Enjoyed nice tea, scone,& jam here yesterday. However, I found it quite off putting to hear the staff being shouted at by senior staff quite rudefully at in a high pitched voice.

I have been to this place numerous times as this is on my route walking to the park with buggy. I must say that my experience depends on who is making the sandwich. They sometimes are unbelievably tasty and sometimes (like today) very poor. I had a voucher for afternoon tea. We got New Yorker wrap (with pastramI) and Californian brown sandwich. Correct me if I'm wrong: pastrami should be sliced thin, shouldn't it? These slices inside the wrap were thick like a half or rib eye steak! Horrible and impossible to bite when combined with hot melted cheese. My sandwich was bland and sour. Latte on soya milk was made of foam instead of milk and table was filthy (not a first time). Cakes were average - nothing special. The Staff is like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde: never know what to expect. Today our 6mth old daughter was given a toy to play but last time we haven't even got a smile when served. Weird place altogether but you should try their great Veggie paninni.

I visited the river cafe last Saturday with my partner and 10 week old baby, we arrived at 5.20 in the evening. We chose to leave without eating as the staff were rude and unhelpful, even though they did not close until 6 they were unhappy to prepare anything saying that it was too late to give us a chicken salad sandwich even though it was 40 mins until they closed.. I have been here a number of times and while the staff are not overly friendly, this was particularly bad, I will not return.

I have visited the river cafe a couple of times now as it is a regular spot for work colleagues. I had the veggie panini which was delicious-just the perfect amount of goats cheese. Although the food is tasty the service is mediocre with staff not particularly friendly. But for popping in for a bit of lunch, there's plenty of choice and everything looks really fresh. Not the cheapest lunch around though.

Came here with my girlfriend for breakfast this morning. I had scrambled egg on toast while she had sausages and toast. The food itself was very average, nothing special and as for the atmosphere, it was almost non exsistant. The pricing was unreasonable for the basic foods i ordered. Will not return for breakfast menu again.

Came here for a Sunday breakfast with my partner. I had sausages and toast and he had scrambled egg on toast. Both very average meals, probably could make just as good if not better , at home in my own house. Mine was an ok 2.95 whereas his eggs and toast were 3.95- bit over priced for what it was. He had black coffee and I'd an americano. Regular size was miserable. It's a nice secluded cafe, nice setting and seats with cushions and pillows. Other than that , nothing special.

Visited the river cafe for the first time with friends last Friday, a large coffee shop at the back of the Raheny Shopping Centre. Really impressed with a lovely lamb dish I had which included two side salads and was very well priced. Will definitely be back

On the way home from town today, we stopped off for a quick bite to eat in the river cafe - usually we head here for weekend brunch as a family (which incidentially is great because its so little people friendly !!) My husband went for his usual - chicken & brocolli crumble with salad on the side...and as usual I had to sample it & the creamy coleslaw - divine ! I had a plate of mixed salad & a bowl of homemade soup...Ive threatened to have just the salad before but never have - the choice of "3" is always too difficult so today I had a huge plate of mixed - DE-lish ! I rounded off my lunch with a slab of pavlova...it was definately a "no Points" day after that. My hub had his usual mars bar cake....again i stole a bite....I think i encourage him to have the same thing always so I can try the new stuff. Best part - great value ! where else would you get lunch for 2, dessert & T&C for less that 28 euro.

Just had a superb lunch in the River Cafe today. Delicious fresh salads and home cooked comfort food. They even had lovely food to take away. Excellent value so keep it coming.

If you want to eat bland, overpriced food from a table and in a scruffy cafe then the River Cafe is the place for you. Oh and don't forget the rude service. This is simply the worst place I've eaten in in Dublin. They list a breakfast Brunch on the menu that isn't available at lunchtime which is basically stupid. Very disappointing.

I thought this was a cracking little spot. We stopped in for lunch and it was as good as you can get in my book. There was a bit of a que, to be expected given it was lunch time but all round great lunch at decent prices. Next time on the Howth Road I'll defo pop in for lunch or a coffee.

I have just returned to work after having lunch in the River Cafe and I am so disgusted at what can only be described as a 'rip off cafe', that I have decided to write a review, something which I have never felt the need to do before. As I was not overly hungry I opted for a simple salad. The hot lunches were quite expensive but not overly excessive for Dublin, however, I could not see the price of the salad anywhere but assumed it would be in line with the rest of the menu, boy was I wrong. €7.95 for a plate of tasteless salad. When I queried this I was told that it was €2.00 per item and that this was displayed (I went back in and had a look and it was not displayed anywhere). I will certainly not be returning to this cafe as not only is it an absolute rip off, there would have been more taste in the napkin I wiped my hands on than there was in my Salad.

we were a group of seven arriving for breakfast, think it startled them. A lovely premises and the take out menu for parties looked very appealing. Out of the 7, 5 looked for scrambled eggs. The first servings that came out of the microwave were rubbery and got sent back. We could hear the chef's reaction and were not too confident about what would be served in its place but to be fair the new scrambled eggs were perfect. Would return.
