The service and ambiance were outstandingly good. Food was wholesome and substantial -- the bread was best of all!

Friendly staff. Very good made and fresh food. All fish and seafood we ate were absolutely from the day. The child's beef burger well spiced and done. Went to lunch time.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Great atmosphere, I was in the Abbey Tavern for Tea and there was a great buzz about the place. Food is fantastic and in particular their side order of macaroni cheese - this is a must to try (highly recommended)

One of the worst meals I've had in years! Had the lamb shank as main. This was suspiciously over peppered and rock hard!! Asked for the 'selection of Irish cheeses with grapes and crackers' afterwards. Was told there were no grapes. Ok. Then told there were no crackers. Ok. Then handed a plate of what looked like pre-chewed Brie and told this was all there was. This felt like microwave ready meal food in a bistro surround. Truly awful. Left hungry.

Never again. Starters for five people came out gradually....one at a time. Cutlery had to be asked for ... twice. Main course: four arrived but one missing. One of the four that arrived turned out not to be accompanied by what the waitress described when taking the order. When asked instead of apologising the waitress stated the food wasn't ordered correctly...yet the same waitress took the order and told us what accompanied the food! The fifth main course came....which was wrong too but as the customer appears to be always wrong in this establishment it wasn't worth tackling another issue. What should be ordered is Customer Service Training!

Came out here for a bit of lunch with my partner and his mam. We all had the veg soup with brown bread and we ordered the chicken tenders and a portion of chips between us. The waitress ended up bringing two portions of chips. When i told her we had only ordered one she said she wouldn't charge us. My mother-in-law asked for a glass of wine, it was brought out in a jug and was enough for two glasses which was generous. The food is nice, I like that they had the fire lighting. Nice for a spot of lunch.

Popped in here while we were in Howth getting a bite. I have to say, I wasn't hugely impressed. The service wasn't bad or anything but the staff weren't particularly attentive either. The food was very drab. I had the fish and chips and had to note that the fish wasn't identified in the menu. Whatever it was it was very bland, and the side of mushy peas were even more bland, and I usually like mushy peas. My partner had the sole and it was even worse...would not be surprised if it had come out of a Moy Park wrapper. Wouldn't recommend.

We took family here for a trad night. The song and dance were brilliant! Really good and a lot of fun to experience. There was a set menu and everything was pretty basic, pretty tasty. Nothing extraordinary, but worth the meal since we got a great show. The fish was my entree and it was nice and the veg and boiled potatoes were standard. The staff were all friendly and overall the vibe was great. I've also been before on just a Sunday afternoon and the seafood chowder was excellent. Really nice to sit by a big fireplace and with all the old world pub fare. Nice place to stop into if you're out by the marina or just in Howth for the day.

A nice homely place. We brought our father here last Sunday for Father's Day. We went for the pub grub and not the restaurant. There was a blazing fire in the corner, which was ridiculous for June. We were roasting. The waiter service was a tad slow, but when the waitress arrived she was friendly. Myself and my wife had lasagne and chips, which was very plentiful and tasty. The portion of chips was a bit miserly. My father had a cabbage and bacon. He cleared the plate. We did not have dessert or starter. There is a nice atmosphere in the old Abbey, and the price was pretty reasonable. We will definitely be back.
