I adore this pub. It's the most comfortable, down to early, relaxing friendly laid back put I've ever been in. By far an away my favourite pub, because I really look for those things above other qualities. Wonderful staff, decent pub grub (I had the fish and chips which hit the spot in between a few pints). 10 out of 10 on my scale!

I came here on a Friday after work. I hadn't had any lunch so was looking forward to a bite to eat. I chose the fish and chips as you generally can't go wrong with that. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I did not like the fish at all. I expected it to be in a batter, but it wasn't. The chips were nice and the fish was edible but I would not recommend it. A colleague clever chose the toasted sandwiches. This place is definitely pub grub and not in a good way. I would recommend this place only for drinking not for eating. The fish and chips was not worth 9euros.

Definitely the best pub in Donnybrook. McCloskeys has a large bright area at the back and a lovely beer garden so it isn't dark and dingy like so many old pubs. Their lunch is very reasonable and their sandwiches are delicious.
