Company outing - party of 23. Setting is beautiful. Menu limited but beautiful food. We all had the 2 course/3 course option. Staff very prompt with order and the management were very attentive. General consensus was a lovely meal in a lovely setting.

Booked here for a large group of 17. They split is onto two separate tables which meant the three birthday girls were on different tables. There was another larger group right beside us again split onto two tables and the rest of the restaurant was empty. A set menu was at each place even though when my sister booked she specified that she wanted a la carte as we had some plain eaters in our group. By the time they had found menus for those who didn't want the set menu it was over an hour from when we sat down to when we got our starters. The food was nice enough although the starters were strange (melon soup, quinoa salad etc) and none of the mains came with vegetables other than say a carrot garnish or five or six sugar snap peas. One rack of lamb was pure fat and wasn't replaced until everyone else was finished eating and another person who ordered plain steak and chips with no garnish got steak with garnish all over it and about six chips. The desserts were nice but as with the mains there were ingredients substituted without mention (eg the chocolate tart was meant to come with hazelnuts and raspberries but instead came with half a strawberry) and although the servers were friendly the service was slow. Piped music didn't add any atmosphere and tables at the other end of the restaurant were being set for breakfast as we ate. The seventeen of us agreed that on the whole it was disappointing and we wouldn't be back.

Had not been there for 3/4 years and believe standard has improved considerably. Nice views from window seat and service was prompt. Found food was served hot and only gripe was small adjustments to main course were not made as if they were never noted. Will return again.

We decided to celebrate St. Patrick's night by having dinner with a friend at the Coast. This was our second visit and it was even more enjoyable than the first. Apart from the unobtrusive service and the great food, it's hard to pin point what works here. The restaurant was busy enough, and we were having the early bird, but with just the right amount of time being left between courses, at no stage did we feel rushed. In the end, we were having such a nice time, we were the last to leave!

A place to bring your parents if they are of a certain generation (ie 80+ yrs) - Typical hotel dining room food (if that what you are into) with a modest wine list and attentive service. My main course of duck could have been hotter for my taste, while creme brule dessert was not the best I have ever tasted (waaaaay too much lavender!!!!!). Overall not a bad experience but not really my cup of tea - in summary waitered carvery fare in scenic setting.

Had a lovely meal here. Got the biggest and hottest bowl of soup I've had for a long time. The other starters were generous in size also. Decided to order the seabream which was nicely served with asparagus tips. All the deserts on the menu sounded delicious. Chose the walnut and blackcurrant tart, Would definitely have this again. The restaurant had a nice ambience with lovely views over the sea. Service was very efficient.

We visited here on a staff Christmas lunch. The food and service was excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The setting of the restaurant is nice and a lot of the tables look out onto the sea.

Have eaten here several times recently - food is quite good but unless you go for the 'early bird', it's a bit pricey (and we were disappointed when we went a while ago and missed the early bird by 5 minutes and weren't allowed avail of it) Like a lot of hotel restaurants, it can lack atmosphere Nice views over the estuary/bay House wine very nice Staff friendly and efficient The walk from the main lobby to the restaurant is quite convoluted

I visited this restaurant with some colleagues who were staying in the hotel and was really pleasantly surprised. Though it was early in the week and the restaurant was quiet enough, the atmosphere was quite nice. However, they could do with some draft exclusion, we found it a bit drafty and chilly. Food didn't disappoint. The salad starter I had was really good while my colleagues commented on how nice the chowder was. We all had steak mains - really good quality beef cooked as requested for everyone. I've gone back again since and recommended it to others. Don't know of anywhere else in Malahide to get a steak as nice as this. Service is really pleasant and all in all I've enjoyed it and will look forward to going back.

Just been to Coast Restaurant for birthday meal. Live locally so decided to try Coast because of roads. Asked for warm table with view. There was a drafty coolness because we were in direct line with the entrance. The leek & potato soup was dreadful, very packety taste, could not eat it. The pork was not hot enough and the polenta was only warm. The meat balls were very pink in the middle. The hake was only ok. The family did not want to fuss because of birthday. It really was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. The only saving grace was nice staff except that they accidentally added €100 to the bill. Never again.

Had lunch here on Friday. Lovely setting with beautiful views over the estuary. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had the salmon which was very tasty. Good size portions if a little on the large side. All in all a pleasant experience and I would certainly go again

Visited here on Sunday for lunch as we had a lovely experience previously. The only menu on offer however was the Christmas Set lunch menu. The problem was that it was like a throwback to the early 1990's. Complete with 4 slices of Starfruit as a garnish on a hot meal. I just DON'T get this. Food was boring and very mediocre. Staff however and service was as I would expect. Good. M real problem however came when I asked for the bill. I was charged €7 for a 650ml bottle of Ballygowan! I'm still in shock! I asked the maitre d' to check if this was correct. He stated "Yes". I retorted that it was outrageous. This makes Ballygowan more expensive than petrol! To the management of the Grand Hotel. YOU ARE RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS. There were 3 tables in the restaurant that I would imagine seated about 80 guests. One wonders why so quiet??!! COP YOURSELVES ON. I will NEVER return.... I'd rather drink petrol!

We booked a table for 6oclock to avail of the early bird kids eat free (main meal). Which looked like a good offer. The service was awful. On arrival we waited, were not greeted for a good 4 minutes, We were not offered drinks first(4star dont forget). All we did was wait for everything and call for service. We waited on the menu. We waited to order, We waited for drinks. We waited for our dessert, I eventually got up from table and found a manager to request our desserts. We asked 3 times for bill. We told the manager at the time that we would never be back. My steak was lovely. Kids did not eat their food, We requested burger without cheese but instead I had to scrape cheese off. The chunky chips were undercooked, hard inside. The french fries were chunky chips. Very dissapponting, it was cheaper than eating with kids in other restaurants in Malahide. shame.
