Delicious food in pleasant surroundings, with attentive, extremely friendly staff. Food spicy, but not excessively hot. Good wine list, though not all available for our visit. The early bird menu is a no-brainer! Great choice.

I have been coming here for years and it is still as good as ever . Excellent, efficient and courteous staff, great food and a lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit and by far the best Chinese in the area.

Booked a table for 3 friends, to cut a long story short, I have to say my main course (curry) was disgraceful for a restaurant, the boiled rice was burnt at the bottom of the dish, the chicken was jelly like, a takeaway Would have been better, I was going to complain but my 2 friends persuaded me not to, would never set foot in their again, apart from our table, there was only one other table taken I wonder why?

Really high quality authentic Chinese cuisine in Dublin 4. Great service too. Cannot understand why this restaurant isn't full every night of the week given the quality and freshness of the food. Perhaps because it's somewhat hidden from the street, It's a little pricey but just a little... and well worth it. If you're in Dublin 2 or 4, go seek out this hidden gem - the Orchid on Pembroke Road in Ballsbridge.

Excellent in every way - really great food, friendly staff, always warm and welcoming. Slightly pricey but well worth it. The food is just a good as nearby Kites, so it's surprising that The Orchid is sometimes quiet - maybe because it is slightly hidden from the street. But it deserves to be full all the time. If you are looking for high quality authentic Chinese cuisine in Dublin, go seek out the Orchid on Pembroke Road in Ballsbridge. A hidden gem.

Not impressed even though we had been here before a couple of times and thought it was nice. This time the food was only OK and very expensive for what we got. Worst bit was when the waiter handed me the card payment terminal with the bill already entered. Then he took it back, cancelled the transaction, and then asked if we wanted to add a tip. We decided not to as the meal was so expensive anyway, then he muttered 'charming' and handed back the terminal. We then got the cold shoulder until we left. We will never go back, so I have to agree with other reviewers who found an attitude problem there!

The restaurant is small enough and was quiet when we were there, about 4 other tables were occupied. Service was very friendly, the girl serving us smiled, was very polite and seemed genuinely pleased to serve us. Food was very good and plentiful, with an appropriate gap between courses. Overall good value with the voucher. I would recommend.

Visited here for lunch on 1st May. We had a living social voucher which was €60 worth of food and drink ~(paid €30 for it). On arrival we were asked for our voucher and shown to our table there were two other people in the restaurant at the time. There were a la carte menus and a wine menu on the table when I asked the waiter for the lunch menu I was told that the lunch menu was not included in the deal as lunch was a "deal" in itself!. I queried as to why it did not say this on the voucher - it did clearly say valid for lunch or dinner. He retrieved the voucher and yes I was right however the voucher deal did not cover lunch from the lunch menu only from the a la carte however it did not say this on the voucher. Basically the attitude was take it or leave it. Totally unacceptable. I have purchased many vouchers and have never had this experience anywhere else. We ordered from the dinner menu however the voucher represented poor value as the shortfall would have paid for lunch at lunch prices (we had wine also). Total ripoff. I have frequented this restaurant in the past as I work close by - however I will never darken their door again after this experience. That said the food was good however their attitude and total disregard for customers left a very sour taste.

We booked a table for two and on arrival the place was quiet. We had a Deal Rush voucher. The 5 course taster menu was a slow process. The wait in between courses was unreal. So much so that I wondered was this a ploy to get us to spend money on drinks. If so it worked. It was frustrating to see customers who came in after us served and leaving before we moved onto our third course. Suffice to say we left a small tip although the food was good. Would not be tempted to return

I've been going to this restaurant with the same group of friends regularly for around 12 years. We have always had excellent food and we considered the staff to be friends. A recent change of management has resulted in a serious downturn in staff friendliness. The previous staff were always willing to go that extra mile. One time they went to the hotel across the road to get cigarettes for us when one of the group had ran out. We booked a table there for Saturday night. One of our group only drinks Bulmers. The previous staff always made sure they had some available any time we booked. We arrived on Saturday to be told that they had just sold the last bottle. No problem we said, why don't you just run up to the off licence on baggot st and buy some. We got a straight no. Not even a very sorry but we cant but just NO. we asked to speak to the new manager (who is the sister of the old manager). she wasnt there. It was saturday night and no manager. We asked them were they willing to lose substantial business from repeat customers instead of just running up the road to the off-licence. Both of the waiters were prefectly fine with this. We had no option but to leave. We wont darken their door again. We didnt get to try the food so cannot award any marks for it.
