Veered off the main road home to have a late lunch here as we had heard so much about it. The location is wonderful and on a clear sunny day it was a dream come true. We walked about for a while to build up an appetite and then partook of some smoked salmon and brown bread with a lemon twist. The ambiance of the place grabbed us from the moment we set foot inside the door. A little expensive but it is a tourist attraction so it was worth the bit extra for the experience, We lingered and truly enjoyed it all.

I was here one afternoon last week. Such a nice place to chill out at on a sunny day, with a seafood platter, some oysters, guinness, chocolate torte and a cup of tea... It took a while for the food to come out of the kitchen, since we were the only ones dining there, but it was well worth the wait. :) Friendly staff Recommended

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Galway and it was lovely. I remember calling here before and been unable to get a seat but while it was busy enough to create an atmosphere it was not over crowded. The service was efficient and the food was really delicious. it was worth the detour off the motorway to enjoy a nice lunch.

Ate here on Jan 26th. Food wonderful. Not cheap but worth it. We had chowder and salmon salad and then the salmon main. Great service, non-intruisive. Main thing we liked here is the atmosphere, so relaxed. Open fires really add to the place. The pavalova was unreal, huge portion! Was 67 euro but worth it. We'll be back!

Had always wanted to dine here but always believed it to be further off the main road. Perfect break on the journey. I had half doz oysters followed by tempura prawns for main while my friend had chowder followed by baked salmon. Both of us very happy, though batter on the prawns could have been lighter. Would revisit at first opportunity.

The perfect day for Moran's - sun shining, sitting outside while the thatchers worked on the roof. Idyllic! The food was fab - lots of fresh crab and prawns. Dishes aren't cheap but they certainly don't scrimp on the expensive ingredients. We had a lovely afternoon and will definitely be back for more.

The drive to and the location of this restaurant are fantastic, I can see why the tourist flock here. However, my first time thre recently was a shock to the system! Firstly, it is a pub serving restaurant grade food which I always find is hard to pull off. The food wasn't bad but lets be real, I went there for Sunday lunch and the only affordable items on the menu are the chowder and soup . It was vastly overpriced and compared to the great pub grub joints in the area, the value for money is non existant. As far as service goes, we sat for quite some time If you would like to bring your foreign visitors somewhere traditional, I would seek out one of the many pubs in Kilcolgan serving good food at a reasonalbe price rather than spend €20 on a salmon darne in a pub that is now just living off its name rather than moving with the times and offering good value, good food.

My wife and I were greeted by a smiling face who looked relieved to see some customers! Despite saying this the place seemed to get a steady flow of people after we order. One thing that surprised me as I looked through the menu was the price increase since the last time I had been there-and it was only about 8 months! I was very content with my food and adored the brown bread. Food was out quickly and I felt we were both met with a smile when in contact with staff. One problem I had was the amount of salad on my plate nearly over shadowed my fish-small plates made the meal look small. Will hopefully be re-visiting soon.

One of my favoutite pubs in the west of Ireland, a must-visit location for anyone travelling through! Visted last week with a group of friends where we enjoyed a fantastic meal with excellent service. Morans are famous for their oysters and Guiness but make sure to try the chowder, crab claws, prawns...or in fact anything else on the menu! There is a lovely atmosphere with big turf fires and lots of cosy rooms and snugs. I will definately be back again soon

Been a while since I visited this place but I was astounded at my last visit to see how poor the service was...Virtually no choice of fish salmon or mussles if i remember correctly that was all...service was dire..I have recieved better service in the "eat and get out" diners in Galway..I cannot believe that this place harp on about their unique setting an atosphere they have a long way to go..waiter virtually tossed bread-basket onto table..It was so surreal that my partner watched intently as to how other diners were treated..food was very ordinary..we didn't even stay for dessert which is saying something for me...

Vastly Over-rated. I have been to Morans many, many times over the years and it always fails to impress me. I really do think that Moran's are now trading on their old reputation. Yes, the seafood is fresh, but that's it. There's a very poor selection which is very over priced. Portions are small. There's no flair or artistic ability, the most "culinary skill" would appear to be placing a wedge of lemon on your plate. Other than that they are just serving cold seafood on a plate with some lettuce. For a seafood restaurant their chowder is also one of the worst I have had - it appears always be their regular vegetable soup with a few bits of smoked haddock thrown in for good measure. The ambiance is also lacking what with the hard chairs, and icy cold temperatures.
