Booked table, arrived only to be told there were no vegetarian meals left on the menu. At 8pm on a Saturday. Was then told that the kitchen wasn't able to make anything. Very poor experience. Cute menus in old books are all well and good but in 25 years of not eating meat that was the first restaurant I've been to anywhere in US/Europe/Asia where they were incapable of offering a vegetarian meal. Emailed to express my dis-satisfaction and received no response. Avoid.

Fantastic atmosphere and gorgeously seasonal Irish food paired beautifully with drinks recommended on the menu. Always impressed by the wonderful staff, its our go-to place for special occasion dinners or simply our favourite place for a mid week much needed after work drink in their cosy little bar too. Highly recommend

I do not normally write on these reviews but felt I needed today. Just back from Mulligan grocer and have to say we were very disappointed with the food. The potted crab at €9.50 was a very mean portion, more butter than crab and the bread!, what bread?. Avoid. Scotched egg, under seasoned, pork surrounding the egg was almost none existent. The pan fried Haddock was like it came out of a donegal catch pack, with some fennel seeds on top. No pan fried fish here, more battered cheap fish. Chips seemed like they were sitting under the heat lamp for a while, not crisp and the mint pea, think they ran out of it, looking at what was on the plate. The salad was bland and why the one mandarin/clementine segment? it added nothing or had no purpose to the plate. Avoid. The rib eye at €26.50 was rather fatty. You get a better steak in Aldi. Roast potatoes!!...wrong, baby shrivelled potatoes with rosemary, tasted rather like smoked bacon shrivelled bullets. Service ok. Overall disappointing and won't be back any time soon.

Was there with 7 others earlier this week. Despite me changing times & numbers (several times!) I found them to be really accommadating. We only had mainers, - and from the Hake to Burgers to what I had Chicken Kiew (very different to the normal), - everything was delisht. Can't wait to go back on a Saturday night in the throes of buzz-time!

As usual, great food and a great selection of beer. The staff were very friendly and looked after us well. The steak was good, though quite pricey at €26, and the haddock was lovely. There was a slight delay with our food, but the staff brought us some complimentary break and dips to compensate for the wait. Highly recommended.

We ate here for the first time and found it mixed in terms of a review. Firstly we were waiting a bit, then we got a good starter, followed by a right long wait and a poor main course. In all I found the food below average, the atmosphere was good but the bill was far too big and so I would not really like to return at all as I thought the experience sub standard for the money!

Took 5 friends out for my retirement and had a terrific night in L Mulligan's. Great mix of people in the place, buzzy atmosphere, kind of alternative and excellent food. Best of all was the value - still have some retirement money left!!

Just visited for the first time with my daughter. It is a bit off the beaten track, but still close to City Centre. and parking was easily available close by. All the items on the menu are interestingly different. I had the Sir Jack McCarthy's Black Pudding, starter and all the tastes were complementary. My daughter had the potted crab which had a range of different flavours .. all good. The Haddock main course was fantastic with beautiful tartare sauce. The celeriac chips with the burger and black pudding were to die for... The dessert of dark chocolate cake, coffee jelly, coconut sorbet, pear slices poached and pistachio bits was fantastic. Coffee served perfectly. We also tried one of the cherry beers and a cider which were high quality and delicious. The prices might seem a little expensive but when you taste the food it was worth it. Will definitely come back to try the other menu items

We had the scotch egg for starters which never disappoints. I love the different presentations and the different recommendations of ale/lager for each servings. The menu is very quirky. The burger and the chicken were lovely for main courses. The staff go the extra mile with service and even the bill presentation has that extra special touch. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

We dined at Mulligan's as family of three with 1 yr old baby and it was lovely. We liked the atmosphere and superb service. The food was nicely served and very tasty. for starters we had vegetarian scotched egg, which was nice but not as good as the first time we ate there and chorizo bonbons were amazing. For mains soup fr the baby, chicken kiev which was very delicious and steak which was good. We had beer and wine paired to what we ordered and we were both pleased which what we received. All in all we lived it and we are planning to be back quite soon.

This was our second visit to L. Mulligan. It has a really nice atmosphere and a great selection of beers. The staff are really friendly and the service is excellent. We both had the same, scotch egg for starters and pork belly for mains. The scotch egg was served on a board with salad and two dips. One was a type of relish and the other a kind of mustard mayonnaise. This was delicious and the egg was cooked perfectly with the yolk just nicely soft. The pork belly was served with mash, apple puree a rich jus, purple sprouting broccoli and roast potatoes. The pork was a little dry and the crackling was impossibly tough. Other than that the dish was very good but was let down by the pork.
