Great food, great value, service could be better, décor needs serious updating. New carpets and a lick of paint would help alot

Myself and my boyfriend had been really looking forward to trying here as we had read such good reviews. We were very disappointed and actually felt a little cheated. The food did not deserve to be this expensive along with the wine menu which you're looking at spending around 8.50 for a glass. The starters and dessert I have to say were tasty but both main courses were well below par. I ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas. What came was packet french fries, canned peas and fish in batter that was not freshly made either. I've had far nicer in numerous pub food menus. My boyfriends steak was lacking in taste and the vegetables hard. He said he'd have cooked nicer himself which is not what you want when paying €100 for a meal. The service was good which made us unable to express our true feelings about how disappointed we were on the night. Won't be back. Overall overpriced, over-rated place. Doesn't deserve the above 4 star average.

We came here for an early bird on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is a bit dated on the inside but that is about the only fault I would give the place. The staff were great, the service was fast and the food was delicious. We ordered a lot of fish dishes and the portions were generous and the food was great. We were dining with a young child and the staff were extremely accommodating. Looking forward to going back for more!

Unfortunately, first impressions upon entering the restaurant were disappointing due to the out-of-date interiors - it is seriously time to redecorate. Service was formally polite but a little rushed. We were placed next to a large party and the noise meant we could barely hear each other talk, which does not lend to a pleasant "romantic" evening when you have to keep repeating yourself and talk louder than is comfortable. Food was good and tasty but simple and nothing exciting. I can understand why this would make it popular with a much older crowd which were in the majority. It was too expensive for an experience that was not totally enjoyable and we would not return.

We had a fabulous evening in August. We dined on the Celebration menu which was exceptional value. Enjoyed delicious Crab Claws to start (there were so many) and fish for my main course. The food was outstanding we both really enjoyed our declicious meals. We will definitely be back.

Ate with my dining club. Service was highly efficient. I had a pate starter followed by a lemon sole main. To finish I had a cheese plate. All my food was very nice and this was echoed by my fellow diners. Overall an enjoyable dining experience in a well established eatery with an individual personality.

Really disappointed with this restaurant. Always wanted to go there. Had the celebration menu, plenty to choose from but the food just was not up to standard, it was very basic in flavour, I could have cooked better myself. We were presented with the desserts on a tray and didnt look good. Definitely won't be returning. The place is also in need of a make over, looks very dated.

This Restaurant is just a pleasure to visit. The atmosphere is wonderful, staff extremely helpful and friendly and the food is delicious. A selection of house wines was offered to us and the wines were both excellent and good value.

Fantastic service, amazing food! And we got an extra bottle of wine thrown in for our group of 11! Couldn't have asked for a better way to ring in 2014.
