Great buzz about this place so I expected a good night but I was disappointed. Service was slow and abrupt - I had to ask for my drink four times and my meal was almost finished before it came. For mains, I had pasta in a cream sauce with chicken, bacon and mushrooms. A lot of food on the plate but no great flavour from it - even a load of black pepper didn't do much to help my meal. Food was pricy enough for what you got.

Firstly let me say the food is usually good in Basilico. I did get a very stodgy freshly made pasta dish which was was changed on request but it took a while to get their attention. I've been to Basilico many times and the main issue I have with this establishment is that Service is rushed and even though they are usually pleasant it does not come across as sincere. Further once your finished your main it is as if they want you out the door. Very rushed and is not conducive to a relaxed dining experience.

Myself, my mother and my son ate here about two weeks ago and found the service appalling. First of all, our cutlery was dirty so we had to ask for clean cutlery, we got no apology and were grunted at when we brought it to the attention of the waitress. Our food was nice, but they forgot part of our order and when we asked for it, we were waiting a further 10 minutes. We were then not asked during our meal if everything as OK. And then, being pregnant, I was dying to order another drink but no service was to be found, it seemed they had all either gone on lunch or saw no reason to come to our end of the restaurant. I have been put off going here again as I saw no reason for the lack of courtesy and service. They weren't out the door with customers when we visited. Disappointing visit all around.

My family and I went for dinner in the Basilico Restaurant in Oranmore recently and we enjoyed it thoroughly from start to finish. We started by having a relaxing drink in the bistro before the meal, they were very busy in the bar however I have to say the staff were right on top of things and took care of our needs being friendly and attentive as they served. The restaurant was alive with great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The table setting and music in the background was just beautiful, even our young children commented how nice everything was. Our meal was delicious, generous size portion, fabulous flavours and very well priced. The A la carte menu caters for all tastes offering a wide selection of dishes, top quality food at reasonable price. The best pizza ever!

Been here before and i always enjoy going back for their Evening Specials . We were firstly served with some beautiful homemade breads. For starters I chose a soup whilst my companion had pate. For mains I had a pasta dish with parma ham, black truffle and butternut squash cream whilst my companion chose pasta with pancetta. For desert I had a chocolate fondant my mate opting for a panna cotta. The atmosphere in this eatery was very nice indeed. Something I really loved was the fact that most of the waiters were Italians but still they could speak a very good English. Overall this restaurant offers excellent value for money for the high quality of food and service that it provides. I highly recommend Basilico and already a work colleague has tried it and loved it.

The restaruant was busy and we were seated on a busy walk way to the kitchen we did not mind as we were just out for a quick bite to eat that evening. The service was a little slow and the person who sevred our table a little preoccuiped so we were left waiting for things and had to ask twice for pepper and cheese. The food is to a good standared, however our starter of Aranchi was not quite hot in the middle, the menu is slightly on the pricey side for what you get.All in all a good evening if you just dont fancy cooking.

We were staying in Oranmore for a few days and decided to try out the pizzas one evening at Basilico. This is a proper looking Italian restaurant with linen tablecloths and comfortable chairs. It was about half full on a Monday night. The service was good and friendly. Everyone serving us were Italian. It is quite an extensive menu. We just had a starter of Grana Padano & Pere, a lovely combination. The pizzas were very good. We had ice-cream for dessert. I would certainly recommend Basilico.

Was there on Saturday June 12 with a party of 8. Very good menu with additional specials. What you would expect from a good Italian restaurant. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. We had a French waiter, who was witty, charming and very effecient. He really added to the enjoyment, particularly for the ladies. No sign of the recession in this restaurant. It was very busy all evening, so would strongly recomment that you make a reservation. Will definitely be back.

A typical Italian style restaurant which offers a good selection of food at fair prices. The food was tasty but more wholesome than memorable but still worth a try. The seafood pasta is good and the star of my meal.

Basilico has been a favourite of mine for ages and I love having a great local Italian restaurant. Unfortunately I was very disappointed on my recent visit and reluctantly need to update my review. I originally gave this place a 4.5. Both the service and the food weren’t great. I’ve heard Basilico has opened up in Clarinbridge, so all I can think is that maybe they’ve moved some of their experienced waiters and kitchen staff over there to get it up & running, to the detriment of the Oranmore location? The quirky waiters have mostly been replaced by run-of-the-mill waiters & waitresses. The service was rushed and impersonal at times. They were very busy, but that’s no excuse. Our pre starter arrived out with our starter, and was disappointing. It was just 3 small slivers of cheese and pear. Very unimpressive. Unfortunately my starter arrived out cold. When I mentioned it, I was asked if I wanted another one. Of course I want another one…… No real apologies for it either. To make matters worse, when the (delicious) hot version arrived out, it was half the size of the original. Moving onto the mains. My boyfriend found his to be quite bland. And I have to say, mine was also. I got the prawns in a basil cream sauce. It wasn’t very inspiring at all, and to make matters worse, there were clumps of pasta stuck together in it. We were both gutted it had gone so badly, especially as we were there as a present for my birthday. We usually love the place! We Irish are not ones to complain, but thankfully the waitress asked us at the end of the meal (but not before….) if we’d enjoyed it. We were truthful and were surprised to be told that the main meals would be free. This was a lovely gesture, but unfortunately, I still won’t be rushing back.

I would recommend to eat in the restaurant and not in the bar. The service in the bar is not that great and you have to wait quite some time for your drinks and food if it is busy. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really nice. If you like Pizza you will definitely love it here. They just taste like in Italy. But even if you prefer something else the menu has a good variety of Chicken, Seafood and Meats. We had the cold Italian meats and cheese platter for starters and we absolutely loved it. I tried the chicken calzone and my husband had chicken in Cajun cream sauce and we both were quite happy with it. All in all a really nice place with lovely food.

Worst meal EVER. The food was ok (when thety decided to bother seving it) but the staff were so rude it was breath taking. I will never go back to be treated with such contempt. Better value and service across the road.
