Fantastic Indian restaurant in the heart of le Bar. Shan does a roaring trade with both late night revellers and early birds constantly milling through it's doors.

best central Indian ever! Always hit this place at 3am after a night out. The staff are incredible and the buzz is fantastic. The wine flows and everyone is having great craic. The food is always great (though at that hour I'm probably partial to anything). The bill is never too large and you can easily sit and chat for ages. A great finish to every night out.

This place was very quiet for a Saturday night @ 8pm but maybe it's one of those hidden gems no one knows about...loved it! We shared a chicken tikka starter and I had prawn bhuna for mains...I get this alot in Indians, and I have to say it was one of the nicest ones I've ever had, with a very generous helping of prawns! Partner had the mixed curry which was also really tasty...and the house wine we shared was also lovely! Service was prompt, and efficient - we will definitely be back!

Great Indian restaurant with great food late at night. Very good when you've got the munchies after a good night out. Had the Lamb Vindaloo with a Garlic Naan washed down with a Cobra. Great spiciness to the Vindaloo. One of the best Garlic Naans I've had in Dublin. I'll be back again and begin the evening with a meal at Shan before heading out for a pint or three in Temple Bar.

I am not a major Indian food lover but suddenly had a craving! So went into temple bar as I knew of some Indian restaurants located there. First one we spotted was Shan, now from the outside you wouldn’t be able to tell, but the inside is quite massive with nice authentic decorations (could have done without the tv’s on the wall showing retro bollywood music). Started with a complimentary basket of poppadums and really tasty dips. Then shared a mixed meat platter with my friend. A bit plain and dry. Just pieces of chicken and lamb. For maincourse I had chicken sag and my friend had the Saag Aloo, two portions of Pilau rice and cheese nan. In one word : YUM!!! For desert I had an icecream (they only do those pre-made ocecreams unfortunately) We had two beers also and bill came to 60 euro. Not bad! Not sure if I will be back though, service wasn’t the friendliest of one of the waiters. Had to wait about 30 minutes on the desert menu. Also he never even thanked us or said goodbye, just grabbed the money of the table and ran off.

Very reasonably priced Indian food. Excellent and quick service, although the waiters look like they are very bored!! Good size helpings. Have visited them a couple times when we were around Temple Bar and really enjoy the food.

I came here on St Stephens night after all the pubs had closed for some late night soakage - the place was empty but so was most of town!! The service was prompt (as it could only have been as we were the only diners!) and very friendly. We didn't bother with starters and got straight to the mains. While these were being worked on in the kitchen, they brought us out some poppadoms and dips, which were delicious. If these were anything to go by the mains should be fantastic.....and they were! I had the Lamb Chilli Massala and it was beautiful. Great kick to it without burning the mouth of you. I did try some of my mates Chicken Jalfrezi also which was also lovely. I must particularly compliment the Naan Bread, I had the garlic one and I could have eaten a whole loaf of it. Will definitely be going back here when fully sober to make sure that it was not just a once off miracle through beer goggles!!

Enjoyed a delicious meal in this restaurant last night. Service was prompt and non-intrusive, and tap water in a jug was supplied without any problem (it can be a problem in some restaurants who would prefer diners to buy overpriced bottled water). Overall a good experience and perhaps this restaurant would consider bringing hot plates to the table for diners to put their hot meal on! Putting a hot meal on a very cold plate doesn't work. Apart from that everything else was fine.

Visited this restaurant very early in the evening and can't give an honest appraisal of the atmosphere as a result. We were seated promptly and our order taken. The meal was very good - probably one of the better Indian meals I've had in a while in Dublin. It would be helpful if warming trays were brought to the table though, as the portions were quite large, so inclined to go cold before we got to the end of the meal. Have to comment on one unusual aspect to the evening - before any of our food was brought to the table, a waiter proceeded to spray air freshener all over the place! Granted, he aimed the aerosol down towards the floor, but it gives a bad impression for starters - one would assume they were trying to cover an unpleasant odour, and we couldn't detect anything unpleasant in there. It's also a very unhygienic thing to do in a food establishment - it would not have been pleasant to experience someone spraying an aerosol whilst we were dining.

Credit where credits due this is a very decent indian curry house. Great food and good service with a smile. All fresh. Starters: sheek kebab - excellent! Main meal - Jalfrezie - Very good, Nan bread - top dollar! Glad to see its open longer than 12 o clock though as i cant eat early as then i am just fit for my bed. Better to have beer first, then curry! Well done lads i will be returning. Note for the webmaster on menu pages - where is Roscommon & Longford on your choose county menu bar??

I'm amazed that the profile of this restaurant calls it fantastic - it was nothing of the sort when we visited on Saturday night at 7pm. Despite the board outside saying there was an early bird available, the waiter told us it was not available at the weekend - or the €10 special in the window. When we queried this we were allowed to order from the early bird - but only because we asked. Meanwhile, another waiter was having a heated agrument in the otherwise empty restaurant with the only other customer. The wine we ordered (from the ordinary menu) wasn't available, but we not not informed of this until the waiter came back with an alternative which he presented as the one we had ordered (and this was one which wasn't even on the wine list). The food was OK - definitely nothing to write home about and we got the distinct impression that our starters had been "heated up". Our meal for 2 came to €50 including the wine but this is not a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone except for its proximity to Temple Bar.

Had the chicken biriyana which was very nice but came with a pretty dreadful almost chinese style curry sauce. Pretty expensive for what it is imo. Paying a large premium for eating so late I guess

We were looking for something reasonably priced and found this place --- it does not look much from outside but we were really impressed...food was very nice and good value for money. Not much of an atmosphere in the place --- but you cant have it all. Thumbs up on food and price.

I didn't eat here, but I did order their food for takeaway. The actual food was quite good. Friends and I tried different vegetarian and chicken dishes. The food was a bit pricey though, compared to other Indian restaurants in city centre. The chicken korma was average and the naan bread was pretty greasy. Yet, they did give us free pompadoms and sauce, which was great.
