intimate surroundings. Don't be put off by external setting, it's a little bit off the mainstreet and overlooks a bland car park, but when you're inside you don't even notice. Highly recommend. Pizzas are amazing !!!

Zest was recommended to us and we have been meaning to eat there for ages. The opportunity arrived and we weren’t disappointed. The food was lovely and the restaurant was very busy for a Sunday evening. The calzone and pizza’s are very good. Disappointed by the small starters but the mains made up for it. I would recommend Zest for a couples night out. Not very buggy friendly. Car damaged in car park which put a dampener on the evening.

Despite promising ourselves that we will go to Zest for dinner some night we again headed there for breakfast. And what a breakfast. As good as I have tasted. Fresh tasty with no grease, its a full Irish with little guilt. My wife had poached eggs on a bagel and they were perfect. The orange juice was lovely and the service prompt and friendly. The only reason its not five stars is the fact we havent been more adventurous. Maybe when we get over for dinner. Which again this morning we promised ourselves we would.

Zest is a great little bistro. Open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We eat here several times month and the food is always good quality, well prepared and very tasty. I would say it's a little bit pricier than a similar bistro would be in Dublin, but that's to be expected, as they don't have so much competition. I'd also recommend the takeaway pizza, much higher quality than you'd expect from a takeaway.

Happened upon this place while out cycling with a friend and we popped in for brunch not expecting too much from somewhere tucked out of the way. We both really enjoyed our eggs benedict, excellent hollandaise sauce which can often be quite poor in places. Brought my fiance back for dinner and we really enjoyed our evening there, food was great. My chocolate desert was everything a chocolate lover could hope for! I had the pate brioche and it was quite good, and the chicken for main. I hardly ever order chicken but it sounded so good I just had to this time and I was not dissappointed. My partner ordered the asparagus to start which was gorgeous and the lamb kofta for main which I did not taste but he assured me was delicious and filling. We both had a glass of the house red and it was good. Zest represents great value for money, a nice ambiance and staff/service were great. I could not fault them. This restaurant will definitely become a regular for me.

On our recent visit to Zest we were delighted to see that all the elements that make it a great restaurant are still there; excellent fresh wholesome food, fantastic wines, friendly staff and buzzing atmosphere. We were even more delighted to see that their menu is even better value than before and thankfully this hasn't compromised portion sizes or food quality. My only complaint was biting down on a completely frozen potato wedge in my side order. It was very off putting and I couldn't eat any of the wedges after that. Having mentioned this to the waitress, I was disappointed to find that I was still charged for the side order.

Brought my in-laws to Zest cafe for pizza and beer. The crust of the pizzas are thin and crispy and there are plenty of toppings on the pizza. We actually found that pizza was all we needed as they're big and very tasty. Have been there before and the food and service has always been to a very high standard. Would recommend!
