The food here was tasty and served in big portions. There were 6 adults for the meal and felt that the table was a bit small. The service while friendly was a bit frantic. You got the impression that they were understaffed.

A group of 7 of us had a nice Sunday lunch here on Sunday. I have eaten in the Dropping well many times and it never disappoints, the standard is always the same. The men in my family always rave about the burger and the lasagna. The staff are extremely efficient and always very helpful. Plus the chips are great. A good all rounder pub grub option.

A group of 4 of us had the €20 Early Bird Dinner Menu for 2 courses. There is good choice and the option of either starter or main course. The food is fine, fairly standard pub fayre, portions larger than average and good service. Unfortunately the evening we were there were several small children running/crying around which spoiled the atmosphere

Treated out today, there were 3 of us in total. I started with the fish starter consisting of fresh salmon, smoked salmon & prawns with Marie Rose sauce at €9 which I thought was a bit steep given the 4 or 5 prawns I got and since it is not a difficult dish to start, saying that it was tasty & just what I wanted. Another went for chicken liver pate & another went for the soup of the day which was potato & leek & he said there was ateing & drinking in it. For mains 1 chose stuffed roast pork, another lasagne with thick chips (I believe thin ones are available also) & salad & I chose golden fried plaice with roast & mashed potato & asked for raw onion instead of the traditional cooked veg. I could have opted for grilled plaice also. Servings were plentiful, I got a huge piece of plaice & a huge quenelle of mashed potato which I thought could have more daintily presented, & 1 roast potato. Everyone enjoyed their starters mains & desserts. For dessert 1 chose trifle, another pavlova & I chose bread & butter pudding with ice cream. I got a very ample serving of a big square of pudding & it was very nice. Teas and coffees came with a biscuit and afterwards we received a chocolate, all nice touches. We were seated in the bright conservatory overlooking the river which was very pleasant. Service as very prompt & good. The main downside is the menu is not that adventurous and doesn't seem to change much however we had a very pleasant, tasty meal in a nice setting which we all enjoyed.

Had heard that this was a good place for lunch and it certainly exceeded my expectations. We sat at a table overlooking the river which added to the cozy atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and service was swift and nothing was too much trouble. The menu is traditional, but the food is gorgeous and presentation is good. I had hake, served on a bed of mash and spinach which was piping hot and really tasty! I will definitely be back again soon.

Myself and my friend just had a main course each. I chose the black pudding salad which is very tasty though must have had a whole punnet of tomatoes in it. I didn't get much of the flavour of the mustard sauce coming through. My friend had sea bream with Provençale sauce and potatoes. He really enjoyed his dish. Got a nice table in the corner of the bright conservation. Service good and cheerfully delivered as always. Atmosphere good the only downside is I felt the menu choice for the mains lacked a bit of imagination.

We were here for a family function after a funeral. The food was very tasty and the staff were absolutely excellent particularly considering the circumstances. Would highly recommend for this type of gathering.

Dined in the airy, bright conservatory with 2 other people. Asked could I have a half portion of the Clonakilty black pudding salad for starters & they kindly obliged. Portion was huge, got about 5 or 6 pieces of black pudding. Flavours lovely. Minor criticisms. Bacon was almost cremated & I would have preferred poached egg more runny so it could ooze over the black pudding. Companions had chicken liver parfait. They enjoyed it. For mains two of us had the fish special of sea trout with spinach, mashed potato, samphire, a small tomato concoction on the fish & butter sauce with capers. I asked for bread stuffing which they kindly obliged with a huge portion on the side. Fish was very fresh but would prefer it served fish side up rather than skin side. Very nice dish indeed. Companion had steak sandwich. All dished beautifully presented, very tasty & portions very good. Had no dessert but companions shared a pavlova served with fresh fruit. Finished off with tea served with a biscuit & got a choccie at the end. Those little extra touches are important. Best meal I've had out in a long time, really enjoyed nearly every component. Waitresses were very nice, chatty & friendly. Everyone left very happy & full.

We came here for a wedding celebration, and it was great. The function room upstairs was nicely decorated and the staff were so nice. Our food came out and each course was delicious, and the portions sizes were great. Would definitely recommend this place for either pub grub or an occasion, we will be back, the food was so nice!

My wife and I eat in The Dropping Well every few weeks and are always satisfied. This time she had the Roast (Beef) of the day and I had the hake fish dish of the day. Both were superb! The staff are excellent. Always pleasant and chatty but not in your face. Great wine list too! Great atmosphere. All good!

Twelve of us went there for a 65th birthday dinner. It was a surprise party and the staff made it very memorable. We had the early bird menu which is a very reasonable €20.00 for two courses and tea/coffee included. The food is excellence and great portion sizes. Everyone got something different and we tasted a few different dishes and it was delicious. The staff were very attentive. Full of smiles and compliments. The setting is lovely and we had a table at the back overlooking the river. Top marks all around and will be back again sooner rather than later.

I went there with friends for a dinner few weeks ago. the bar area was okay but the restaurant was very busy. the food was great and the girl who was serving us very friendly. unfortunately I can't say that about all of the staff working there during our visit. another think what was disturbing us was the hanging dead animals. hope they will do something about this.

As always, the atmosphere and the staff made our visit to The Dropping Well. Even though you're sitting near the bar area you don't feel it as the restaurant's like its own world. The food is delicious although a little dearer than other pubs. Highly recommded for a group booking or a casual meal.
