I can't understand how a barman can be so rude. No 'hello's' or 'thank you' or anything. They need to give their bar staff a course in customer service. The guy is beyond belief in the rudeness stakes and should not be dealing with the public.

Visited today with a party of 7. To say it was a bad experience is putting it mildly. 45 minute wait on food only after asking a waitress and recieved a really rude response. We ordered a variety from the main course menu. Barbie duck what little meat was on the breast was so well done it was white, the champ to accompany this was watery mash laced with pepper and not an onion in sight. Stir fry veg under mash made the dish very soggy. Beef and Guinness pie was only discusting could not be eaten and no pastry topping as advertised. Bbq chicken burger was terrible, with only a scrimping of bbq sauce to flavour. The chicken was burnt and hardly edible. Fresh fish and chips well less of the fresh as when waitress was asked was fish fresh she confirmed it was frozen. This dish was average. The only meal that was OK was the lasagne. Today we decided to give the Ballinteer house another go as it's advertised as "food under new management" in my opinion the food standards are the same and the service is appalling not once were we asked was everything ok. A waste of hard earned money. Sorry for the long review but should know before you go. n

Old folks home, walked in and everyone including staff turned to see my unfamiliar face. Food was ok, bit greasy. Went into the bar after.NEVER AGAIN. Never seen so many idiots in one place. I love Only Fools & Horses but the quotes out of some of the local morons in there was quite simply put, embarrassing. Witnessed one in particular inhaling a white substance in the gents. Hardly the atmosphere to be at that carry on. Will never return

Went here with my wife for a change used to be my local before I movied away from the area. We visited on a Tuesday evening around 5/6pm I was surprised with how many people had been eating there at the time it's unusual that a pub be so busy for food on a Tuesday but I was soon to find out why! I had a roast 1/2 chicken served with garlic-cheese potatoes and veg and it was very good, my wife went for the early bird menu 3 course meal €17.95 she had the soup, lasagne and then apple crumble.. She said her meal was great. Will be returning soon even with a 25 min travel!

Restaurant response:
Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit with us! Hope to see you again soon.

This is one of my locals so have been here a couple of times. The most recent was on a Sunday evening for a quick bite before rushing home for X Factor! I just wanted a bit of a snack so had the chicken goujons and chips, just filling enough and really reasonably priced. Two of my companions had the burger, which I have also tried before and is really nice and filling. I would also recommend the lasagne to anyone looking for a really hearty, home-cooked style meal. The service is usually great, sometimes can bit a bit slow if it's very busy but there's always a good atmosphere. Some dishes are expensive but there is plenty to choose from and what's more expensive is usually worth it!

Although I wouln't recommend going out of your way to dine here, if you're in the neighbourhood and fancy a bite to eat you can't go wrong with Ballinteer House. There seem to be quite few regulars and quite a few people eat which is always a good sign. The food is typical pub food not fancy but also not expensive. My friend had a steak which was good value, the chips were good as was the soup. Service with a smile is also always nice

I have eaten here loads of time - Food is nice and fills you up on a Saturday evening if you are there for a few pints & to watch a match. Staff are all lovely & meals reasonably priced.
