When fear gripped a small south side village... When all hope was but lost, when authenticity was laid to waste and no sushi was to be found... ...we saw the sign 'Hailin' across the night skies. You the saviour, nay, the Poseidon of Japanese cuisine rose from the depths of soy sauce seas, emerging from the deep-fried depths of seaweed wrapped hydra of Katsu curry and Teppanyaki to rescue those who cannot rescue themselves! nAuthentic nDecor - simplistic nReal Japanese waitresses nMetal chops sticks (awesomeness)nWine menu! nGood pricesnAlso does Chinese/Thai/KoreannAlleged avocado sushi was cucumber (sneaky)nDirectly across the street from the pub (scoreballs!)nAll in all a great experience!nJ&P

Great addition to Dundrum, now serving Korean and Thai food as well as Japanese. We were in relatively early (around 5pm) and the place was quite quiet but soon more people came in. I had salmon and tuna sushi which was very good, large portions compared to most sushi restaurants in Dublin. Recommended!

We were in Dundrum for an event and thought we'd try out Hailan Japanese. The decor is simple but cosy (there is a lot of wood). We live on the other side of town, have tried most of the Japanese restaurants closer to us and were very positively surprised at the quality of the sushi. The norimakis and nigiris were picture perfect and the teriyaki sauce on the tofu steak was the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. We also took it as a good sign that everybody in the restaurant apart from us was Asian. While the restaurant is only 2 minutes walk from the Luas and bus stops (so reasonably accessible) it is a pity that it is not closer to town.

I had sushi and a few other dishes delivered from Hailan a few days ago and was really pleasantly surprised. The sushi was so fresh and tasty and everything else was equally as good, and great value. I've eaten in a good few japanese restaurants in Dublin, and sometimes find it hard to get really fresh, nice sushi...the best I had found was quite pricey, but this was at least as good if not better and much better value. Staff were very nice and delivery was really quick too. Will be ordering from here often!! I highly recommend!

Good value for money! Apparently this place has just opened in Dundrum, you could see that the´re still sorting out the decoration. It was almost empty when we arrived. I think this place is a hidden gem. Although the service was slow, we were delighted with the food! I would recommend the ebi dumplings.
