The idea to open Kanum came from the families collective love of Thai food and the lack of authentic Thai eateries in Dublin. Kanum is a ‘Thai Diner’ the first of its kind in Dublin, where customers can enjoy quality Thai food in a relaxed casual atmosphere.

We at Kanum Promise to provide our customers with meats traceable directly back to the farm in Ireland, herbs spices and vegetables delivered daily and to provide the best quality authentic Thai food that is virtually fat free and contains ZERO MSGS.

We were loyal customers of Kanum Thai Rathgar branch we ordered our family dinner from them 5 days a week and some weeks 5 days a week. I ordered some dinner and requested it was mild which i always request because I have a 3 and a half year old, in this occasion the dinner arrived and with Jalapeños visibly in it. I called back and ordered a children's portion of pad thai and advised I had ordered and the food and it wasn't mild as requested. The call handler Daniel advised he would give me €2.50 off the Children's pad thai, I advised I wasn't looking for a discount but just in future because we order everyday to make the dish mild as requested or just advise if that not possible are I would order something else. The response I got from Kanum was "We don't taste the food before it goes out the door". Fabulous customer service response. Rather than kick up a fuss I now order my dinner from Saba to go in Rathmines.

Had chicken sweet and sour delivered. Speed of delivery was amazingly good however the food was very disappointing. Was more like sweet and sour batter if I'm honest. I expected a lot more chicken and a lot less batter!! My first time trying Kanum and I won't be back. Can get much better Thai food in the area for the same prices!

Had a takeaway from Rathgar this evening, it was just awful in every respect. Mixed started box consisted of dry overcooked chicken and pork, green curry tasted nothing like a green curry and the black bean dish was actually nice until I bit into a bit of grisly chicken. Really awful food and not worth the outrageous €35 I paid for a starter and two mains. Will never go back again. For a more authentic Thai these guys could learn a lot from Neon on Camden street.

Just had a tasty take out lunch from the branch on Mespil Road. I have some niggly allergies and intolerances so I went very basic (steamed rice, thai veg). Veg was very fresh and the portions were very decent. Cost me less than €6 for a tasty, fresh hot dinner. Cant go wrong with that. Great to know you can get hot, fresh food which isn't deep fried to death in buckets of MSG and fat. Will be going back for more.

Had lunch in the Mespil road takeaway outlet last friday. No complaints about service or value. However, the Meal (Pad Prik) I got was so salty it was verging on inedible. In addtion the Chicken in the dish, had the appearance of being pre-bolied and just trown it to the wok. Ate about a third then left due to being overpowered by the saltiness of the sauce, and felt ill for the afternoon. Will not be returning ever and it is a shame to see a good place go so bad.

I've been Thai Passionate for years and since they open nearly two years ago I've been going regularly. The place is always clean and tidy, you don't have to wait more than ten minutes to get your food and they deliver. I normally get Red Curry with Prawns cause I' like a bit of spice on my meals, The food is full of flavours and the portions are more than for one. They also got good deals for one or two people and the have daily specials, A must try :)

Great food! Tasty, full of ingredients. What is very important for me - very clean with a nice service. Could be slightly cheaper though..

Got a delivery from here today. Very disappointing. Same prices as other Thai restaurants but seriously lacking in quality. I only ordered two things and they forgot to deliver one. I'm not sure i'll even get a refund for what didn't arrive. I ordered the Duck Massaman. It was one blob in a container. The duck was extremely fatty and the rice was stodgy. Most of it went in the bin. Needless to say I won't be back..

I must be one of the few who don’t think that Kanum is the be-all-and-end-all of Thai in Dublin. I’m a Thai nut and have tried many of the dishes here, but feel that they are often lacking and are missing that something that can make Thai special. The curries are often thin and scant on ingredients, the ‘finger-food’ starters/snacks are normally deep-fried and generic-tasting. Service is always friendly and the outlet is spotless, but the food is the thing and I’m afraid that there are better Thais out there.

I have got takeaway from here three times in the last few weeks and its probably the best takeaway i'v ever eaten!! It is far better then any other Thai /Chinse in the area, and i would of tried and tested a lot of them. I work as a chef and can tell that there is love and passion gone into the food aswell as really lovely flavors and spice. I loved both the red and massaman curry and the duck served is lovely and tender. The people i have spoke too on all occasions are helpfull chirpy and polite. The food came quickly. granted it was not at a very busy time but still liked that it was quick and fresh. I don't think i will bother with any of the other takeaways as i truly believe iv found the best!

Been here a few times now, a little more expensive that usual chinese or thai takeaways, but great value for money. Good food and worth it. Not exactly the best restaurant atmosphere and just collect the meal yourself with plastic plates and cutlery, but love the white takeaway boxes so would definately opt for takeaway and have it at home. They do good lunch deals aswell. Love the chow mein or the currys. Will definately be getting it again.

Gorgeous Thai takeaway. Can eat in too but its limited seating and wouldn't be the most atmospheric place but perfect if you are just grabbing lunch or something quick and need a seat! They do sell wine and what not so handy for a one stop shop dinner. The food is amazing, BIG fan. Have been many many times and will be again. Thai Curries, Pad Thai and Stir fry are yummy!
