Yes, so most of my reviews are pretty generous, but not without good reason. The Cafe Bar at the IFI is a little gem. The only problem I've had here is not being able to decide what I want/ food envy! They have a really good selection of veggie options too and their chunky chips (sooo good) haven't changed since I've been going there (12 years). I recommend the Buffalo Wings if you're just peckish and the burger, with everything, if you're about to collapse from hunger (guacamole and bacon - what a combo). Gotta try the Salmon Pasta next! Great atmosphere here too. Lovely place to catch up with friends and nicely casual too. Keep an eye out for their movie & dinner specials.

Worst service in Dublin. I've been to the IFI cafe on a few occasions. My experience each time has been the same, the waiters simply ignore you unless you actually go to the counter or call their attention. Even then you are still waiting 10 to 20 minutes before you order is taken. Again same problem when I wanted to order a coffee and not to mention waiting for the bill. On my first visit I thought they were just busy and this was a one off but I've been back there a number of times since and received the same treatment even when the restaurant was quiet. On my last visit I just got fed up waiting and left. I won't be returning. This is such a pity as I like the cafe and it's location is convenient for me. Also the food is reasonably priced.

Visited the IFI at 8pm on a Thursday eve and the atmosphere was fantastic. Buzzing, and yet relaxed. Lovely decor and nice to have so many candles too. My friend had a Bailey's coffee and I had a herbal tea. Great selection of quality herbal teas which is always appreciated. I'd like to go back again to try the food as it looked great. Good experience all round.

I came here with two friends as I had raved about it for months. I used to come here about once a week, if not two, for the platter my favourite! We always came before gigs, cinema etc. After living away from Ireland for two years, I decided to make a trip back around Christmas time and dragged along two friends as I had talked about how great the place was the whole time I was away in Australia. I was so disappointed with the place on return. Service was so bad, we had to wait well over ten minutes for our waitress to arrive, I had to ask twice for my glass of water, our platters arrived with no scampi,we had not been told about this until we had to stop one of the staff running past our table who rudely told us there was none available. and our bill took ages to arrive. The place did not seem relaxed as staff were literally running up and down the stairs looking stressed. Did not enjoy my trip back to the IFI and I haven't been back since, which is a shame as it was a favourite of mine in 2009.

Went here with my girlfriend before seeing a film. Was very busy but managed to get a table for 2 in the corner. Good atmosphere. Menu has something for everybody and good value for money. For where it is and the clientele they could charge more. I had the Thai prawns and noodle salad. Big, fresh and tasty. My girlfriend had the falafel balls in pita. Had a taste and was nice. She enjoyed it. The also have a selection of wines and beer. Only minor thing was that we waited for a bill for a bit but everyone was leaving at the same time so not the staff's fault. Nice way to watch a movie. Will be back.

Popped in here with 2 friends Tuesday evening. Place was fairly busy. We got seated at a 2 person table so was a tight squeeze for the 3 of us. Bit of a wait to order. It was busy and looked understaffed. I ordered the platter, as did my friend as she was raving about how much she loved the scampi. When our food arrived there was no scampi on the plate. After waiting 10 minutes trying to catch the attention of the wait staff whizzing by, we finally caught one and told him. He didn't even stop to talk to us, and just said "yeah we don't have any scampi tonight" and walked off. Very rude and not even slightly apologetic. We were all quite annoyed that when the waitress took our order she never bothered telling us. The staff didn't really seem to care. Apart from that, the food was ok. Nothing special but decent enough for the price. Not sure if I'd bother going back - maybe only if it was quiet.

Such a great venue. Very atmospheric spot adding to an evening out at the cinema. However I have to admit very disappointed with the food. The service was friendly but we felt very rushed. The food was really only ok. Edible. Just. We went for the special, which I thought was reasonably priced at 10 Euro until I got my food. The breaded chicken clearly came from a packet and was shoved in the oven. Fresh veg & potatoes were fine, but really was just a mundane dinner I cook for myself at home! Love visiting the IFI but will not be returning to the restaurant.

I often eat here before/after seeing a movie in the theatre. Its very quick and the food is relatively good. The burger (avacado and bacon) is excellent (for a non-burger joint) and the chips are very well cooked. Once you get a seat the staff are pleasant and efficient, always making sure to get you to your movie on time. As a memebr of the IFI I also get 10% off the food, which makes it even more reasonable. It isn't fine dining, but a great low key option in the city centre with a nice atmosphere and solid tasty food.

had the soup and panini, good value and tasty. I've had burgers and stuff here before and they were also great. Nothing exciting on the menu just the basics: burgers, sambos, nachos...etc. But done well.

Service here is grand, the staff are nice and friendly and do well dealing with such a busy place. The food here is really good value, I always make a bee-line for it if I ever am eating in the Temple Bar region. The menu is largely unchanged in the last few years. Lots of nice finger foods and sides and stuff if you want to share. The burgers are always popular. I had the falafal on this day and it was gorgeous. A big portion, I was as full as a tic afterwards. Around eating times it can be very full and a little annoying with people pushing past you in the narrow walkways between tables. But this busyness is testament to the quality of the place. It is also a good place to go and have a sit down with coffee and cake. Good value, definitely.

We visit the IFI quite a lot but had never eaten there..just coffee. So before going to a movie last week decided to try it. I was waiting for my partner, so had a glass of one of the house wines...terrible! We shared nachos to start, they were fine but you knew that they were just thrown together. Then for main the burgers were ok...for the price grand, and the chips with them were really yummy. I ordered a second glass of wine and went for a different white....equally as bad! I think there is better value to be had in that kind of food around the city. It has a great atmosphere, so it is a shame about the food and wine. I think I will stick to going there for a cuppa before the cinema!

Really enjoy going here, A new menu since i was last there which looks great, I had the cajun chicken which was really nice. It can sometimes be very busy sometimes and i have had to ask to share tables with others. But in all, it a good place for reasonably priced lunch.

So the cafe bar has had a revamp according to its advertising. Well definitely an improvement in standard of food, which was much needed!. Fish really fresh and batter light and crispy, chips use real potatoes and taste really delicious. Thats what my buddy had so I had a taste! I had vegetarian lasagne which was nice but more vegtables would be better. Little stodgy because mainly pasta sheets and sauce in dish. Wine by the glass:I love that you can order a large glass if you feel like it. Badet & Clement Cuvée Prestige Blanc described as Crisp dry blended wine. Lemony fruits with a clean and zesty finish, but unfortunately it tasted flat. I should have sent it back. It really annoys me that they close off the upstairs area. What is the point in having an upstairs!! I like it as it's much brighter and roomier and arier up there, particularly in Summer, but I guess the waiting staff don't feel the need to run up and down the stairs for their customers. On a previous visit a couple of weeks ago, quite a rude manageress informed me it's only open for 'overflow' if they're very busy. Her unfriendly manner would make you wonder if their revamp was a waste of their resources. The rest of the staff were absolutely lovely. Considering it was so busy last night, service was really good. Great place to people watch, as such an ecclectic mix of customers.
