Went there on a quiet Monday night with my GF. I like the pub for years and it's always nice atmosphere, personnel is always friendly and prizes are very moderate. I had a steak which I ordered rare because I actually wanted it medium - if you ever ordered a steak you know it never comes medium if you ordered medium - anyway, it came well done. I didn't want to complain but again I wondered, as so many times before, why would someone work as a cook if he is not even able to do a medium steak. The steak was ok even being overcooked, so I guess it would have been really good if prepared well. My GF had the Chicken Wings which were definitely the worst I ever tried. I don't know what went wrong with these. They were fatty, slimy and tasteless, as if cooked from frozen and and not fried long enough. Altogether, considering it's only pub food and maybe the cook had just a bad day, it's a nice pub.

A top notch carvery... but you get what you pay for vegetables appear to be fresh (rather than frozen)... Good choice of salad.. average Sunday lunch on a whole but definitely toward the top of the pile when is comes to it! I like the touch of been able to serve yourself tap water and a choice of cordials!

I visited the wishing well on a quiet sunday at about noon. Every Sunday they have a carvery which always has the basic chicken and beef but the wishing well had a great menu with alot more to offer than just the basics. They also provided kids meals as well. I had the beef with stuffing, veg, roast potatoes and potatoes. They gave me a huge portion and the food was lovely. The staff were very friendly and chatty.

It is pub grub and I had a steak sandwich which I enjoyed cooked as ordered and tasty. Big portions and not a bad choice of wine by the glass. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is relaxing with a lovely fire. Would recommend, if in the area.

While the food here isn't that great (well, it is pub grub...), there's a gorgeous garden round the back to sit in under the summer sun with a cold drink for an enjoyable evening out with friends. Not really worth the trip in my opinion unless the weather permits you to venture outside, but as pubs go, it's nice.

Have eaten here many a time, and whilst the atmosphere, banter and friendliness is always at a high, the food unfortunately remains average at best. Whilst I couldn't find fault with the food I have eaten here (ranging from steak sandwiches to chicken wings), I never have anything to write home about. And whilst the prices here are fairly standard, when you are being served average food, the price then seems a bit too pricey. The staff here could be the nicest barstaff you'll meet, and when it becomes jammed, it can be tough to get attention. This is my experience of the menu food, however I have yet to experience the carvery.

Have eaten here a few times.....service is excellent, quick and the food arrives promptly after ordering. The food is pretty good as pub grub goes. Average value wise and as for atmosphere it is a typical pub. The only draw back is that it is impossible to get away from tv screens as they are everywhere....great if there is something that you want to watch, invariably it is sport but otherwise can be a bit annoying.

I have had the carvery and the pub grub from here. The carvery is the same as most pubs who do carvery. I much rather the pub grub and when you place your order it doesnt take too long before its in front of you. Portions are a nice size and the food is tasty.

Good pub grub for the price you pay and attentive staff (must have been asked did I want coffee by 4 different people!). Good carvery and toasted ham & cheese sandwiches with real carvery ham in them.

Really good pub grub at a very reasonable price. Wine list is at the lower end of the scale, suits people looking for a bottle under €20 to wash the food down. Service is bit hit and miss but to expect high quality service is ambitious. Good food to accompany a few drinks in a nice cosy pub.
