Good busy pub, good locals. Same bar staff for years so they view themselves highly. The offer opinions when in reality they should just serve beer.

Love this place! The best burgers and chicken goujons I have ever tried. Portions are so big that I am never able to eat it all. I love to dine there. Service is so nice, that makes you feel like home. The most important thing is that everything is fresh. You can get great food for a good value.

Sunday carvery was the order of the day when we paid a visit to one of our local pubs, the Carpenter. First thing I noticed was the fairly small plates which were filled to capacity with tasty food. I choose the beef and by the time he put a large portion plus a mountain of stuffing it was quite full. The waitress proceeded to pile spuds and veg on and the result was massive. All I can say is that I did justice to it as it was delicious. The beef was very tender and the chicken my husband had was equally nice.Very good value at only over 10 euro each, almost cheaper than cooking it myself. Overall a friendly, clean pub with a mixture of families and young people all enjoying a quiet drink and a bite to eat.

This is the perfect spot for a nice Sunday carvery. Food is great, big portions and very fresh. There is a lovely atmosphere in the pub and for the smokers there is a big heated smoke area.

Went here for carvery on Sun afternoon with my bf. It had been a long time since I had eaten here and unfortunately I won't be running back. My bf had the turkey and ham dinner, the meat was good enough but the veg was totally tasteless and the stuffing was dry. The choice of veg was also very boring. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a hot beef sandwich on brown bread with stuffing. Firstly they were obviously running out of bread as one of my slcies was the heal of the bread with some of it cut off. The meat in the sandwich was very fatty and the stuffing so dry that I had to drown it in mayonnaise. however, I found the whole thing just inedible and very dissapointing. Perhaps I made a bad choice on my lunch option but I can't say I'll be rushing back for food. I use their off-licence frequently to buy wine and I always find the staff there extremely friendly and helpful.

This pub is in great spot for many people who only have to walk and leave the car at home. The atmosphere here is really good and the barmen are excellent-they make every customer feel important. The food does not live up to the same quality. Most dishes from chicken to beef or lasagne feel like they are half cooked and heated up when ordered. The menu is in need of a major change or thay will lose food business at night. day time food is really good. I live near this establishment for years and if the night menu was better, more people will eat here.

Great place for a drink before or after dinner. Lovely pub indeed, quiet and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the food. The Guinnes stew was not too bad, but there's no way that the beef burger was actually beef. It was either turkey or chicken. And it was served too quickly to be fresh. Will come back for sure but not to eat.

This place has your bog standard pub food, over cooked mushy vegetables and overcooked dry meat. Not great but ok if you want to watch the football have a pint and get fed. Their sandwiches are a bit better, you get crisps and it is probably the best pub in Castleknock. (although the best of a bad lot) Pity they don't jazz up the menu as I live opposite and would eat there alot if the food was in any inspiring but frankly why pay for food you can cook 10 times better at home. The off license in there is great, really great helpful friendly staff. We were on Sunday last and I assume becuase of the downturn in custmers the carvery was closed and the place was practically empty instead they had a pub food menu of the usual burgers, scampi and chips etc at ridiculous prices. when all the restaurants in Castleknock have dropped their prices considerably to get the crowds in whilst still serving great food, the Carpenter has done the opposite, exorbrant prices for greasy bog standard pub fare!

The Carvery is always good here. Great atmosphere and a lovely pub. Service is not really applicable , there is lots of water which is self service. Great value for hearty good old fashioned carvery.

I was charged €10 just for a plate of chips! It's a rip-off. This pub has a nice enough atmosphere, but it's too pricey and the staff can be quite rude. When I queried the €10, I was rebuffed in a rude manner by two members of staff.
