A wonderful Gastropub situated a stone’s throw away from the very historic Rathfarnham Castle is the Yellow House.

The building itself, the yellow house dates back to the 18th century. It is believed that the first pub bearing the name “The Yellow House” was a thatch cottage standing on the present day Roman Catholic Church of Annunciation. At the time of 1798 and 1803 rebellions, it was owned by a man named Michael Eades and frequented by Arthur Devlin, brother of Anne Devlin who was imprisoned for her part in the hiding of Robert Emmet in 1803. Eades, a united Irish Man and his family were suspected of republican sympathies and the tavern was destroyed in 1803. A new yellow house was built on its present site in 1825 by Mary Murphy and opened for business in 1827.

Good pub, well run that serves good food. Place needs a proper facelift and upgraded toilet facilities. Good venue with little local competition but the toilets give a bad impression.

I love the yellow. Proper local pub serving great bar food. The day we were here it wasn't too busy so we were served promptly. Food was great , I had a burger and my friend had the soup. Both happy with our meals. Always a friendly atmosphere if a little quiet. Definitely be back!

The Yellow House is a regular haunt of ours for our family friday dinners. Yes it's a pub, but the food is fantastic and they are so welcoming to our little girl. My favourite is the Venison Burger. Best burger I've had ANYWHERE! They have recently update their menu and it has gotten even better. Can't recommend this place enough. Staff are brilliant - friendly and thoughtful. Give it a try...you won't be disappointed!

visited list night our table late despite getting a call earlier in the evening to confirm time. Poor service. Some food cold and and steaks not done as ordered. Side dish arrived after meal finised. When we were asked if food was ok by waiter and we said no and listed complaints nothing was done apart from the side dish not charged for. We had good experience at this venue before and so recommended it for this party - will not be going again.

Ate here recently and it was lovely but I find it can be very up and down. I once ordered an omelette and it was more like scrambled egg, turned me right off my dinner.

Went here for the evening a la carte recently. Very busy, although that was due to the Leinster match being on I'd imagine! Food was lovely, plenty of it, but thought a bit over priced, as are alot of pubs in Dublin in my opinion! I would go back, but wouldn't be rushing.

Went for a meal there last nith for my dad 75 birthday and i have to say the food was not great at all. the starters were good but from there on it went down hill. 3 people had pasta which was not cooked and the duck was over cooked it was very disapointing . when we were finished and paid the bill we noticed we had been charged for 8 bottles of win when we had only had 6 we pointed this out and were given a refund right away. But i do have to say it not as good as it used to be.

Myself and the kids went for the carvery here on sunday. It was local and handy so said we would try it. We all had the roast beef with all the trimings and all our meals were excellent. Kids cleared the plates and polished of every bit of the carrots and cabbage along with the beef, The Yellow house will our weekly choice if we can continue to get good carvery for a good price.

Called in for few drinks and food. 2 of us had chicken and chips. I would say it is good quality food they are serving but a small half chicken with a very small handfull (maybe 12!) chips for the price of €16 is not good enough. Yes the food was nicely cooked and all but thats far too expensive for what it is. Other members of the party had burgers which were fine but again the offering of chips was pityful. May eat here again as its local but convenience would be the only reason. Service was fine, didnt notice good or bad so acceptable i guess would describe it.

Went here Saturday night during the Ire -v- Fra game, it was packed & we thought never going to get served. How wrong we were. I explained we were in a rush & the waitress said no prob. We ordered fish & chips, chicken pate & lasange, all the food was gorgeous & big portions. Even during the madness of the match we got served quickly & efficiently & left with full tummys. I would recommend to anyone.

I have been a regular to the pub for many years with my family. More recently I have enjoyed a fantastic re-vamp of the menu, I would recommend the home made burger or the gougons of Cod, the presentation of the food is excellent and in these times it is definitely VALUE FOR MONEY.
