To say this is a gastro pub is blatant false advertising. The food cant even be described as tasty pub grub. Service was non existant also despite it being a quiet sunday & we had to chase the staff to even take our orders from us.

Had some finger food and couple of pints after an evening walk along the Grand Canal. Food was tasty, pints lovely as well, maybe tiny bit overpriced, however interior of the pub and staff were all so nice that we did not really mind. Will go again, recommended for a casual pint (of few) after work.

Went on a sunny Sunday evening for a bite to eat, we had a chicken wings platter and a couple of beers, the food was tasty enough, a bit overpriced, atmosphere was great in the beer garden, they had a BBQ and the plate were huge and looked delicious, definitely would be back for a proper meal.

Really enjoyed it. I got the steak sandwich which was cooked perfectly, I just found the garlic mayo on the bread to be very strong, so I would recommend asking for it on the side. Other then that nice pub food, not a huge menu but it would have something for everyone.

Excellent dinner, really enjoyed it! Chorizo risotto was delicious, highly recommend it! Wings starter portions were very big, nice sauce. The server/barman was really nice, so accomodating to all our requests. Really enjoyed our dinner. Thanks!

I had heard great things about the food here so I decided to bring a few visiting friends out for a meal. We ordered two steak sandwiches, done medium well and one burger. When the food arrived the first thing that struck us was the poor presentation. Beside the steak sandwich lay a limp salad of ice burger lettuce with no dressing. There was also a little bowl of coleslaw which was mixed with horseradish giving it an unpleasant bitter after taste. I know that some people like this but I wish they had given us the choice between that and ordinary coleslaw. The steak sandwich wasn't much better. Both steaks were under done, under seasoned and garnished with a drizzle of mayonnaise and a few chopped raw onions. I sent my steak back to be cooked medium well and it returned cooked well. My friend who ordered the burger wasn't too impressed either and said that it tasted fine but was nothing to write home about. Finally to top it all off, when we went to pay for the meal the laser card machine wasn't working. On a positive note, the staff were very obliging and very apologetic for the inconvenience caused and the chips were tasty. For the price paid we expected something a bit more impressive. I don't think I'll be returning again.

was there for mothersday and had a great night!! They had a special menu for the day, what suprised me. It didnt sound that exciting but what was delivered on the plate was just fantastic. We had to start the melon&ham;( a mix of different melon and mango, melonballs and two breadcrumped hamballs and some sort of ice on top of it) and a wild herb salad with mozzarella( the mozzarella was crumped and fired) just mouthwatering!! For mains we really enjoyed the hake&salmon;, with grilled cucumber and potatoes and the beef with horseradishsauce. the fish was cooked to perfection and the beef was nicely pink and so tender. we finished with an assiette( creme brulle, raspberrie cheesecake and a divine walnutice) and a choclate-bar,which was just amazing!! Some chocolatecream topped with chocolateballs. Then a jazzband started playing and we stayed untill they finished. Was a great night out with amazing food what you normaly do not see in a pub!! i will come back!!

The Rathmines Inn has re-invented itself as a Gastropub. The pub part is spot on as the black stuff was in tip top condition. I'm not so sure about the Gastro part though. My partner had a goat cheese salad for starter and I had the seafood chowder. The salad was declared edible but dull while my chowder was almost inedible. Badly over salted, I pushed it aside after a couple of mouthfulls. My main of pan fried tuna was a generous portion cooked to order and was the success of the night. My partners cajun chiken with noodles was a disaster. Dried out pieces of precooked chicken in a tasteless tomatoe sauce on cardboard noodles. The extra portion of chips were limp greasy things with skins still on. Bread and butter pudding was heated up but the custard had not permeated to the slices of white bread which were coldly hiding in this stacked version. I prefer mine in a bowl. A gastopub is supposed to provide resteraunt standard food in a pub. The rathmines Inn was a long way off. Will we be back? No.
