Four of us went in around 7 P.M, nice table and pleasant greeting from staff.Starters were fine , normal stuff nothing exceptional.Mains for two arrived , after 15 minutes third mains arrived then mine after another 10 minutes and quite a few requests from me as to whats happening. This ruined the evening , never mind the meal and to top it all , no allowances were made on the bill. Will not be back.

Always a fine dining experience

Dined with my friend for lunch on the Friday off the value menu, it is the only day they are open for lunch. We both had meat sung for starters which was delicious but very filling. My companion had Chicken Kung Pao for mains and I had Pawns with ginger and scallion. Both of us had the lovely thin chips. The only complaint I have is as I'm getting older my appetite is decreasing, I'm always full after the starter and I'm never really able to enjoy my main. I always end up bringing most of it home and its never the same. My sister was allowed only have one course from the value menu once but now they insist I have to chose from the more expensive a la carte menu if I wish to do so. I wish there was the option of choosing only a main from the value menu. Saying that the food, service, greeting were impeccable and I wish they'd give me the name of their interior designer.

Zen is in Rathmines 20 years and is still my all time favourite. Great food, brilliant early bird menu during the week, perfect wine and the staff are fabulous.

We decided to treat ourselves to a take out with this well known restaurant and opted to order from a restaurant rather than a standard Chinese takeaway to ensure that we got quality food. We ordered spring rolls, honey spare ribs which we ok. The mains were inedible, we chose sweet and sour chicken which arrived in popcorn style the size of a two cent, the chicken was tasteless the sauce bore no resemblance to sweet and sour and there was no flavour from it. We ordered a fillet of beef curry spicy. The curry colour was light brown and watery the spicy was slices of chili which masked any potential flavour the dish had. We had to search for the meat, the curry had no onions and Carrotts. Again this dish went into the bin. We contacted the restaurant who apologised for the quality of the food and would pass the comments onto the chef. We were told not to order the curry spicy ad the child slices affect the flavour, although flavourless why have this option on the menu. At this point we decide to try the fried rice, it's a sad state of affairs if a Chinese can't get rice right. The rice was hard, undercooked and the two portions ended up in the bin. We can't rate the atmosphere as it was a take out, the service was 5 down to the efficient delivery at a hefty €2.50. The food was extremely poor. The best thing were the snazzy black bags that the food arrived in. At €34 inclusive of delivery we should have had top class food.

Service is second to none. Food was good as always. It was a bit quiet for Thursday but no complains.

I went to Zen with my boyfriend. We both liked the service but the food was really bad. Very bland and tasteless. The food didn't seem to be fresh.

As always food was fantastic and service was great. Monkfish dishes are particularly amazing

The staff (the waitress and the manager) are exceptionally polite, nice and helpful to give good advice and provide information about the menu. The restaurant is very elegant and has nice ambience. Very quiet and relaxing. I loved the fireplace. However, I would prefer to see more choice in the dessert menu.

It was a quiet the night when I was there, so it is hard to rate the atmosphere. Couldn't fault the place otherwise though - great food and service. Will definitely be back.

As usual the food was terrific. The Meat Sung (spicy minced pork with lettuce boats), twice fried duck and monkfish with ginger and scallions were were well cooked and seasoned. The boiled rice was perfect. The other starter was undercooked doughy fried dim sung which was inedible. Pity about that. The wine list is a bit pricy but they have a very decent Temperanillo for €25.
