Went to the thatch bar and grill for the first time today, it will defiantly not be my last visit. Food was fantastic, staff were so friendly and welcoming and service was great. Would definitely recommend it to anyone... Well worth a visit

Just home from what can only be described as a disaster visit to The Thatch. We arrived around lunch time and it was quite busy. We were asked to wait at the bar for a table. After a few minutes we were seated and a waiter took our order shortly after. We ordered 3 pulled pork burgers which we were told took ten minutes to be heated after the 16 hours of roasting and marinating. We sat and waited for 45 minutes in which time nobody approached us to apologise for the wait. We then asked a waitress was it going to be a much longer wait and she said she would find out for us but never returned. It was obvious our order had been forgotten about. We then called the same girl over and she said they hadnt forgotten and that the food would be with us soon. We then waited for a further ten minutes or so and it was clear our food was not on the way. We had no choice but to get up and leave as we felt it was badly dealt with and that no burger was worth over an hour wait. Although I cannot comment on the food, I will never return to The Thatch again.

Arrived here on Patricks day with the family in tow. Had to seat ourselves as they were understaffed. Waiter came to take our order & we hadn't seen the menus! We ordered from the dinner menu which is extensive & very resonable. The food was great, Lasagne, steak & Fahita's all really tasty. Desserts were great too. The only thing that let them down on the day was the really bad service - not sure what happened as I had been there the week before & the staff we're great. Sitting in front of empty plates for over half an hour is NOT cool. We will be back but maybe not on a bank holiday. The food is worth it.

We went into The Thatch for something to eat and though we'd be seating in a restaurant. It turned out to be a kind of fast food cafe that has recently been renovated at the side of The Thatch. There wasn't many people here but the chip-shop type of food we got (curry fries, fish, burger etc.) were all very tasty, fresh and quickly served. The place seemed a bit strange as I was expecting something else but handy for a quick bite to eat!

A lovely pub, great for a drink, terrible for food. During the week there is a minimal menu (mainly soup and sambos) which would suit those who are happy with deli style food. The prices are ok but again, do not expect good quality food. There are no vegetarian options. The evening menu looks far more promising and with hefty prices for a country pub, one would be forgiven to have high hopes. Alas again the food dissapoints. I went here for an evening meal once with my family and we were all unimpressed. The food arrived at different times, some was cols, sides were forgotten, we requested again and they were again forgotten, my dad requested tea with his dinner and it was forgotten also. After numerous attempts to alert the waitress to this we finally gave up. To summarize: Nice place, appalling service, overpriced semi-acceptable food.

My husband and I went for a spin with the intention of visiting an old favourite of ours The Ardenode, in Ballymore Eustace. Unfortunately with the departure of the Browne family (the old owners) there was also a departure of the customer orientated menu or the personal touch and the comfortable seating which we were so to. We went in search of a new venue. We happened upon the Thatch and were delighted that food was available at 5 p.m. We had cod and chips with mushy peas which was very reasonable at 10 Euro. My daughters had Chicken Curry with chips and rice, my husband had Salmon, and our youngest had Chicken Nuggets and Mashed Potatoes. The children had dessert and we had coffee's. We were very impressed with the quality of the food the excellent service and the price. We will definitely be returning for Lunch soon.
