Booked El Chico by email. It was confirmed and then when I arrived, I was told El Chico had closed and in its place was now an Italian Restaurant. Needless to say that I should have been informed of this when I made the booking. Expecting Mexican, not Italian. Talk about false advertising. So, overall, avoid the place as it is not a Mexican restaurant anymore. Pity....

It is quite impressive how fast can a restaurant go downhill. A year ago it was the Mexican best food in Dublin, this year's visit was a huge disappointment. Horrible food, sticky floors, dirty glasses... very slow service, bad food and so on. It was like going for lunch at a nightclub. Never again...

I visited here for the first (and last) time with my wife and 2 kids as a birthday treat, early on a Saturday evening. I am not the complaining type (and this is my first post), BUT, the standard of service was just poor.We waited a long time initially for our menus and our food. The mains were delivered over a period of 10 minutes, which is just unacceptable - I mean my wife was half way through here dinner before the kids meal arrived!!!. We were finished for 20 minutes before our tables was cleared. If the place was busy I would understand, but there was no-one in the place when we arrived and only 4 tables to serve when we left. We didn't stay for dessert, as I was frustrated with the whole experience. On the plus side - the food was good.

Good restaurant! The food was really good: we had sea bass and a burrito. They were both really tasty!

We visited here at 7.15pm counted 4 other tables in the restaurant, my wife ordered the three tapas, and I went for the mole chicken, (no starters) BUT it took 50 minutes to get served - I would hate to be there if the restaurant was busy. The food was excellent as was the service, however music was too loud, no early bird or specials menu, and the wine list is expensive. Sorry not on the return list.

Ate with a friend here on a Thursday night (first visit). A few people coming and going so good atmosphere. Lovely waitress, great service, she was so attentive but not over the top......but the food left me "wanting". We both had chicken burritos and they were just so bland ! I just couldn't get any flavour at all......the tortilla was quite tough in parts like it had been heated in a microwave (I don't think it was but had that toughness to it)....a tiny side dish of guacamole and salsa on the side which were really tasty but I was sorry I didn't order more of them. I had a glass of red wine which was a generous glass and really nice. We both finished with coffees which were really good too. It was really good value at €36. Will try again as I do love Mexican food but hoping I get some flavour next time.

Entered on a busy Saturday evening but by 10pm it became very quiet which took from the atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food was great and I enjoy big portions - had wings and a burrito. Desserts were delicious too - choc brownie and chili ice cream. I look forward to returning and trying some more dishes. will also be using the home delivery service as burrittos are great for a Sunday hangover!

It is the BEST Mexican food in DUBLIN by far! Very authentic, specially salsa en molcajete! We loved it! Service was amazing too, treated us like VIP! Margaritas with tequila Centenario plata are superb! Thank you for our lovely lunch celebrating Mexican Mother's day!
