Dressing up and chestnuts. Pencil shavings and smoky evenings. Cuddly fires and woollies and rusty leaves. Autumn is upon us and here at Moloughney’s it’s our favourite time of year and our thoughts are turning to nature’s cold weather comforts: blackberries, Bramley apples, rabbit, venison and pheasant. It’s time to start planning and plotting ways to entertain ourselves and catch up with old friends over the winter, and yes, many Christmas party plans are already underway in Clontarf!

On the menu look our for the Slow Braised Pigs Cheeks, delicious Salt Cod Fritters or the refreshing Crab & Lime Salad. We also recommend you try the Smoked Wild Mushroom Galette – we smoke the mushrooms here using a Bradley smoker.

Mains, you ask? Well now is the perfect time to enjoy Comeragh Mountain Lamb and festive meats like Wild Irish venison, rabbit & pheasant.
But save room for the taste sensation that is the Poached Pears with Homemade Goat’s Curd Ice Cream, the old fashioned comfort of Baked Rice Pudding with jam, or the Salt Caramel Chocolate Tart that everyone’s raving about!

We were a large party that included kids. We all had a very enjoyable meal and the kids were looked after. The only negative was the selecting of starters was poor. (but we were had an early sitting at 2pm)

We didn't book as we just popped in as we were in the area. We got a table no problem, it wasn't very busy at the time. The menu is impressive, lots of choice but as I don't eat red meat I decided to have fish pie which was delicious and a good generous portion. Service was friendly and quick. I will certainly return

Booked lunch here with friends. I'm always impressed by the quality of food and service here. The lunch menu really has something for everyone, our group had a vegan with nut allergy, a vegetarian, a 100% carnivore and a child:) Everyone was delighted with the options and nothing was too much trouble. Already looking forward to my next visit.

We walked in off the street on Saturday evening and to be fair they only had one table that they needed in 1 hour. We took it and had a great evening. The food is good and we spoke to a number of staff and it was great to see that some were local and had all the info we required. On to the important part - the food is of a very high standard and the service was great. As we had the table for an hour (probably 90 mins in total) we got the express service. We will be back and if there was something small they should do - that would be to invest in Irish Coffee glasses. As usual I finish with one but it was served in a wine glass. (the waiter was full of knowledge on the Irish coffees and did apologise for not having the correct glasses) The furniture and decor is superb and different. A must place to visit.

Both my parents and myself spent a very pleasant lunchtime at Moloughney's in Clontarf celebrating Father's Day. The Chicken liver pate was delicious with a very generous portion too and the crispy egg with asparagus was very tasty. Two of us went for the lamb which again was a very generous portion and the other member of our party had the Pork Pie which was delicious and a little spicy. The deserts were very good also. All in all a lovely meal, great spacious table and very pleasant and helpful staff. We'll definitely be back again.

I visited this restaurant on Sunday and despite having no reservation and the restaurant being very busy, we were given our choice of 2 tables upstairs. We chose the corner table by the door to the balcony, a good choice on such a warm day as it was particularly bright and airy. The staff were vey friendly and efficient and were able to offer advice on the menu when asked. I chose a Kohlrabi, fennel and blood orange salad for starters which was delicious and I chose the Ray Wing for Mains, not having had Ray before, I was anxious to try it and was not disappointed. I finished with a Pineapple Tart Tatin which was served with Malibu Ice Cream and I thought it was just perfection. I enjoyed a chilled glass of white wine which again was recommended by the waitress and once again I was not disappointed. My companion was also very pleased with her choice of Chicken Liver Pate for starters and the Ray Wing which she also opted for. She enthused about her choice of Cherry Mousse cake for dessert. We both look forward to our next visit to Moloughneys.

We booked the early bird menu and our table was as requested. As regular customers, Moloughneys is one of our favorites, however on this occasion both my wife and I were disappointed. Menu selection was disappointing, starters were poor, and the main course ( John Dory) was a little overcooked. Please bring back the liver and bacon.

Booked the restaurant on a friend's recommendation as the occasion was my wife's 50th birthday. It was fantastic. Service excellent, food likewise and lovely atmosphere. Didn't pay too much attention to the prices but when the bill came although we arrived well past the early bird time, food where cheaper was charged at EB rate. Nice touch and very fair. Well done Moloughneys and thank you for a great night. Will be back soon.

Had a late Sunday lunch here yesterday. We've been before and like the atmosphere and decor, as clearly do many others as the restaurant was jam packed. Our table wasn't qute ready when we got there, but we only had to wait a few minutes before seating. However, we did have to wait after being seated for a few minutes before getting menus. Once we had the menus, the service was very good, accommodating special requests and attentive throughout. We all ate different things and everyone enjoyed their meals. The wine selection is good and you can get a decent bottle of wine without spending a fortune. I've enjoyed myself more on evening occasions here, but would certainly go back again. It's a very good restaurant with fair value for money.

I really enjoy Moloughneys particulary their brunch menu. Sometimes service can be a little hit and miss but overall the quality of the food makes up for this.
