We decided to stop in here for some tapas and ordered the 3 for €21 and a main as it was between two. We should have ordered the 3 for €20 and another tapas from the menu. Portion sizes were good. The tapas potatoes and dip were tastier than expected! The spicy beef was as good as I remembered! We ordered the Peri Peri Wings there wasnt much peri peri we might try the buffalo sauce next time! On our return visit I will definitely order the prawns instead of the main! Service: We waited at the bar to be seated (no reservation) the bar staff were very polite and friendly. We were called as soon as a table became available (without delay). Atmosphere was quiet maybe some background music would be nice. Over all a great experience.

Lovely food and nice atmosphere. The only gripe is that the main courses are very small so you will need to eat a starter. The food is very nice though.

Food is very expensive - €30 for steak, burger is €17.50!! Really really overpriced for bar food.

It wasn't a very satisfying visit this time unfortunately. Staff hadn't really gotten into the Christmas sprit and the restaurant was very very cold at 1pm. Food was ok but overall it was a very disappointing visit. I've had better there. I hope next time will be better.

Visited on a recent sunny Sunday after a walk in the Park. Usually it's a cosy winter place but it was still good in summer as there are now tables outside. Also a GAA game on - and the TV is never too intrusive or loud to inhibit conversation. The service was really good and prompt. The 3 x Tapas dishes for €19.95 as tasty as ever - though I wish they would add some new ones and maybe another seafood type besides just prawns. The lamb shank was excellent, the lasagne excellent - the main dishes are all good value for money and have real home-cooked flavour. Just the Tapas need a little adventure. Still a favourite place and look forward to going back especially when it's cold and the fire is lit.

I really like the Hole in the Wall; the food is good, reasonably priced, good portions, and I love the huge tables and the range of beers. But the service is awful (not just based on this visit, but on several). No-one asks if you want a drink. Every single time we wanted something we had to call a member of staff (to take our order, to take our drinks order, to take our dessert order, to clear plates, to take our payment) - we were a large party, 4 small children, and the food came out promptly, but took ages because they just didn't pay any attention to us. Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip beyond the service charge. I like the place but they really need better floor staff

Went here on a Friday evening and we opted for the tapas between us, we were not disappointed! I love the way you can buy your wine in their off licence and drink it in the bar!

I love the hole in the wall. From the amazing wine to chose from at reasonable prices, to the fantastic food. I generally visit once a week and always have the amazing piri piri chicken wings. Then can't decided between the lamb shank (falls off the bone). The fillet steak (cooked to perfection) or the Roast Beef (proper carvery, but better than all the other restaurants in the area). The only bad thing i'd say is that it's been so long since they had the duck leg tapas and the pork belly tapas on the menu. They were so amazing!!! Please bring them back folks. 5 star! (There's an amazing range of craft beers too, I almost forgot)

This is one of my favourite places to go for a lazy day meal and drinks after a stroll in the Phoenix Park, particularly during the Autumn when they have the fire lit and Christmas lights and decorations on display. The staff are very friendly and I've never been disappointed by the seasonal menu, in particular the venison with beetroot mash. Excellent sellection of craft beers to choose from and you can buy a bottle of wine from the off licence and bring to your table. I would highly recommend it.

I haven't been to this restaurant since Xmas and i'm afraid to say the food standards are slipping. 4 of us had dinner yesterday evening - the restaurant wasn't busy at all. The lamb shanks were dry and served with a steak knife. On previous visits the meat used to fall off the bone. The salmon was completely overdone and served with an awful waxy mashed potato. I hope the kitchen pulls up its socks before it's too late; don't think i'll be rushing back again any time soon. Their wine shop is still great though!

Not only the Hole in the Wall is my favorite pub, its has a wine cellar where I can find great wines and a great restaurant. The staff is always lovely, really helpful and informative. I've never been desappointed with the food. Yesterday I had the steak and my fiancee the lamb and both dishes were amazing and the meat was just as we requested it. I had a booking were I explained that it was an important celebration and they gave us the best table of the house, the most cosy, the snug. You never can go wrong with the Hole in the Wall. I will be back for dinner again soon.

Always have a great meal here. Food is the same in the restaurant and the bar. Tapas options as starters - prawns with garlic & chilli are always delicious. Not a huge selection for mains but normally there's something there that suits everyone. Great value as there's an early bird every night until 6.30pm and all day on a Sunday - 2 courses for 17.95 and 3 courses for 22.95. Always very busy but have never had a problem with the service. The wine shop is the cherry on top - spend over 10 euros and you don't pay for corkage in the bar or restaurant. Enables you to have a very good quality wine with your meal and not pay restaurant prices. Should always be checked out at Xmas too as the decorations are amazing. Keep up the good work!
