Good Food Ireland is an industry driven food tourism organisation which was established in November 2006. Many good food operators in a cross-section of establishments all around the island from restaurants to accommodation, pubs to food shops to cookery schools wanted to be recognised and endorsed for their commitment to using Irish, local and artisan food produce. They wanted to share experiences and be cooperatively marketed to the domestic and international tourist. Agriculture and Tourism, two vital economies for Ireland have so much in common and are yet so far apart. Through Good Food Ireland the industry from both these sectors share a common belief and come together as one. Good Food Ireland brings you the visitor or domestic consumer what we believe is the only way to get a true taste of Ireland. We were touring Ireland in two Caterhams, and this is where we had the best lunch of the trip, so went back for dinner which was fantastic.

It was my second time to eat here. I met friends at lunch time but because we had all eaten substantial breakfasts we opted for coffee and cakes. Two of us chose the coffee cake, one a raspberry tart type cake. The raspberry was lovely but the coffee cake was possibly the worst I've tasted - dry and unfortunately no taste of coffee (based on 2 opinions). When I said this to the staff I was told that's 'a matter of taste'...I would expect coffee cake to taste of coffee...

I ate here with my partner last Saturday night. This is a quirky little restaurant in Galway with a great atmosphere and fantastic quality food. Unfortunately, they only do two sittings on a Saturday so we had to eat a bit late as we took the 9pm sitting. We were a bit peeved at this but really, the restaurant is well worth the inconvenience of late eating. We skipped starters due to the hour, I had the turbot with burnt cauliflower and hazelnut. It was absolutely divine. Cooked to perfection and with a lovely sweetness. There was some kind of sauce too which for me, made the dish a touch too rich, but there was v little of it and overall, i was delighted with it. My husband had the hogget and said it was excellent. I then had the rhubarb pavlova and my husband had a mousse sponge pudding. Both delicious. We also had a lovely bottle of Portuguese wine which the waiter kindly helped me choose. Lovely lovely night, we'll definitely go back. I only took off a star because of the restrictions around when you can book on a Saturday night. Would highly recommend.

The atmosphere was lovely, food was great. Could serve a bit more veg with the steak. Starters were fab. Dined with 3 others and they were really impressed especially with the Crab claws and Monkfish mains.

The most DELICIOUS place to eat. I crave Kai! Their food is always fresh, local and scrumptious. Breakfast or dinner, you have to visit! Their cakes and desserts are amazing if you can fit them in. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and always really helpful when you ask them for gluten free options. I think this is my favourite restaurant in Ireland!

This place is always busy due to simple fact that they do everything well. Need to book in advance for any night of the week but you will not be disappointed. Even basic things like jugs of table water are flavoured !

Have had lunch here a few times, always great! Being vegetarian its not always easy yo find a good place to eat in town and the kai has become my favorite. The menu changes every day as they cook with whats seasonal and available. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is really relaxed. As well as their savory options they always have a range of delicious desserts and sweet snacks. All round just a fantastic place.

Ate here last night for the first time and highly recommend it. I had a goat’s curd starter and a wild halibut main with lentils, and both were fab. Everyone with me enjoyed their meals, with 1 person saying the chicken liver pate, which came as part of a charcuterie starter plate, was the best he’d ever tasted. It. The crushed potatoes they serve with some of the meals are also to die for. The menu is small – 5 options for each course, as well as cheese options. I also loved the décor and atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

A party of 14 of us dined here on a Saturday night. The setting was lovely, we had our own section upstairs which was great and the waitress gave us an Ipod to choose the songs for the evening. An excellent touch! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to deciphering the menu. We were a group who are accustomed to dinning out but we all felt that the menu wording was abit much. The food was good but I felt some of the dishes needed a bit of umph. I had crab to start which was nice but I would not order it again. However I tasted the meat starter and it was delicious. For mains I had a fillet of fish and it was really good, I would definitely order it again. My boyfriend had the monkfish and both himself and I felt it was lacking something. The wine list was good and overall it was a great evening. A credit to the staff, they really are accommodating and with the right choices of dishes you could not fault the place.
