On a previous visit I rated Bardons a top 5 mark. However sadly my last visit was an utter disaster. It was a busy Saturday night before Xmas when i took a friend out for a nice dinner in what used be my favourite place to eat in Kildare, Bardons. We were waiting one hour and half for a table and we noted locals getting tables before us. The lady who finally gave us a table was rude and we felt we really were an inconvenience. The food arrived after another 35 minutes wait and was just bland and dished up in a hurry. So we wont be back needless to say

Had to wait ten minutes for the table but the food & service as before was top notch, a great atmosphere and a great place to eat. Staff can't do enough for you. We stayed on after we eat and were entertained by two musicians who were very talented by the name of Beefy I think. strongly recommended and we will go again.

Very enjoyable evening. We have visited Bardons several times but this was our first time dining. A party of four we all ordered something different the choice was excellent. When the food arrived it exceeded expectations and the service was quick and very friendly. Well worth a visit.

Good food, good price, a bit tough to talk over the meal due to general pub background noise but overall a worthwhile evening.

My first visit to Bardon's to eat, and will not be my last. The food was excellent, tasty and great value for money, I cannot compliment the floor staff enough, they were friendly and service was efficient, any business would be lucky to have them. The place on the whole had a friendly welcoming feel about it. Well done Bardons

Pub grub doesn't really get much better than this. With an evening menu of 2 courses for 15 euro..how could one complain. With a large selection to choose from and great value for money...its simply great food that will fill even the largest of appetites! We've been a few times and have yet to be disappointed with the food..the chicken curry is a must! I did prefer the skinny chips ..although the chunky ones are fab, sometimes its like eating a meal with a meal and not chips as a side. The only thing i can fault here is the service. Friday/Saturday nights are always jammed with people ordering food and there can be quiet a wait sometimes, however in saying that..a lovely pub to sit back and relax with a few drinks so the wait is not always that noticeable. I would advise booking a table at weekends, especially if going with a group as it tends to be pretty full.

I have to say this is one of my favourite places for food at the moment, I have eaten here twice in the last 2 weeks, the food here is very good for the price you are paying. The menu is quite varied, they also do daily specials. The portions are very good. The highlight for me was the Toblerone Cheesecake. Service was a tad slow, but this seemed to be due to the fact that every table was full.

never been before, but a group of us decided to check out the new sunday lunch offering. we were promptly served and the staff were nice, but u could see straight away, why the lunch offer was such "good" value. the quality of the food was quite unspectacular and plain, we ate it and it was ok, but it wasnt good quality ingredients and the desserts were very poor. cheap bought in thrown onto a plate straight out of the box kind of thing. reading the previous reviews on this page before, i couldnt believe it. not impressed!!!

I've reviewed bardons before and have been a long time happy customer, however their service has gone downhill rapidly recently, all due to one sour waitress. On a recent visit we walked in, spotted 2 tables beside each other and sat at one of them. Within seconds this lady was over demanding to know if we had booked. Now, we have been coming here for 5 years and have never once booked a table. It's a PUB. So we explained that we didn't know we needed to book, and she snapped that another couple were waiting for a table. The fact that this couple were actually sitting at the other free table seemed to have escaped her. She then mentioned it again when she dropped down our drink order and AGAIN when she brought down the cutlery. I actually asked the manager what the issue was, and he just rolled his eyes at her. So is obviously used to her behaviour. On another recent visit, I asked a question about their special offer, and if I could replace a potato part with a salad. Rather than say yes or no she tutted, snapped that if I'm not happy with the special offer to just order from the main menu, she then went on about how she can't do specials for everybody etc. So I asked for another minute. When we were ready to order, another waiter came to take our order, when I placed it, he suggested I order from the special offer to save a bit of money and it would be no problem to replace the potato with salad........ Finally, we had elderly guests 2 weeks ago, who one evening took a stroll to bardons. One of them is diabetic and asked if by any chance they had any sweetener. Suffice to say the response was such that they left without ordering anything. I will certainly not be back until this waitress begins to act with some sort of respect for her customers. Which is a pity, seeing as how the food is fab and the atmosphere is great too if you can avoid being served by this particular woman.

I ate here with a friend recently and was really pleased with the food, service and value for money. Bardons is a lovely pub near the river in Kilcullen, and while I've enjoyed having a drink there on several occasions, I had no idea they served such a range of food. They had a good, varied menu, and also two "deals", €14 for two courses, or €17 for three. Both my friend and I had chicken wings to start, then I had chicken curry and she had a steak sandwich on tomato focaccia bread. Because the prices were so reasonable, I was expecting small-ish portions (and would have been perfectly happy with that), however both starter and main courses were a good size. The chicken wings were delicious, served with celery sticks and a blue cheese dressing which was just gorgeous. The presentation was wonderful, better than a lot of restaurants I've been to. Main course was just as good, she said her steak was delicious, perfectly tender, and was served with chips in a paper cone sitting in a little metal bucket - nice touches like this make all the difference to presentation. My curry was perfect, served with basmati rice and a poppadum which had been rolled up before cooking so it looked lovely on the side. Our bill for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine, one becks non-alcoholic and one latte was €45. Excellent value. Staff are lovely, and the atmosphere is great. We ended up being there for 31 hours, we just didn't notice the time going as we were chatting, but we didn't feel a bit rushed by the staff. I highely recommend Bardons Pub. Food is served there from 4pm to 8.30pm Monday - Friday, not sure about weekends though.
