Had a fantastic meal here with a beautiful simple setting. My husband had the fish platter and it was to die for. The service was excellent and the price very good. Portions werent miserable either. Would happily visit again!

Food is really excellent, the restaurant is lovely - the decor, lighting etc. Very good value for money. Other than the rudest waiting staff in the world this would be a fantastic little restaurant!

Went for a meal in the Olivier during the week, absolutely loved it, it's no wonder they won the best casual restaurant in Leinster award! definitely be back!

Last visited here in December with my husband for a Friday evening snack. Food is always well presented, fresh and tasty. The chocolate desert is to diefor!! Being a local and having visited the restuarant a number of times in the last 6 months the one comment I would have is that the menu could do with some changing and updating. It is the one thing stopping us going back more often

Was here on two occasions, and was very happy with my first meal here but on my most recent to the place about a month ago, I was not happy at all. I got the tartlet for starters with a crazy sorbet on the side as my g/f would say, really didnt think they went well together so thus left the sorbet firmly on the side of the plate, she had the mussels which were nice. For mains I had the rib eye steak which was nice but not worth the money that you pay for it, the main bone of contention of this review was my g/f main course dish which was the Spaghetti with Prawns & OIL. It was a disgrace that such a good restaurant should let a plate with so much oil go out to the customer. The Spaghetti was literally swimming in the stuff, can still see it now. Also the staff were okay but when they saw my g/f practically full plate they didnt ask once throughout the whole meal, was everything okay. I wouldn't say I wont go again but will find it genuinely hard to recommend this restaurant to anyone after this experience. Hope people find this review helpful even if it wasn't a good experience this time.

Restaurant response:
Firstly, I would just like to say that we were never once asked by your husband was the meal okay, he never once came to our table, I can assure you of that. The waitress on the night was the only person that had come to our table throughout the evening. Its just that I had been there once before with my family, its just on our last visit we found our food not up to the standard of the time before. My girlfriend had to eat the prawns because she was very hungry as she really couldn't stomach the spaghetti in the oil, I am not saying this out of spite as I genuinely like your restaurant, and I believe that you care for the quality of food coming out of your kitchen and your customers, otherwise you wouldn't respond to your customers comments on this website which I find great, that customers know that if something was wrong or fantastic that you take the time to read their comments and reply back. It was just a bad experience for my girlfriend, and I just wanted to air my opinion on the matter.

This is my favourite restaurant ever! I just love it here. I have eaten here a lot and every time I am more impressed. The value is just amazing for the price. On one occasion that my friend and I ate here, we both had Bread and Butter for Starter, which may I say is freshly baked when ordered, it's perfectly cooked so it is crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. I had a pasta dish (with the pasta dishes, if you do not fancy something that's on the menu and you know of a certain pasta sauce, and the ingredients, they are more than happy to make it up for you. You can also choose the type of pasta you would prefer, for example Penne, Spaghetti or Taglitelle, but you must ask for this as the dishes are named with the type of pasta they generally are served with) and she had a 12" pizza (which are homemade thick crust yumminess!!) And we both had an ice cream dessert (You can choose from a dessert like tarts, but we normally go for the ice cream desserts, which may I add are not just ice cream, there are many different flavours, for example, Banoffi, or Chocolate. They are served in tall glasses with scoops of ice cream and in the Banoffi for example, with biscuit and banana and toffee sauce, with a Chantilly cream, and a decoration, which differs every time we eat here)... And it only came about €30! The food is absolutely amazing. Highly highly recommended!

This was my 1st time in L;Olivier, after reading reviews on menupages I said I will give it a try. We went for lunch, I had spaghetti bolognese and my boyfriend had the penne carbonara and a side order of chips, we both had coca cola to drink. On the day we were there, the special was any main course plus a drink for €9 each.In total we paid €21.50 for this meal. Both meals were very tasty and we will definately be returning to this restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Myself and my partner moved to newbridge and found this little restaurant in the side streets. The staff are friendly and helpful. We went for an early bird, I had the most amazing ham and mushroom pizza, it was delicious and garlic bread for starters and my partner had lasagna and chips. They also does a great lunch special. Its is not the fanciest restaurant in the world but it really is great value for money.

On reading some of the other reviews here I decided to try this place for lunch when I was in Newbridge on Saturday. It was great value, the pizza I had was everything a pizza should be, and my partner's goat's cheese lasagne was really tasty. I have to say I probably wouldn't have tried L'Olivier had I just been walking past as it doesn't look much from the outside! But I'd love to come back here and try it for dinner some time.

Found this place tucked away in a quiet side street and as it was early evening we liked the fact that some tables were already taken which was a good indicator. On entering we were warmly greeted and found the atmosphere to be warm. The four of us all went for the French onion soup which was laced with cheese and croutons, just the right starter on a frosty evening. Our mains ranged from pizza to chicken and rabbit, all served with delicious sauces and sides. The French Cote du Rhone was reasonably priced and a second bottle was ordered. With 3 desserts and two coffees our bill was under €150. Lovely experience, we will be back.

A wonderful little bistro style resturant, simply decorated with a oddment of french and italian influenced pictures and ornaments, the menu has mis- spelt many items and the translations can be a bit off but the food is simple, creative and delicious. Dress casually, enjoy some wine and bring good company. Definitely order the chocolate surprise!

Last minute booking for my mams 50th Birthday on a recommendation. Well, let me now pass that recommendation on. The place is tucked up a little sie lane, but that makes it exclusive as opposed to "back street". The menu here on Menupages is not a reflection of their main menu, perhaps they should update it. Child friendly, but if your in a group, I would suggest asking for upstairs tables, where its all laid out like outdoors, with large patio umbrellas etc.. I phoned and mentioned it was a birthday dinner, but PLEASE be warned, you CANNOT bring a cake yourself, and need to order one in advance from them. I was not informed of this when I phoned, and its not on the information here, so I was a little annoyed. But I asked could they put my candles on a dessert, and they obliged. 8 for dinner, so mixture of everything. Garlic bread lovely, but the spring rolls are to die for! They are gooey cheese in filo pastry, more mozarella sticks than anything. Steak, Veal Burgers and Chicken with Mushroom Sauce on Risotto was all polished off, with plates scraped clean!. Childrens menu includes ice cream and drink, and jr was delighted with her freshly cooked, stonebaked pizza. Try the house special dessert, even comes with coffee on the plate! Probably more suited for a romantic dinner, than a large group, as its quite quiet, but a lovely place, and highly recommended!

I had written a review for this restaurant back in March 2008 and I still have the same comments--pizzas and pastas are good and the lunch menu deal is good value. The major criticism I have is regarding the owner - could be a lot friendlier towards customers--I get the feeling sometimes that they aren't happy when you walk through the door, although I'm sure this isn't the case. It's not the first time I've had that feeling, it's every time, they are quite stand-offish and doesn't say much or anything. It doesn't cost a thing to smile at your customers. I actually hesitate to write this given the replies to some of the other posters comments here. That said, I'm not sure they've ever heard the saying, 'the customer is always right' - as a previous poster here advised that they had too much oil in their meal, then I wouldn't be so defensive about it, just take it on board. Kids should be catered for more also and possibly offered a lower priced kids menu. And I did notice that someone who asked for a highchair was given one that was dirty and had to clean it themselves. All in all, it's a good restaurant, good value for money and consistently tasty food which is why we go back from time to time. I think that if the attitude and atomsphere was changed I would frequent the restaurant more.
