Myself and three of my children and their girlfriends dined in mao Dundrum on Sat 23rd April. We had a lovely evening. The food here was excellent as was the service. The staff were very friendly and as it was my birthday ,they brought me out a choc brownie with icecream and sang Happy Birthday. The only downside is this restaurant is quite noisy. There were alot of young families there.I thought it would be more intimate. It is quite expensive also.Having said that the food and service is first class.

This restaurant is an excellent option for a pre-theatre or pre-cinema bite to eat. There is a very varied selection to suit a variety of tastes. Two of my personal favourites are the Nasi Goreng or the Malaysian Chicken.

Nice place with great food in general, but feels like a mix of fast-food and asian restaurant, a bit loud to my taste.

Good for a quick bite but wouldn't go here on a 'special' date.. Usually find Mao to be a bit overpriced for what you're getting but cannot deny the food is tasty.

Went for a meal here on a warm(ish) Thursday evening. Just dropped in and got a table upstairs. We weren't so hungry but just went for mains and were very pleasantly surprised. Food was really tasty, fresh and flavoursome. I got the daily special of Surf and Turf (Beef and Prawn on noodles), great value at €10.50. My wife had the beef with Black pepper and this was excellent. Beers were good, service was ok, atmos was a bit poor but heyho, I would recommend for a quick and tasty treat.

Food is very tasty and fresh. Staff were very friendly. We were dining as a family of 5 so getting the food quickly is a must, which did happen. However, the problem occurs when we finish. The kids get bored, we just want to pay and go, but we were all alone and it took 10 minutes of trying (so about 20mins after we had finished) to be able to pay. Plates still on the table as well. I have the same problem in alot of restaurants and never understand why staff don't correct this when serving families.

Nice place, convenient location, tasty food with generous portions. "Thai Green Curry with Prawns" was fantastic. A little bit lack of Asian authentic spirit in interior, waiters and menu design. Anyway, I'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

Long Queue waiting but the staff were very honest & advised reserve & come back in 30mins instead of waiting indefinitely, appreciated this & we were seated effortlessly once we had a reservation. Restaurant was buzzing with Friday night crowd but was very cold, waitress agreed and confirmed many customers were complaining about it but nothing was done to improve situation. Food arrived quickly and the Nasi Goreng was excellent with great flavours and textures and good value for money, Malaysian Chicken however while had good flavours it was full of red onion (excessive amount) compared to all other ingredients. Service was fast and staff very helpful and friendly. Had Mao vouchers to use and the waitress had to call another waitress who called a manager to process them. Overall nice for a quick bite if you can get a table but I wouldn't plan it for a special occasion

Had eaten in Mao in Chatham Street long before it was rebranded and remembered the food being exciting and tasty. We were enticed by the 3 course early bird menu for 19.99 - service was poor - waiter left the wine on the table and did not check how it was. starters were ok even though I did not get exactly what I ordered. Pad Thai main was a mass of insipid noodles with a few pieces of dried up chicken, hardly any sauce and none of the 2 chili pepper spiciness the menu promised. Waiter only asked was I finished when taking away my almost full dish. OH's Malaysian Chicken was nothing special. Very shocked to find a service charge on the bill - for 2 people - asked to speak to a supervisor who showed me the small print but took the service charge off once I argued the case for not paying. Will not be returning.

Ate here yesterday afternoon. The place was fairly empty yet the food seemed to take a long time. Food was bland and not enough sauce on the dishes. I was a bit miffed to find a service charge on the bill for was is basically a variant of a fast food restaurant
