wont go back here - the service is awful they hardly have time to acknowledge you and the food is bland - a rip off in my opinion

This is a really great place. Staff were very welcoming to us with our toddler twins and there were lovely clean high chairs available. Food was great and plenty for vegetarians like ourselves. Coffee was also fab. Very importantly the staff were really helpful. Look forward to going back again

I've been here several times for lunch, and there is always a warm atmosphere and friendly welcoming staff. The food is very comforting and rustic, with a good selection on paninis and rolls, salads and quiches. Very Avoca-,like. They've a sumptious collection of cakes, cookies and other sweet treats for dessert and I hear the scones are amazing. The coffee is also great. I'll definitely be visiting here on a regular basis.

My friend and I had a long leisurely Sunday brunch in Poppies. It was bustling with families, couples and friends meeting up - very busy. Newspapers were available - nice touch. The service was very efficient and fast and the food was fine, although my "Poppies Chicken" dish could have been a bit hotter. This is a very accessible eatery, with plenty of parking available in the area on Sunday, but perhaps a bit more difficult on weekdays. The Poppy theme is carried through with Poppy paintings and flasks available for sale.

Dropped in here for a quick bite on a Sunday evening and had the soup of the day which was vegetable.I wanted brown bread with it but was informed straight away that there was no brown bread, white rolls, or brown scones left only brown sliced pan bread.I asked for a white scone instead.Disappointed they had run out of several of their staples but it was 5.30 on a Sunday evening and half hour before closing time. The soup and scone were served piping hot and tasted very nice. The soup wasn't a huge portion though considering it cost €5. The atmosphere was good as it was quite busy being one of the later opening cafes in the town. The selection of main courses was varied, with plenty of pies, quiches and bakes together with salads and lots of cakes. The prices are quite high though. The staff were very pleasant. There was reading material provided. Will return but they should lower their prices slightly.

We were staying in Dublin for the Theatre Festival and spent a day in Dunlaoghaire, walking the pier and shopping. My daughter had told me to visit this restaurant. Well it was really good. Real home baking and the salads were superb. Also the staff could not be more friendly.

Was very dissapointed with this restaurant. A sign outside said that all takaway meals were €5. I ordered a beef and guinness pie meal and a chicken and mushroom pie meal to take away. What I actually got was a tiny slice of each pie with nothing on the side. Hardly a meal, and at €5 very overpriced. The pie was tasteless aswell : ( never again

Am a regular here at this stage! Love it! Food is lovely as are the staff. Good selection also. The scones are second to none! Mains are a bit pricey for a coffee shop but are lovely. Love the selection of lemonades and other soft drinks too. Beautiful lattes! Will most definitely be back for another treat after a walk on the pier.

quite a busy place surprisingly, and it's not great. Thet serve microwavr rashers for the fry!! they're horrible! and it's not cheap either. The pancakes are very rubbery too. Service is slow. only ever seen one waitress working at a time. Tables are cramped together. Not a place for a catch-up with your mates!

Very unusual, healthy food, probably something for everyone! I've popped in here a couple of times while out enjoying the sun in Dun Laoghaire and I always find it difficult to choose what to have and always enjoy everything I end up getting! The atmosphere isn't that great or anything, but it's definitely worth checking out even if you can't stay long and if it's just to grab a snack on the go!

The perfect lazy weekend brunch! Or a quick coffee and a cake. Good wholesome food. A little bit quirky, some unusual choices but many traditional one too. It's not the cheapest cafe in town but still good value for the quality they guarantee.

I'm sorry to be giving Poppies a poor score. I mean, it ain't terrible or anything, it's a basic cafe and it does that fine. It's just not really my thing and there's better cafes nearby. Still, they do have a quite eclectic choice of food (a chicken bake with cornflakes on top!) and some cute sounding sandwiches. They do nice scones, and milkshakes which is unusual (but good!) A grand place for a Sunday afternoon coffee when finishing up in the market in the People's Park.
