Having booked a trip to Galway, myself and my boyfriend looked through restaurants nearby our hotel, both agreeing that Cactus Jack's should be the first choice. We weren't disappointed.nFor starters, he had what he described as "the perfect chicken wings" (the spicy option). This is very high praise as he's very hard to please when it comes to wings! I went for the fried rice balls. They were both delicious. nFor mains we both had the burrito, once again fantastic! A perfect mix of spicy yet loads of of flavour! For dessert, he had the chocolate brownie (very light and fluffy) and I went with the tequila and lime cheesecake....I had to know! It was the best cheesecake I've had in a long time, definitely in my top 5! Price wise, we thought it was very good, we each had 3 courses and two drinks each, amounting to €70. nThe one slight downside was the waitress wasn't particularly personable, or very knowledgeable about the ales, which my boyfriend was asking about. But that's the only thing I'd have to complain about and I wouldn't even say it's a complaint. I'd highly recommend going there!n

We went to this restaurant following a recommendation from a friend, and the fact that I also like Mexican food and my partner likes Tapas. Unfortunately, the whole experience was disappointing from start to finish. We arrived at 6:45pm in time for both early bird options and a la carte. The restaurant was pretty quiet although it was a Sunday. We were presented with both menus and decided to go with the a la carte on the basis that the early bird was very limited and un-inspiring. We both decided having scanned the menu that we would go for the tapas option. Within 2 minutes of being handed the menu, we were asked what we would like to order by a rather aggressive waitress. We went for 3 tapas each and a side of bread (which we expected to be delivered to the table while we waited for the dishes). My partner ordered the gambas (prawns), which we were told were out of stock :( Within 3 minutes of ordering dishes, the entire 6 tapas dishes and the bread arrived at the table. First impressions were not good. The bread was a selection of random stale breads, including one piece of sliced pan put in the microwave and sprinkled with parsley... no butter and the kind of thing you expect your 5 year old to present you with. The patatas bravas were shop purchased along with the sauce in a small ramakin on the side as was the brie. The ribs were average and smothered in bbq sauce. The only dish that was very good and somewhat authentic was the chili. Throughout our 40 minute restaurant experience - we were not approached once by staff to check that everything was ok - which it wasn't. We asked for the bill, choosing not to go for one of the deserts and just cut our losses. The bill arrived for which we were overcharged over €5 on the bottle of house wine we ordered. We queried this and were told that prices from the website are different for Dublin and Galway, again - this seemed like a chore for the staff to go and correct their mistake. In summary a poor experience..

Very disappointed with the food which was very bland, greasy and no where close to Mexican. Also to receive a call one hour before your booking telling you that you have an hour to eat your meal is unacceptable. I won't be recommending or returning to this restaurant.

For starters I got: the nachos with guacamole - Very bland. Should have given sourcream / salsa with it. I asked for sourcream for it & I got charged extra! For the main I got: Beef burrito with rice - It was really tasty, but no vegetables in the burrito even though I was told there would be. For Dessert I got: the profiteroles - 4 tiny miserable profiteroles with a teaspoon of cream. I'm not a fussy person, but if your paying a nice price you should get a nice size portion.

A group of 6 of us came here for dinner on a Sunday evening, and were delighted to avail of the all-day-Sunday Early Bird menu. It includes 3 courses and a glass of wine or soft drink. I had the Guacamole for starter and it was delicious, with a generous portion of tortilla chips, while my friends had either the Soup, Caesar Salad, Prawns and Soup. Everyone polished off their plates! For the main, 3 of us had the Steak @ €4 supplement. It was cooked to perfection and was again a very generous size. My partner had the Special of the day, the Chicken Enchillada, while the others had the Burger and the Fish Bites. We were all completely satisfied with our choices and the Early Bird offers great variety with something to suit everyone. Also, I recommend the Tequila and Lime Cheesecake...delicious! The restaurant was quiet, however it was a Sunday night, but I have been here on numerous occasions over the past few years and it never disappoints! I recommend this restaurant to everyone as I think it appeals to a large demographic, not only those who like Mexican food!

Good honest food for great value on the early bird offer: 3 courses for 19.95 plus wine. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Fajitas are a must if visiting. Enough to feed an army. Desert was standard. My only complaint was that there was no decent coffee available after as in cappuccino's or latte's etc. Overall a cheap and cheerful experience!

Went here with 4 friends, it was about 9.30 when we got there, we hadn't booked but they were able to seat us after only a few mins wait. It was really busy with a couple of large groups and lots of couple and smaller groups. We each had a starter and main and a bottle of beer. I had the cheese and bacon potato bites to start and the chilli beef nachos (as a main) and it was really lovely, nice and spicy and good sized portions. The only downside was that it was quite warm, even though we were sitting by an open window. The staff were really friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back!

On a miserably wet evening in Galway we decided to avail of the early bird menu at 19.95 for 3 courses plus a drink, there were 4 of us and we were first in. First of all have to say that the booths which we were directed to were obviously designed for supermodels as we found them very small and uncomfortable. starters arrived and were ok, 4 chicken wings com was a bit on the measly side, caesar salad didn't taste as usual was ok and guacamole was good. Mains of enchilladas and fajitas were good, decent sized and tasted good so went down well, I went for the fish bites which comprised of 2 small pieces of battered fish and the batter had a bit of a weird taste. By the amount of bones in the fish at least it was probably fish. Chicken strips were dry and over cooked. Desserts were average. Service was excellent in so far as the waiter/waitresses were attentive, friendly etc. We were hungry so we did eat most of it but would I go back - No.
