The Halfway House has been on the go as long as I can remember but I had never been there until Friday last. A social gathering of 20 people, not an easy number to attend to but the staff were super efficient, friendly and attentive. In fact one member of the waiting staff informed us that he "got a great buzz" when the place was busy. He attended to us with smiles and patience. The place was quite busy and I noticed that nearly everyone was eating delicious plates of very nice looking food . As we were a considerable sized group we opted for platters ,all of which arrived with piping hot spring rolls, samosas, tenders, ribs, cocktail sausages and wedges accompanied by dips................delicious and the perfect thing to go with our early evening drinks !!! Will definitely return to sample their full menu. Not somewhere that might immediately come to mind to eat but try it out, you won't be disappointed.

The staff were very friendly. It was a bit quiet but that suited us because we had a 20 month old son with us. He was made very welcome and had the run of the place. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a two course meal for 17.50 each and our son had soemthing from the kids menu. I had sea food chowder and roast lamb, and my wife had chicken wings and beef chow mein. The chowder and chicken wings were fine and the lamb was tender and very plentiful, the beef chow mein was a little chewy and disappointing though. Overall a very pleasant evening.

The standard of the food and service is great. It is great standard pub grub and lovely for a few quiet drinks.

Visited the halfway house with a bunch of friends. We got the early bird deal 2 courses for 15, everyone enjoyed their meals, I actually got 2 starters as a main and wasn't charged more. They also gave us a free extra portions of fries for free which was nice of them considering we were on the early bird. Minor mistake made on one persons order but it was rectified immediately. Nice local pub grub and good value!

Had lunch with a friend here last week and found it to be the worst pub lunch I have had in a long time. We ordered fresh fish deep fried in batter which the menu stated was cooked to order. The batter was flabby and extremely greasy, the fish was rubbery and unidentifiable. The vegetables were overcooked and watery and the mash was gluey. Having returned the food without any quibble, we asked for freshly cooked fish and were shortly presented with an even worse version of the fish. The roast potatoes were nice (hence the half a star) so we ate them and left. I have eaten here many times in the past when it was a great (and busy) place for a carvery but sadly no longer. Should have been warned when we had no trouble with parking & getting a table!

I visited the place midweek. The good: Serving Staff were very good/friendly. The bad: The place was very quiet and the food looked reheated. We were pestered by house flies throughout our meal. The house wine that came with the early bird was undrinkable..The waitress was kind enough to change it for us though.

I heard this was a great pub for food so we decided to try it. However I found it over-priced and the food was very disappointing. The fish was not fresh at all and was even a little rubbery. When the bill came it was almost €50 even though all we had was two mains, two soft drinks and soup for my toddler. I'm not sure if there's an early bird but we weren't offered it if there was. I should add that the staff are very friendly and the service is quick, also the atmosphere is lovely

I dont usually have pub grub, but as i was here with friends in the bar i tried the food as it was a long day and i needed to eat, As pub grub goes it very good, as far as price its up there with some of the better restaurants, this wouldnt be too bad if the decor and athmosphere was also up there with the prices but it wasnt. Far too many of the footballshirt/tracksuit brigade in the place to really have an enjoyable meal. like i said the prices are far too high to eat in a place like this at twentyfive euro for a steak and then an extra five for a side dish you would be lucky to get out for under fifty euro a head without wine. Therefore we opted for the fish dishes both very good, the halibuit i had was fresh and really well cooked, the mackrel i am told was good also but at sixteen euro for one of the cheepest fishes you can but i thought it was a bit much. We didnt hang around for coffe or desserts.

Been here several times for Sunday lunch or weekday evening meal. I've never been disappointed and I've always left feeling I've been served good food at reasonable prices. Brought my mother here a few Sundays before and she was able to get reduced portions which are available for OAPs. A nice touch. Highly recommended for pub grub,

I love coming to the Half Way House, so comfortable and cozy, and the food is delicious. Only problem is that when I come here I always have to get the roast beef, its to die for. I have never tasted beef for tasty and melt in the mouth. I need to get the recipe from the chief!
