The Irish are known worldwide for their friendly, good natured hospitality. Their humor and friendship will always remain with me. The best memory I'll have is the fun and laughs I've had with Jerry O'Reilly at the Gasworks bar connected to the Grand Canal hotel in Dublin.nThe fun and laughs we had with Jerry will be the reason I'll always return to the Grand Canal hotel and drink at the Gasworks.

If I could give no stars I would place is a disgrace went for lunch today waiting 40 mins for food to arrive when it did the both orders were wrong and had to wait. Second time the food arrived 1 order was right and other wrong again at this stage i wasn't impressed after I ate mying the other food arrived and was wrong yet again this isn't on. We were told the kitchen staff weren't expecting it to be so busy this is what restuarnts are about I'll never step food into this place again or recommend it. We shouldn't of having to pay for the first order at all

We had a meal here last night. The place itself was pretty dim/dark and the music was heavy & loud. The food itself was quite good although the chowder was a bit watery but there was plenty of fish. Waiter who served us needed more training as he had to come back to us to check our order. I was surprised that we were not asked if we wanted a drink so we settled for the water which was on the table. I would go back again but would hope that the interior was brightened up and the music volume lowered.

Had dinner here Mon evening before show at Bord Gais theatre. Bit apprehensive when I walked into bar. Too many large TV screens and blaring music. Place in serious need of re-decoration. However, barman who served us really nice and food surprisingly good. Had tempura prawns to start - delicious. Tempura batter feather light. Haddock, chips and mushy peas for mains very tasty. Chocolate ganache dessert very enjoyable - layers of cake and mousse with rich chocolate icing - whole meal, while no doubt mega fattening - really enjoyable and very well presented. Would go back if music lowered and bar spruced up.

After eating here a number of times and being reasonably happy I had the misfortune to order chicken wings which I have severe doubts were cooked properly. I had ordered chips and when I asked the waitress for them, I was rudely told that I hadnt ordered any but she would get me some. When they arrived they were still frozen in the middle as were my colleagues whose chips had arrived with his main course but were also not cooked. Some lovely staff others not so much. I try to avoid this pub to be honest which is a shame

I came here to watch the Wimbledon Final with my boyfriend. We both looked around and thought that this bar might be the best choice around where we live. It was also one of the few pubs to actually broadcast the final. However, when we arrived, they could not turn the sound of the match on as it would require turning off their music. This was a little annoying but we decided we would settle for this. We ordered chips to nibble on. They were pretty nice, but the portion at €3.50 was a little steep. It was hard enough to concentrate on the match without the sound, but this seemed to be a family pub where lots of rowdy children and babies came and were encouraged. At this point, we regretted our decision to come to the pub. Not even halfway into the match, a group also watching the match were asked if it was ok to turn the channel over to hurling to suit another group of people. They said that they were watching the match and the waiter retreated back. We were a little taken aback by the request. Less than 15 minutes later, we were told that the group wanting to watch the hurling were quite large and in order to change their television, the tv we were watching from had to also be changed. They told us we could relocate to the back where one tv was still playing the match. We grumbled over to the tv which had poor reception. To add insult to injury, none of the tables had been cleaned before they asked us to relocate. We had to sit at a table with rubbish strewn over it and glasses everywhere. At this point we would have just left but unfortunately I had ordered a small dish to tide my hunger. I ordered the crostini which was nice, if not underwhelming. Another complaint I had was that after it was set down, a waiter decided to clean the table with a spray. The crostini was very simple, the salsa tasted primarily of tomato purée and at €7, was a bit of a joke. After I finished my meal, we decided to settle the bill which came to a ridiculous figure. The match was only almost halfway through when we had enough of this place

The mushroom risotto with added chicken was delicious and the portion size was spot on. The pub was quiet enough for a bank holiday Friday but we made our own atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the table service was excellent. The menu definitely offers good value for money. Overall I was very happy and will be returning for food (and drinks) again soon.

The carvery lunches are overpriced and not particularly good. Vegtables are generally undercooked and the choice of salads is poor. But what really lets this place down is the standard of service. Some of the junior waiters and waitresses are friendly, but the more senior and long-standing staff don't really seem to have the concept of "service with a smile". Further, the pub's loyalty card programme in fact inspires the opposite of loyalty - making it very difficult to claim under it, despite posters to the contrary. All-in-all there are lots better places to eat round here at lunchtime - or stretch your legs and walk over to Grand Canal Square, where there is much more choice, service and value for money.

Have eaten here a few Sunday evenings and availed of their Sunday Lunch offer. The food is good for what you pay for, the portions are quite generous and the bar is clean and modern. Fajitas are a great choice!

Had appetisers here with drinks on a Saturday evening. Nice atmosphere and the macho nachos are really good as are the chicken wings. Staff are very friendly. All of the food coming out looked really good and not like it had been sitting around.
