One of the best restaurants we have ever been in. Really friendly and welcoming service coupled with generous portions. Nice little touch of having mini blackboards with the day's specials that can be propped up on the table beside you to have a read. Crab Cakes and fish starter special followed by the Haddock and Monkfish. Clean plates all around. Will definitely be back when next we visit Galway. Very reasonably priced as well. 5 stars Oscars !

Was looking forward to a delicious meal having read reviews and was certainly not disappointed (except for the cold rhubarb Creme Brulee!). The casual/eclectic/lively atmosphere almost belied the sophisticated and elegant food. The 'specials' menu was vast and could have chosen any one of the 7 or 8 on offer and was not disappointed with my choice of Monkfish and Chorizo. Mussels starter would have almost been sufficient for mains. Service knowledgeable and unobtrusive. Good wine selection, great coffee. Highly recommended and a definite to return.

I simply can't fault it..... I visited here with two visitors who had been travelling all over Ireland for 10 days previously, they are both very partial to their Seafood and this was their favourite restaurant by far. Our server was so nice, well informed and very attentive. The servings were generous but not too much. The drinks menu was fantastic, and I was delighted to see such a great selection of craft beers available. And the food....well all I can say is you have to try it to believe how fabulous the food is. Now words can successfully describe.

Third time at Oscar's - we've been once a year since 2011 - and have yet to be truly disappointed, although the service slowed as the evening went on (we had a show to get to, so time was of the essence) and the wilted greens with my Sweaty Betty and crushed pea risotto were a bit chewy, planty and overpowering (I left most to the side). But the mussels my SO had were top notch; my seafood croquette starter was as good as always; and the hazelnut parfait dessert was delicious (shame we had to wolf ours down). Overall, the pros far outweigh the relatively minor cons. And we'll be dining here again, for sure.

Ate here as one of table of 2 on a very quiet Monday night. Only diners for early bird special. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Early bird limited choice but good options - I had spring rolls which were very tasty and fresh, Steak for main. Great quality steak, succulent, pepper sauce was perfect and served with chunky chips. For €15 - superb value. Very quiet but no fault of restaurant. I have eaten previously on a Saturday and much livelier. Would recommend

All I can say is never judge a book by its cover!! From the outside Ocsars does not look by much but when you go in you are greeted with a warm welcome and the most amazing smells. The staff is so friendly, helpful and polite. They have an extensive wine list(try the Cantena Argentinian Malbec) And the food WOW all we were short of doing was eating the plates!! Again so much choice, so delicious I would recommend this place to any seafood lovers. It is a little expensive but oh is it worth every single penny. When ever I am back in Galway I will return to Oscars for the overall experience of the food, wine and staff it really was lovely.

My husband and I came here after reading the reviews. We have yet to have a bad dining experience in Galway, but thus far Oscars is the best! The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was phenomenal! After reading the reviews I ordered off of the blackboard specials and didn't even look at the every day menu. I definitely made the right choice. The scallops were perfect, I've never tasted anything like it in my life. We also had dessert and I highly recommend the creme brûlée. Just thinking about it all makes me hungry! The decor was a little off to me, it didn't really make much sense, but the food is soo divine that after a bite or two i didn't even notice anymore. Definitely go here if you're looking for a good place to eat!

Delicious seafood! I went here last week with a couple of friends and was very impressed. The menu all looked delicious and they had a huge selection of specials which made the decision that much harder! We had the starter selection to share. There were pickled mussels in this selection which weren't so nice but the rest of the selection was all delicious especially the croquette and the oysters. I chose the monkfish which was cooked to perfection. It came out surrounding a cake of mashed roast potatoes with chorizo and there were loads of different, very tasty vegetables on the huge plate. The others had hake with cheesy polenta cakes and gurnard with champ which were also served with a yummy veg selection. We couldn't stop there (even though we probably should have) so we had deserts also. I had the creme brulee which was served with rhubarb and was very well presented and really delicious. The others got chocolate pudding and ice cream which were both yummy. The only negative I would say is the decor. They could do with changing the furniture as it isn't the most practical. There are big ugly couches (possibly trying to be moulin rouge style) that block the view out the window from the window seat. Their chairs are also quite big and the place we had at the window was quite squashed so I had to do some strange maneuvers to get in and out of my chair! Other than that I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for really good quality seafood and yummy desserts too

Don't be put off by the colourful exterior to the restaurant - which looks like a casino of sorts!! This is one of the nicest seafood restaurants I have eaten in quite some time. I was visiting Galway from Dublin for new years with friends and we had fabulous meal. I had the prawns to start which were amazing while my boyfriend had oysters! The food is great. There are plenty of options for non-fish or seafood lovers here too. Great wine menu also ...although not a huge selection of wines by the glass. The best part of our dining experience in Oscar's was the friendly and attentive service. Oscar's is real value for money and I will definitely be going back on my next visit to Galway !

Have eaten here on a few occasions and it never lets you down. Some of the nicest food I've had in Galway. Particularly enjoyed the seafood. Staff are extremely friendly and are on the ball and the restaurant is a lot nicer than it looks from the outside! It costs a little more than other places but the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Whenever I have visitors to Galway Oscar's is one of the first places I consider bringing them

The best Seafood restaurant in Galway if you ask me. The real menu at Oscars is the one on the black board which has the days catch and what a seafood selection. King & Queen scallops with razer fish, Local mussels (a huge portion) for only €14.50 which were the best I ever had not to mention the fish we never heard of but all landed at Galways ports. There was around 7 specials on the day we dined. Great selection of wines and the service was simply great. A really really great seafood restaurant
