The Balrothery Inn is a traditional pub with so much to offer with its great history, strong local presence and great food located in the quaint village of Balrothery, Co.Dublin. Originally a coach house and licenced since 1656, the pub tended to the needs of the weary traveller making their way from Dublin to Drogheda. Balrothery and the surrounding areas are bursting with history and stories from the past, like Ardgillan Castle and the magnificent views of the coastline.

The pub is decorated with pictures of the local area and is cared for by the McCormick Brothers who are 7th generation publicans. The pub was recently renovated and all features and furniture were custom made keeping the traditional feel whilst adding a hint of gothic style that makes the Balrothery Inn cosy and homely.

The Balrothery Inn is extremely family friendly and children are most welcome.
One great thing about the pub is the food on offer. They offer the best of both worlds, restaurant standard food in a restaurant setting at pub lunch prices.
Dinner is available from 3pm to 9.30pm, Monday to Saturday and 12.30pm to 7.30pm on Sundays.
A full lunch menu is also available from 12noon to 3pm, serving up soups and sandwiches, to something a little more filling.

The pub also boasts a function room that can cater for up to 70 people and you can have full access to our team of chefs. Bar Extensions can also be accommodated on request and all areas of the pub and function room are wheelchair friendly.
Overall, The Balrothery Inn provides a traditional atmosphere combined with the best of food and drink and complimented by a very friendly and warm welcome.

All these bad reviews is quite shocking to me! Where to start, the Balrothery Inn has this real relaxed atmosphere, I am a local myself and eat there often enough .. food is delicious especially their steaks and yummy garlic wings! the staff are very friendly and they know a lot of their customers so its a great kind of homely feel! one particular barman is very attentive and you can see they all want to make sure you're ok! would definitely recommend to people! Sundays can be really busy I'd recommend to go on a saturday evening great bands there too! Happy dining!

I was there with my family on Sat evening The bar staff were most unhelpful and unfriendly The food was disgusting and when we commented the staff member made no offer of apologising only cleared the table in a manner very offensive to the customer I shall not return

We eat here quite a bit, as the food is consistently good and it is good value. The place could do with a facelift though, it's very old and tatty looking. The staff are rarely attentive, bar one youngone who serves us sometimes. Usually they are slow to come over and tend to be too busy chatting amongst themselves to notice if you need anything. If the red velvet gateaux is on the menu when you are there, GET IT!!! You won't be disappointed!

Have been here a few times and as previous comments have said it can be a bit of a hit and miss. The service and atmosphere are excellent in my opinion however the sitting area is less then appealing for the price you pay for the food. I have had the starters on many occassions and only been let down once with there beef soup- but my partner got the cheese in breadcrumbs and that was lovely. We had the half joint Roast and the burger and both were fair but not exceptional. For a good time here i would recommend a few drinks and ordering there platters as they are lovely and always hit the spot.

We had lunch at the Balrothery Inn on Sunday and i was very disappointed with the experience, It was a beautiful day and there was no service outside all food and drink had to be ordered at the bar and you were left to struggle with your drinks this is after it took the barman an age to get my order which he got wrong twice, The food was bland and on the lower end of pub grub quality there's far better out there for the money, The location and atmosphere has great potential but the staff need to get a lot more customer friendly, We also had a baby with us and the facility's are pour in relation to changing and the toilets need a series upgrade but this is a charming country pub and a few smiles from the staff would go a long way.

This is my favourite place to go when I just don't feel like cooking and just want 'cosy' food. There's nothing spectacular about it yet it never disappoints. Portions are a good size and the service has never left me wanting. In terms of atmosphere, I prefer to eat in the bar (at the back) rather than in the lounge.

I brought my mother here for some relaxing sunday grub. I always find the place very relaxing, food is really homely and always hot! Which is a big thing for me. There is always something on the menu new each week. I am a balbriggan local and I will highly recommend it. Great family restaurant! Great specials too!

Relaxed atmosphere. Evening food is good, Sunday dinner is better. Service is a hit/miss, sometimes they're great and for that again you may have to go looking for someone. Costs are fair enough for pub-grub

I live locally and have eaten here on and off over the past few years. In general the food is ok to bad. The steaks are exceptional most of the time. The staff are something to behold though. With a couple of exceptions, they all seem to have gone to the same finishing school in tardiness and rudeness. It is so bad that it is nearly worth experiencing it once, as you could not do it justice in words and even if you could it wouldn't be believed.

I live locally since earlier this year. I have a family and we eat there at least a few times a month. I think the food is tasty, and they give generous portions. Cost-wise I find them quite reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed, and thats a big must for us.

I eat in the Balrothery inn quiet Often for dinner and I do find it reasonably good but I think that the evening food is basic enough for the price. however during the week I went there for lunch and I had a BLT with Salad and Chips I was not over impressed with it. It was quiet basic not very tasty I only ate half the Sandwich and when I asked the waitress on ordering it, if it was possible to have it in a Panini, I was told NO! quite rudely. I would not be rushing back there in a hurry
