I have been to the restaurant several times and was generally pleased with the food and service. However, tonight I ordered takeway from Gongs and was very disappointed. Our meal took two hours to arrive, and when I called to inquire about the delay, their response was incredibly unapologetic using the excuse that they were simply busy as a reason for the delay. When the food finally arrived, the rice was rock hard and almost impossible to eat. Their customer service is not up to standard.

This restaurant is across from Tesco and over a bookies. We booked a table on the basis of the reviews here which were very complimentary. We arrived to an overheated restaurant full of steam with no air conditioning or open windows. Our starter of Prok sung was very nice and augured well for the rest of our meal. However the "Fillet" Beef in Black bean was tough and stringy and the Chicken Satay tasted like it came out of a jar. If this was a cheap restaurant I would write it off as my own fault, however, the beef cost nearly EUR20 which is not cheap for stringy meat you are almost afraid to chew. We left half our respective meals behind and were not asked if we enjoyed them. I would say this food would be fine if you just had eight pints and were not too discerning, although the price tag would make your eyes water. Very disappointing, but then again it is "across the road from Tesco and over a bookies".

Takeaway Delivery - Extremely Disappointing and Unhelpful! I ordered via an online service and requested a delivery for 7:30pm. The order confirmed delivery for 7:40pm approximately however the food landed at my door an hour earlier! I called Gongs and was met with an unhelpful explai#nation, blame proportioned to either my misuse of the online website or an error on the online providers side. The girl who answered was unable to be offer a solution (ie deliver the food at the time requested, fresh) and told me she would speak to a manger and call me back. As the delivery driver was at my door for 5 minutes already, i paid and let him go. I got another call again, less assertive, less helpful and offering me 10% off the next order. A little unhelpful as i will not be ordering from them again. i now have a disappointing reheated duck to look forward to sharing with my guests...

I really like this place. Service is excellent and the food is delicious...take away and eating in. It can be quiet enough sometimes, don't know why though.

I like Gong for takeaway. The food is very good. Excellent quality and flavours. Prawns with scallions, basil and ginger, is particularly good. No MSG (I believe). We have eaten in on a few occasions too. Sadly it is a little quiet, but the service is very good.

This restaurant is very quiet during the week. We felt very uncomfortable being the only people there. Because we were the only customers, the service was great, the staff were very attentive. The starters were all a bit small considering the prices but the main courses were a good size and very tasty. I'd recommend the sizzling chicken in garlic sauce. it wasn't on the menu but the kitchen made it anyway. I probably won't go back but it would be great value for a take away.

I have been to this restaurant once and had several takeaways which were nice. However after last nights experience NEVER AGAIN. It was out anniversary so as funds a bit tight at the moment we decided to order in, We ordered through an on line takeaway service and specifically asked for a 6.30 pm delivery. When I got home at 5.25 the order was there. I rang the restaurant and told them it was no good as my husband wasnt home yet and i had requested a 6.30 delivery. To cut a long saga short, the driver came back, snatched the bag out of my hand and reappeared at 6.30 with the same food REHEATED. It was inedible. Prawn toast was rock hard, shredded salt and pepper chicken was burnt, the veg curry was ok but my house special was thick and gloopy and tasteless. Very disappointing.

Regurlarly used this restaurant for take away so we decided to eat in. I feel we got the same quality as we get when we order take away so I think we will just stick to home orders. The staff were very nice though and the price is similar to most other chinese menu's.

Was there with my husband on wednesday for dinner, It was very quiet we were the only people in the place. Service was very good and staff very attentive. I had vegtable spring rolls for starters and my husband had a soup. The vegtable spring rolls could be worked on a bit as they were not very tasty. For main had beef in satay sauce and my husband had the duck. The sauce for the beef dish tasted very powdery and I was a bit disappointed with that. My husband was happy with his duck. Overall food was ok. Food very pricey for the dinner menu compared to the lunch menu. I would go back for the lunch menu again as the price is very good. Jeanseb Dublin.

Had heard great things about Gong. Wednesday nights in Stillorgan clearly aren't the busiest nights so we were the only people in the restaurant bar a young couple and a man who left before we started our meal so atmosphere was a bit dead. Would like to see the place full though because I'm sure it would be great. Food was delicious. Had the shredded pork in garlic sauce, the sizzling prawn and the spicy beef with cumin between 3 of us. All dishes were delicious, the pork was magnificent. It was a little pricey but not overly. Overall a good dining experience, but I would like to come back on a weekend to see if the atmosphere would be better.

Really disappointed to see the bad reviews! Definitely came as a shock as I couldn't recommend this place more. Have never come across more friendly and polite staff in a chinese ever before. The first time I tasted Gongs (after being recommended to me by a big foodie) I thought I had died and gone to food heaven!! Although it is mostly take aways we get from here the food is always exceptional, fresh, huge portions and spot on every time! Would particularly recommend their shredded pork in garlic and chilli! The only thing I could ever fault them on is that sometimes when you call in an order they are too busy and tell you to call back in 40 mins or so, always apologetically mind you. Love the fact too that every 3rd time you order you get 10% off, and always get free prawn crackers!

Spent a friday night at this restaurant. The staff and food were pleasant, though we were disapointed when the cream provided for our coffee was sour & lumpy!
