Attended Dorans last night with a friend. Ordered Salmon & she ordered Cod (no Hake available). Must stress we are not big eaters, but, could not believe the TINY portions of fish on offer off the A la carte menu. It should have been an embarassment to serve such a small portion to guests. Server said she would mention it to chef.n Was it because we were using vouchers???. The fish itself was very tasty.n Overall, disappointed with miserly portions.

When my crab tartlet arrived the pastry was burnt I attempted to eat it but the taste was so bad I had to leave it, when the waitress was clearing the table she never asked how our food was, when I showed her the pastry she said she would tell the chef, we didn't hear from her again about it. Our mains a prawn linguine & lemon sole took 45 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant wasn't busy, in the end neither of us finished the main which was bland and tasteless. This is easily my worst dining experience, the service is extremely poor and the food is over price and not very good. My advise is to avoid.

I booked a table for 2 on a Sunday night at 8.30pm using a voucher but when we arrived we were told that the kitchen closes at 8pm on a Sunday which I find hard to believe especially as it states it opens until 10.30pm Mon-Sun on the website. It was extremely quiet so I'd imagine the chef wanted to go home as we were 5 mins late for our booking. The waitress was lovely and apologetic and the kitchen was "reopened" although I was slightly annoyed at this point having come all the way out to be told such a ridiculous excuse as the booking was reserved during the week and I had also rang the restaurant on the day to check the booking and was not notified that their kitchen closes at 8pm, how absurd for a restaurant! We quickly ordered our main course and a drink, did not bother with starters or deserts, food was nice although steak was slightly overcooked, needless to say I don't think I would return again. Nice atmosphere in the Beachcomber bar downstairs for drinks afterwards.

Avoid Food very mediocre amd overpriced. Starter read better than presented and tasted, maain course was also very average with little or no flavour - no atmosphere as about 2 other tables occupied which in itself speaks volumes!!!

Food was delicious and portions were fine, service was wonderful and friendly. Prices a bit high as meal for 2 was 90 euros but this included a bottle of wine. Will go again and try to get the early bird menu.

Food was ok, but overpriced. Starter was tasty. My main fish was very boney and the veg was a small portion of over cooked garden veg and boiled baby spuds with no seasoning. Had a living social voucher and even tho it says on voucher 'save the trees' and never print another voucher, this restaurant refused to accept a smart phone voucher. Won't be going back!

We decided to go to Dorans as there had been a free bottle of wine voucher in the Independent. The food was beautiful.I had the pate and the brioche bread with it was devine and the perfect amount, unlike most other restaurants where you have to steal off your husbands plate!!He had the salmon and beetroot-again perfect size and a classic done with an edge. For mails I had the sole on the bone-cooked to perfection and my husband had the hake.He really enjoyed the chickpea stew with it,again something different to the norm.Although the free bottle of wine did help,we would go back for gorgeous tasty food and great service.

The calimari were fresh and tasty. Hake in chickpea and chorizo was fantastico .... My other half had crab claws - fresh and beautiful - I love the chilli hit in the butter. Her main looked lovely but I kept on the hake :-)

Waiting ages to be served. Food not hot enough nor enough of it. Crab cakes like eating pepper. Not enough vegetables. Overpriced. Need updating. These so called great restaurants leave me embarrassed to be Irish and promoting this. Wont be returning. Very disappointed.

As a local resident, it is terrible to see such a good idea and opportunity wasted. This place is far too expensive for what you get. We were there mid-week and the place was dead quite and we were refused the early bird menu as we were maybe ten minutes late. The cost turned us off having dessert or returning. For the atmosphere, the place was dead, granted we were there midweek but the place was empty with the music being to low, boring and somewhat 'sad'. Service was ok although it would be hard for it to be bad when there was only us and maybe one other table. Calamari and fish cakes to start were nice and had lovely presentation. I had the traditional fish and chips. Again nice but nothing special. The pea and mint puree was inedible, mint far too strong. My partner in crime had a vegtable pasta dish which not only looked limp and dead but tasted very bland. The waitress did get distracted by another staff member and continued to ignore numerous attempts to get her attention and she then ultimately disappeared. We were also shocked to find out that there was an item from the main restaurant menu on the bar menu and it was cheaper.

This place is nothing short of excellent. An array of public transport can get you here, the food is amazing and fishy! The wine was tasty and reasonable priced, the staff were awesome. The worst I could say is that the portions were a little on the small side but really that would nit picking. Can't wait to return!
