Harrys is very deceptive from the outside and has some of the best breakfasts in Dun Laoghaire. The Big breakfast is superb, and very reasonable. We had 2 big breakfasts and tea, we left clean plates. The place looks a bit dull but the food speaks for its self

I met my father here for breakfast before going to work. It's a usual spot for us, a cozy little joint in the heart of dun laoghaire and although some posters complain about the decor, I think it kind of adds to the place.. kind of shabby chic. I had the french toast with maple syrup. Although this dish is supposed to come with bacon, I wasn't given the usual 'here's the annoying vegetarian' look when I asked for no bacon. A welcome change to be honest. The orange juice I was served tasted freshly squeezed, it was delicious. My father had 'Harry's big breakfast' (a full-irish breakfast) and he had no complaints. My only problem is service was extremely slow, it took some time to get our order in and considering that the place wasn't that busy, the food took some time to arrive. All in all though, I will return.. I enjoy breakfasts at Harrys.

We were in Harry's Cafe 28/07...This place definitely needs refurbishment. Looks dirty and old. Service was ok. Food, the starter was too big, my partner had nachos and I had spicy chicken which was far from spicy. Nothing waooo. Main course arrived very fast.I had Fish with smash green leaves didn't rise my appetite at all. Hake was ok, I wish it had a nice lemon sauce and a bit seasoning on it and a fresh green salad, not those recognizable smash leaves. My partners chicken burger was so massive it could be enough for two..too much everything and was not spicy more tasteless and enjoyable. My partners desert was good he said it was the best chocolate brownie. My desert raspberry something....was not tasty at all. We will never go back there and they didn't say on menu pages that they do not serve any alcohol...We will not recommend to go for nice meal.

I bought a voucher through menu pages for dinner. We had a very nice meal and the service was excellent, really pleasant staff. The food was good quality and the surroundings was fine. The only downside was that there was a special menu for diners with vouchers, this menu was very limited, with only a few optional available for each course, this was disappointing as I had eaten here before from the regular menu and this reduced version felt like a bit of a cheat.

Restaurant response:
Hi there, sorry you found the menu restrictive, but a deal for two for 4 courses at €34.5, means we get a net gain of €7. In those circumstances, we have to restict our offerings...glad you liked the food and service. Cheers Derek

We enjoyed our visit to Harry's Bar and the food as always was very good and the staff very pleasant. I would go more frequently if the menu changed more often. The surroundings e.g toilets however could do with being refurbished, the floor re-sanded and the paintwork freshened up ( a general overhaul).

Restaurant response:
Hi there, thanks for the observations. You are correct, we need a spuce up, as soon as we can afford it we will do it...by end of year, I hope. Cheers Derek

Great value deal, shame it was almost empty. I've been here for brunch a few times and its always been busy. Excellent service. Only fault was hake dish overall was too oily and could have had more potatoe and veg.

Been to Harry's Bar twice with my family and we were happy with the service and food at both times. The 1st time we went there for breakfast and the 2nd time was for some scones and coffee in the afternoon. We were attended to and served quickly. Lovely place to go too for a quick bite especially when just walking around the Dun Laoghaire town.

Availed of a meal deal. Friendly welcome and allowed to choose our own table even to the extent of putting two tables together so that we could both sit with our backs to the wall. My wife had Chilli Garlic Gambas on Toasted Bruschetta and I had Tex-Mex Chilli Beef Nachos as starters: both generous portions and very tasty. Had tuna from starter menu as a main course + Char-Grilled Aged Striploin - all full of flavour. Attentive waiter replenished our water without needing to be asked. The quality of the food and the friendliness of the service made for a very pleasant experience - will be back.

I've been eating at Harry's for years, mostly the odd breakfast of light lunch and have always had a great esperience. Recently however I feel the standards have sadly dropped. I went in for a breakfast about 2 weeks ago and was left unattended for over 15 minutes, no menu, nothing, The place is hardly huge and it wasn't even full but the waiter just completely ignored me so the girl making coffees had to leave her station and give me a menu. Eventually the waiter came over, took my order and even then got it wrong. 2 days ago I went back with my family for some lunch and again left feeling let down. Firstly the 3 of us had just sat down at a table for 4 when we were asked to move to a table for 2 with another chair. A very tight fit. Immediatly we vacated the table for 4 another party of 3 showed up and were allowed to sit at the table we had just left. They had not reserved a table, as we had not. We were not impressed! The 3 of us ordered. When two of the main courses were being served the waiter informed us that he shouldn't have taken my wife's order for pancakes as they had run out of pancake mix and didn't have time to make more. How can you not have time to mix some flour, eggs milk and water together? There was barely an apology, just a statement. So my wife had to re-order while we ate our lunch and we sat there while she eventually got hers. There was no warmth in the service, we had no feeling that our visit was appreciated, so we will not be back. A real shame as it used to be really great.

Restaurant response:
Dear Mr Pinto, As with all our reviews on Menu Pages, we consider carefully what is said by the customer. Thankfully, our reviews are usually around the 4star+ level. which we see is the level you generally review at. With regard to the first visit you were unhappy with, it is rare that a table is not attended to, but it can happen, as mistakes can be made and then we rely on the customer to indicate their presence. I apologise you were left waiting. As for the second visit, we asked you to move, as we try to manage our tables to maximise the number of seats. In these times, that is critical for us. Most of our customers are fine with this and understand. As for the food order, happily we were very busy and unfortunately we had run out of pancakes, unfortunately too Rory had forgotten and put your order in the kitchen. This was only noticed at the time the rest of the order was ready. Jack was upfront with you, when delivering the food and apologised a number of times, and took your replacement order, which was delivered in 5 mins. We were not in a position to make pancake mix at that time, as it would have disturbed the timing of the other orders in the kitchen. In addition the pancake mix and preparation is not as simple as you suggest. Our preparation was behind, as our 2nd shift cook was an hour late due to transport issues. As you can see, most problems are around people and unfortunately, we all make mistakes, we try to minimise them, always improving. While we rarely impact the customer, in your case we did. My apologies. Do call and see either Andy or myself. Derek

Very friendly cafe and a good place to meet a friend for a cup of coffee or Saturday brunch. I got the big breakfast which was lovely. My only complaint was I only got 1 sausage instead of 2 but I was full anyway with the generous portions. Lovely coffee too. Would recommend!
